It doesn't take a tech head to know that Internet bandwidth is not even close to anything surmountable for "performance enhancing memory".

All this really is, is another way to fully control content in games.

      Don't kid yourself. Seriously.

I'm not even going to pretend like I know what any of that stuff can actually do, what I'm saying is that trusting neogaf analysis on something like that is not a good idea.

Just wanted to make that point. It'll all come out in the end, but you know that Sony will fall in line with used games stuff. Why would they want to piss off developers/publishers?

I'll wait to hear more details, I'm just not sold that PS4 is the dream machine because they haven't addressed a majority of issues yet.
One reason is they do not have the cash flow to make such a risky and costly infrastructure for this type of thing.

What thread have you been reading, I am not talking about the common user here. You do realize how many guys that do this sort of thing are members there right, you do realize that some are in the tech world and that some people can differentiate between fanboy rumor and educated rationale right?

The big thread talking about how the cloud service stuff would affect games. You're right, there are people on neogaf who are in the industry and there are just as many who aren't but try to act like they have inside knowledge.

The reason they've cast such a wide net, they want to expand the next generation to 1 billion consoles sold.

Most comments on the article sum up my feelings well about these quotes from them.

Also, this quote: ""To sell another 25 million, half of those will probably come from replacements, but half will come from new buyers. And the way we’ll break into those segments is by hitting new price points, getting new classes of entertainment to come with the Xbox, and breaking into new customer segments. So you’ll see the Xbox 360 continue to exist, even as we launch the next generation Xbox One."

I'm glad they expect another 13 million 360s to need replacement in the near future.

1 billion consoles sold? Not going to happen for a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time.

I'm pretty sure if you combine all the console generations to date, there haven't been 1 billion sold.

                          1.25b, 290m since 2004 not including the PS2.

The overall point is continuing the momentum of each console generation growing 30% and rather than 400m next gen striving to expand the market further and do much better than that.

Can't post it because I'm on my phone, but apparently remote play (letting your friends play a part for you like on the PS4) is enabled through Skype on the XBO.

Look at what the Wii did...people/families who normally didn't have consoles started buying them.

I think that's what MS is trying to do. If they make this a stellar blu-ray, streaming, and entertainment box that augments your cable, along with having great games, then more people will be likely to buy it.

I'd rather buy something like this than spend a similar amount for a "smart" blu-ray player that isn't as easy to use or intuitive. My Sony blu-ray player's smart features work but can be frustrating too.

This is the mindset though, because you're boxing yourself in if you're "just games"...

Sounds good. If they could pull off remote play of our own Xbox One to a tablet or smartphone thru SmartGlass, then that would be the ultimate portable console.
