Re: Wii U Discussion
I'm telling you, I love ZombiU.
I think the bad reviews come from having different expectations regarding the style of game.
It's a survival horror game where you are a random person in a zombie apocalypse. Of course it's going to take 3 or 4 swings of a cricket bat to kill a zombie. You aren't some special forces trained CoD badass. If I was in that scenario tomorrow I don't know if I could kill a zombie with 3 or 4 swings haha.
On another note, these are my cons to the system so far (besides the obvious underpowered complaints):
1. The GamePad doesn't support an A/V receiver. I have everything running through my 7.1 receiver so I can't the GamePad to control the volume or switch inputs. Not quite the universal remote I was hoping for.
2. I bought a 1 TB external 2.5" USB HD last night and was ready to go "all digital" and perhaps download CoD, Madden or NBA 2K, but those games aren't available in the eShop. I guess I was spoiled by the Vita's setup where everything is available day 1 on the PSN.

Re: Wii U Discussion
I haven't used headphones yet but for a game like new super mario u, the sound/video is on both the gamepad and the tv. So plugging the headphones in should get the game sound from the pad, however you would have to turn the tv sound all the way down. I am sure it will vary by game, but I would assume any that you can play on either the pad or the tv will work like this. A game like zombiU where the pad does "extras" and doesnt have actual gameplay on it might differ, I dont think games like that would have all the game sounds coming from it.Comment

I do like the fact that your cell phone headset works as a gaming headset and mic, though.XBox Gamertag: djbeth77

Re: Wii U Discussion
As much as the Wii U sounds impressive, I think i will skip out on it as I will wait to drop my money on the next Playstation and Xbox. Just not really into the games that the Wii comes out with. I did play the Wii U in my local Gamestop and was impressed with the Game pad. Just not sure I want to make the investment in the Wii U though. I have the Wii and it has been collecting dust for the past year and a half. My kids don't even play it anymore and they just play their PS3 and 360.
I will definitely be preordering the new Playstation and Xbox when they are available for preorders thoughLast edited by ckarlic; 11-20-2012, 06:22 PM.PSN: ckarlic

Re: Wii U Discussion
I am disappointed in the power of the Wii U. We were led to believe that while it wouldn't be light years ahead of the 360 and PS3 that it would still be significantly better. Instead a developer has called the cpu awful and slow (http://mynintendonews.com/2012/11/20/metro-last-light-dev-says-wii-u-has-a-horrible-slow-cpu/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter). I am reading about frame rate issues on ports for Madden and NBA 2K13 and even first party Mario with weaker graphics isn't running in 1080p. Even for first generation games a system that is 6-7 years newer shouldn't have to work hard to keep up. I've also read the tools provided for the developers are lacking right now and that the final system was different from the dev kits so hopefully this will improve. But it seems this system has about the same power as the current consoles (better in areas of RAM and worse in others).
We'll still be giving this to the kids for Christmas but I am surprised and disappointed that the Wii U doesn't have a little more juice.Comment
