Gonna need a link to spencer saying that it won't run any games in native 4k. Nothing I've read said that is going to be the case.

Re: Xbox One
That's not even possible, the Pro already runs at least NBA 2K natively at 4K right? There's no way that was said or is true.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Xbox One
I didn't realize saying I want Scorpio now would prove to be so controversial in here!
For me, I'm about to buy a 4k TV so I want a 4k player and it makes no sense to buy one when I'm definitely getting Scorpio...so bring it on, I'm hoping for October but I'm thinking it'll end up being December

Re: Xbox One
The Pro can currently run quite a few games in Native 4k. I'm not sure what back alley you're getting your info from, but 4.2tf to 6tf is 50% power upgrade over the upgraded Pro. That's GPU alone, before adding the upgraded additional specs.
I'll have one, along with the pro and the X1S. Once scorpio releases, it'll be on my tv, and the x1s will move to the kids room. If another version comes out in 2-3 years, then I'm sure I'll have it as well as long as the software puts the specs to good use.
If you wait on new processors, just like in the pc world, the latest and greatest is always going to be right around the corner.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Xbox One
Yeah why not wait 10 years and the games will be crazy better? And so many more flops!!
It's a certain never win situation to go down that road. I'm 46 years old, I'm not waiting, I'm buying and using asap

Re: Xbox One
Running a game in native 4K resolution and it actually being rendered in 4K two different things. The techniques used to run a game as native 4K is different than actually being developed and rendered in 4K. The consoles simply don't have the power to do it. The workarounds is what allows them to bypass it and thus, advertise it as native 4K even though it technically isn't because it wasn't rendered in 4K.
Spencer article -
Xbox Scorpio Will Still Render Some Games In Native 4K Says Xbox Head; Is “Confident” In The ResultsThe Xbox Scorpio will still play some games in native 4K resolution, Microsoft’s head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, confirmed.
Basically, like NBA 2K17 (and others), games will run in native 4K but using techniques to run them in 4K resolution is not the same thing as the games being developed and rendered from the ground up in native 4K.
The Scorpio conversation isn't controversial at all in here.
I want Microsoft to delay Scorpio a year in order to hopefully, add in a far better CPU, increase the GPU/RAM, etc. and go all out and make it their next gen console as opposed to a mid gen console being attached to a brand that they should move on from.
That's why I want it to be delayed. I don't want it to be a half-assed PlayStation 4 PRO. I actually want it to be what it says it's going to be as opposed to using techniques that allow what they're saying to be true despite it not actually being the truth.
In other words, I want Scorpio to truly be a next gen console and leap to where even when PS5 releases, it will still be at the very least equal, if not still better.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Isnt the ps4 pro using checkerboard rendering and the scorpio said to use sparce rendering?
Scorpio also may use interpolation which will land it on par with the pro at least. ...
Definitely aren't on par with high end gaming PCs that run real native 4K without rendering techniques.

And they don't cost $1500 either so....
And wanting Scorpio to be delayed is silly, just don't buy it and buy the next "real version" of Xbox.
However, I got news for you guys who don't like the mid console refresh, it's here to stay.
Don't look at it like a bad thing though, be happy our games and controllers don't need replaced every few years because we have to start from scratch.
That's one PC idea i like them stealing actually..

Re: Xbox One
Their release plans are not my concern
I get the argument on delay but that's not realistic.
Not even a real discussion IMO.
To @ricky24, MS was doing a lot of talking about Sony's efforts into 4K and their rendering, and how they would have native 4K and so on...
but the truth, in the end, is that this system is less powerful than what they said initially, and they will be using the same techniques to develop for it as Sony is currently doing.
Basically, we will now have a PS Pro and an Xbox Pro... Consoles aren't at that total true 4K stage yet.Last edited by 23; 02-11-2017, 01:18 AM.Comment

Re: Xbox One
It also won't be 4K like people are believing it will. It's literally not technologically feasible with the parts they have to have big budget games running at 4K. Utterly impossible at this point in time.
Some games will cut corners and hit 4K, absolutely. Some games that aren't graphically intensive will be native 4K, again absolutely.
The system is just as powerful as they always advertised. They said ~6TFlops, and that's what it is. If people don't want to do research (or listen to people [even people in this very thread] that have been saying for months what this means) then that's on them.
PCs aren't at a true 4K stage without cutting corners or dropping framerates down to non-ideal numbers. No way in hell a console will be first, especially considering that when the PS4/XBOne were released they are mid-tier PC power. These refreshes just bring them back closer to where they were in relation.badComment

Re: Xbox One
I really don't care if something is "true" 4k if it looks great on my 4k TV and it's an upgrade and I'd wager most consumers feel the same and both companies know it.
