A differing opinion on the reveal. Thought I'd balance the scales a bit.

Meh. Not a big fan of the cases but it could be much worse, and in the long run it doesn't matter one bit what's on it.

I don't know the sizing of it, but it looks like an original Xbox case mated with a bluray case.

Not bad, nothing special - I'm just not a fan of the green.

What I'd love one day is for a game system to use the full art steel cases. That would have the potential to be awesome, but it could also suck.

I love the new case, looks sleek, high-tech and I suppose it helps I'm a huge Forza nut. I do love the green as well. Great job MS!

I'm intrigued. I hope it's not a lot of FPS though.

More details on this agreement with MS ( and Sony i bet) and select retailers. All starting to be clear now and I get it and hope the game developers will truly get their share, but how much do we lose in the end when all is said and done. I never buy used, but I sell back all the time for new purchases.

That's what I'm going, a 360 price cut. Makes sense.

I highly doubt XBL will drop in price because it's still the subscription for XBone.

I could see them raising the price for total and say that there will be separate sub options for 360/XBone (with the 360 only option getting a drop) but if it truly is going to be just one total sub for the both of them, I can't see a price drop.

In reality, neither of us can be wrong or right yet - and that's not even what this is about.
I think jmood, ubernoob, and I are in the same place. Ubernoob is less positive on MS (and understandably so) whereas jmood and I are more up on the items they announced.

We all just need more info to really go further. MS has gone over way more than Sony has, need to know more about the PS4 as well as games on both before I commit.

That's what a high-ranking UK industry source explained to me this afternoon.

The reason there's all this confusion is because Microsoft hasn't decided what the activation fee will be yet. The £35 figure reported in the story below sounds too high - perhaps it includes the shop's sale price as well.

My source confirmed that part of that activation fee will go to a publisher and part to Microsoft.

What this means for second-hand games is that Microsoft effectively controls how much they cost, because it controls the activation fee. Whether that fee will move up or down or diminish over time isn't clear. But it does mean second-hand games will probably be more expensive than they are now.

My source didn't know what Sony was up to but doubts the PlayStation maker will do the same thing, not because it's angelic but because it lacks the kind of pricey infrastructure something like this requires.
Update #2: Microsoft has finally attempted to explain its used-game strategy, and it seems like the responsibility per …

I don't get why Microsoft wont just come out with how it would work for gamers. I get that the fee might change but no one except the stores cares about that.

Yeah, MS could easily avoid that by just saying "pay a fee" without throwing a number out there.

As of now, there's no real official information out there and it's not like this is a minor issue to a large audience. It shouldn't be this hard to give some information.
