Just wanted to comment on 2 things:

1) Many of the major black screen or gameplay bugs have been fixed. You *should* be safe.

2) If you choose to run TV through the Xbox, you can do 2 things to keep from confusing your wife: set the boot to TV setting (so it launches TV full screen with the console) and pick up the Media Remote. It's $25, lets you control volume, and is made to fit great in smaller hands (like women and children).

Is there another update pushing through soon? I have not been able to play borderlands with anyone on my friends list since the last one went through. Really don't want to have to opt out of the dashboard because of this but it is pretty much my favorite coop game.

I can't promise when the next one will come out. We'd love to get new ones out like every other day, but we want to do our due diligence with everything. It shouldn't be too far away.

Have you let the Xbox team know about your issue? This is the kind of thing that we take very seriously. I see status reports every morning and afternoon in our "War/Shiproom" meetings.

After weeks of Halo MCC being stuck on Downloading Matchmaking Data for me it finally works and lets me join a lobby. Just in time for Halo 5.

for an update, still had the issue, so I change to opt-out of the new UI.
redownloaded the old UI and installed it.
It seems something else is causing the bad connections with Destiny and party chats as it was still a problem. so I will likely opt back in to the new UI. just wanted to test it to make sure. It apparently was just a coincidence that it started right after getting the new UI update.

still not sure what is causing the issue though, unless it was brought on with just the preview build in general. but now I know it wasn't caused by the new UI update. speedtest and pings test are good, using a wired connection. Will just have to keep testing stuff to figure it out i guess.

seems to be a random packet loss with my ISP. it just seems to mainly effect Destiny and Xbox Live, so never noticed it with anything else. but it is good to know it had nothing to do with the Xbox updates.

Sadly, despite being listed among the fixes, it does not appear my issue with formatting a new external drive had been fixed. Every time I go to format a new drive for Games and Apps, once I get to the screen to name the external drive, it still seems to essentially crash the entire format process right there and leave me staring at an endlessly spinning circle in the Settings menu. Just filed another bug report, hopefully it's just a matter of another less obvious bug in the formatting process that slipped by the team while they were making whatever fixes for this update. With Halo 5 and multiple other games releasing in the coming weeks, I'm gonna need a lot more than the 34.7 GB of free space I have right now.

Yeah my buddy is having problems with his external too. Can't believe we are going to have to opt out this far a long. It's been flawless for me until now but now I can't even play my favorite game and his external isn't working when he needs it for his halo install. Not good.

Also seeing on the Xbox forums that a ton of people in NXOE are having NAT issues. Glad I gave up trying to get mine open because it seems to not be an issue on my end. Can't see this new U/I launching in November at this point. Not with these big games coming out.
