    Re: Xbox One

I stand corrected. The slim will only benefit people with HDR 4K sets in terms of providing superior colors and dynamic lighting in games. But resolution and FPS will be about as identical as standard xb1

Scorpion is designed for 4K users with HDR tv but you as a 1080p tv owner can most def get one and see improvements over standard xb1

Phil is just trying to not lose sales of slim or xb1 standard with that comment.

Believe me that when you go buy scorpio and plug it in to 1080p tv or monitor you will gain advantages over xb1 standard.

I absolutely agree. Phil / MS just needs to tighten up that messaging so there is no confusion.

I honestly don't really get all the hype with the 4K stuff, doesn't really interest me too much.

I much prefer gaming on a monitor now anyway after switching to one a year ago, I'll probably just get a 4K monitor instead when the time comes.

Same here, I probably got about another year left on my current BenQ then I'll start looking at 4K BenQs, never going back to a tv

Can't wait to have Scorpio and Neo blasting 60fps unconditionally on my BenQ montior. Gonna be in gaming heaven

Well I am not sure if you ever played a game in 4K which is beyond amazing compared to 1080p

If you get a 4K monitor it will look way better and more immersive over the 1080p version

I am not sure monitors can do HDR but that in itself is a superior advantage in terms of PQ

Yup, for gaming I can never go back to playing on a TV. Sure games look really awesome at 55+ inches but the fluidity, minimal lag input, etc. make gaming on a monitor the best IMO.

I was looking at a few already and some are really reasonably priced, I'm sure as this 4K movement keeps going we will see more options and some really good buys.

I agree that playing on a monitor is amazing. Most big tvs have cray input lag but the reason I left monitor gaming was because Samsung came out with the 2015 line of tvs that have very low input lag. The 4K mid range JS7500 has 18ms of input lag which puts it close to competitive monitors.

My tv is the 9500 JS model and it has 21ms of input lag and my KD in BO3 has gone up a ton and i feel it when I play.

It wont replace the monitor response but is still excellent with the benefit of being 4K and having HDR which is game changing for visuals

Yeah thanks for the info. I'll have to do more research on all this stuff in the future as I don't really know much about it. I just keep hearing all these buzzwords like HDR, 4K, etc.

                        Re: Xbox One

A key quote from that article:

Could a developer revisit an existing game and do little tweaks once Scorpio is out?

Absolutely. A game like Halo 5 takes advantage of what we call “dynamic scaling,” so while the game is running on an Xbox One, as the scene gets more complex, it will scale down the resolution a bit in order to maintain 60 frames per second, so it always feels consistent. When that game is run on Project Scorpio, it’s effectively going to run at its max resolution the whole time. The game already has this dynamic scaling capability built into it.

But yeah, if teams look and say “Hey, there are things I would like to make better in the games that are out there to take advantage of Scorpio,” we’d be completely supportive of that. That said, it’s important for everybody to understand that new games that are going to come out are going to run on the original Xbox One, Xbox One S and Scorpio. We’re committed to making sure the library grows for everybody and nobody gets left behind. The console experience with those games has to be complete across every member of the family.

Basically it's just like Neo Mode on the ps4 side

Input lag is precisely why I stick mostly with Sony TVs. Zero lag on their sets. It's been a consistent problem with Samsung sets for years (although better recently).

Thinking about it some more, the power brick being inside scares me a bit. The original Xbox One was said to be designed to be on continuously, and my day one console pretty much has been. I wonder if the S will still be able to do this.

Also the UHD Bluray player is a big selling point for me, so I'm hoping they will add audio bitstreaming capability. Not being able to watch a UHD movie with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X would be a bit disappointing.
