It seemed like they were saying it would provide a boost of some sort when connect to the internet from the way I interpreted it. Could be wrong though. My guess is the same as yours as it will probably be more useful in the future than right when the console releases.

Turtle Beach Manufacturing Headsets (As I'm sure we all figured)
“In Turtle Beach we have a partner that can help Microsoft deliver world class gaming audio experiences to our customers,” said Turtle Beach’s director of strategic alliances Branden Powell. “Turtle Beach has consistently innovated in wireless, surround sound, and other features and we are looking forward to working with them.”Secondly, Microsoft told Game Informer that the new Xbox controller features a “high speed data port” which will allow for new peripherals to be used -- including stereo headsets -- through the controller. Let’s hope Turtle Beach is looking at that functionality.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Load times? That's from the HDD/SSD.
Computations? Again, what real tangible value is there? A few more explosions in the distance? A bit different lighting overall? Our complaints with this gen (and next gen) will never be with the actual graphics of the game.
The tech greatly interests me, but I fail to see any real tangible value from this technology in this day and age - it just seems to be a bunch of buzzwords and marketing phrases thrown out there.
It may be necessary to make the games look as good as the PS4 eventually though - The PS4 has faster ram with 7GB dedicated to game (1GB to the OS) while the 360 has (very minimally) slower ram with 5GB dedicated to game (3GB to the OS.)badComment

Re: Xbox One
I think we can both agree on this one, the Cloud tech will be great one day but it's got a lot of issues now. Another thing that worries me, just in general, about all of your stuff on the Cloud is security. Right now it's up to me to protect my stuff and I'm pretty confident that I do a pretty good job of it but when I give up everything, and I speak in a broad sense, not just video games to some server out there somewhere I really begin to wonder.
And I don't just mean security, I mean crashes as well. I mean, yeah all your stuff is stored in the Cloud, it's "safe" is what they preach to us now but we've heard plenty of times of storage servers crashing. If I control my own media I can make backups, make sure I have things backed up, etc, but when all of the media goes to a Cloud somewhere it's out of my control.
So although I like the general idea of the Cloud the more I think about it the more I hope that we do not go EXCLUSIVELY Cloud because there's a lot of scary stuff regarding privacy and security about going that route.Joshua:

I understand that boost would come from when connected - but as of now what kind of boost could we get?

I see the cloud stuff being used to address cpu heavy things like AI, literally have thousands residents reacting to something rather than people in a small area and other elements strategically triggered based on where the game is funneling you or expects you to be.
More sceptical of graphical improvements, but then again the first time I used Gaikai it was nearly flawless.

The funny thing is I don't think either one of us have a preference either way.
I don't want MS to fail any more than I want Sony to fail - I'd rather see both succeed, as I'm sure jmood would. I just have strong feelings that MS is heading in the wrong direction and J is taking a more wait and see.
In reality, neither of us can be wrong or right yet - and that's not even what this is about.badComment

Re: Xbox One
At the next CES or something I'd really love to see a Xbox One setup with Illumiroom and using Google Glass for the HUD on whatever game is being played.
Edit: Major Nelson posted a X1 case. /shrug. If it was Madden or something I might like it more. Just think it's clean and looks nice mostly because it's something different.
