Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I read the dollar deal only works if you have 36 months not anything over right? I ask because I recently paid for a year of live..

The maximum is 36 months/3 years. But it does combine Gold and Game Pass so if you have Game Pass for 3 months and Gold for 12 months, you'll basically get both for 15 months plus the extra month for $1. Hope this helps.

It is 36 months max but it ends up being a deal even if over.

I had 26 months of live and 14 months of game pass already. Total of 40 months. Initially it seems like the dollar upgrade would lose me 4 months, but you get more in return. The dollar turned my 26 months of gold into 36 months. My 14 months of game pass into 36 months. And added 36 months of PC game pass.

I signed up for Game Pass a month ago when it was $1 for 3 months. Figured why not? Then I had GameStop credit so I bought Xbox currency and then proceeded to buy Gold for $60 for a year. So I had just over 2 months of Game Pass remaining and 12 months for Gold. Did Ultimate for $1 so I now have both through September 20th 2020. Granted, others definitely got a better deal but for under $4 a month, having both is a steal.

Plus, I was going to sign up for Game Pass in September for Gears 5 anyway so that would have been $10 (if no sale) and another $10 later this year to play The Outer Worlds so I figured, okay, im already going to be paying at least $20 anyway so I said screw it, I'll just buy Gold for a year and then upgrade it all to Ultimate.

Looks like CD keys has raised their price on Xbox live memberships. I remember paying 40 something for a year now its only $5 off from $60.

Hopefully, Spencer is able to get the Japanese publishers on board for next gen in regards to releasing those Japanese games (and third party exclusives in general) on both consoles on the same day as opposed to months/years later or not at all. This will only increase the appeal of the console. Granted, it's a small market but still, every little bit helps make the brand even better as a whole.
Yeah....I can see how Sony's a draw, but with me not buying stuff at release anymore (I haven't even played RDR2 yet), I've realized that playing all main games doesn't really matter to me like it used to. Missing out on TLOU, Horizon, etc isn't the end of the world.

Now with Game Pass I'm playing more games anyways (like Borderlands 2 that was recently added...I'll check out Metro Exodus, etc). I really do think/hope that MS's exclusives will keep getting better, but missing out on a few Sony games a year is no biggie to me personally.

That didn't used to be the case though, I used to buy everything and rarely play it all lol

Also wasnt sure where too post this (e3 thread or here) but I posted in both:

So I was thinking about Microsofts future with Gaming. Microsoft is very friendly with competitors recently and it would not surprise me if next gen or earlier becomes somewhat of a mixed first party gen. Allowing pretty much all their first party games on PC as well day one has me thinking in that direction as well.

Hell Microsoft even pitched Halo MC Collection too Sony and kept emphasizing about "Play how you want, with whoever you want." You throw in that Cloud partnership with Sony as well I think it's going too lead too some sort of huge crossover crossplay thing.

In other words, I can see Microsoft expanding their IPs to other platforms (If that platform allows it) and allowing Cross Play from the beginning. This could also mean you could possibly see games that Microsoft own the right too, Banjo Kazooie, being made for Switch, etc.

                      Thoughts?

I just started renting again from GameFly mainly because there's so many games that I have on my list for the rest of 2019 (between 15-20 including a few games that are 50/50) and I simply can't miss out on the greatest games of the generation. Did that when I was young and all the classics I missed out on due to always playing sports and puzzle games is insane.

I don't mind missing out on an average game or a game that's swimming in 7's here and there especially if doesn't interest me to begin with but the best games that do interest me, I simply don't want to miss out on.
Despite my Xbox One X not being my primary, im glad I still own it because Gears 5 is three months away and I would be disappointed not being able to play the game. Plus, The Outer Worlds is a "free bonus" via Game Pass. Anything else I get between now and September 2020 is just icing on the cake.

My suggestion is that if you own PS4/Switch, rent from GameFly. They're not bad and you can get games shipped to you on release. For example, they shipped out Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night to me earlier today which isn't worth $40 for me but a rental? Sure, why not? I'll give it a chance. $25 for 2 games a month. $12.50 a game. Can't beat that. And depending on the length of the game, I can get a 3rd and sometimes a 4th game in a month.

Game Pass is great when it gets games day one that I want to play. Mutant Year Zero was the first followed by Gears 5 and The Outer Worlds. Problem with other games like Metro Exodus (which I bought using my GameStop credit day one for $60 as I like THQ Nordic and 4A Games is an excellent developer) is that I have already played them.

I also hope that Microsoft's exclusives get better but that all remains to be seen. At least next gen kicks off with what should be a great exclusive day on in Halo Infinite so while outside of Gears 5 (and Ori 2 in 2020), Xbox One is basically done, Xbox 4 will already be starting off with a great exclusive, at least for me anyway.
I'm a console gamer first and foremost before any favoritism which I own all three. Being able to play anything I want is great because I know if I didn't, I would remember back to when I was a kid/teenager and missed out on so many classics. Just don't want that to ever happen again.

For the most part, I agree. Spencer simply doesn't care where you play. Xbox, PC, mobile, tablet, etc. Microsoft simply wants to get gamers in their eco-system via Game Pass or buying the games in general on any platform.
I'm a huge fan of Colin Moriarty who was the source of that Halo MCC to PS4 rumor but unless it was the MCC remaster from a year ago, I find it hard to believe because I think he said, years ago. That I don't believe because before Spencer was put in charge, it was simply a different direction and I don't believe that Terry Myerson would have done that whatsoever.

With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually happens.

I get where you're coming from. I just literally don't have enough time to warrant 2 ecosystems honestly. Right now I'm lucky if I get maybe one night a week where I'm not super tired lol. My 2 1/2 year old wakes her sister up at 5:30-6am, so there's no early weekend time like I used to have when my son is asleep. I know this'll get better as kids get older, but we have one on the way so that resets the counter lol. Gaming takes a back seat to life a bit.

Totally valid not to want to miss great games, but if I don't have enough time for them anyways then I'm just cheaper and Game Pass lets me play a ton of great stuff and I can add a game here or there.

Separately, Naughty Dog was getting a bit stale for me, and GOW was never a personal favorite when I did have PS3, so it's really not that bad. I think the only thing I've truly missed out on was Horizon Zero Dawn. Even Death Stranding I am not that hyped for. I've tried to play Kojima games and just never get that into them.

Not ripping on Sony, just realizing that my personal tastes can let me be with just one ecosystem.

With toddlers/kids and a newborn on the way, a one console eco-system is fully understandable as you obviously barely have any time as it is.

Agree 100% with God of War based on what is WAS as opposed to what it is now. I quit after the original GOW on PS2 but GOW 2018 is on a whole new level, direction, perspective, story, etc. It's my second best game of the generation for a reason - it's simply superb in nearly every aspect and first time since the original PS2 game, im actually invested and care about the universe of God of War and Kratos.

Yeah, I can understand the Naughty Dog fatigue as I was disappointed with Uncharted 4 but Lost Legacy brought me right back as it was what I wanted U4 to be but wasn't. TLOUP2 is an easy game of the generation contender minimum as the original was my game of the generation for last gen.

Horizon Zero Dawn was an amazing action RPG but what makes it more impressive is the simple fact that Guerrilla went from a FPS linear game to an open world third person action RPG and they simply nailed it. Very hyped for the guaranteed sequel.

Death Stranding is one of the few PS4 Sony published exclusives that I have zero interest in. Haven't completed a Kojima game since MGS 2 and that turned me off so much, I don't really care about his games anymore. Kojima is one of the all time best developers and minds, no doubt and he has my respect but his games simply aren't for me. Just "way too out there" in my opinion.

I know that you're not ripping Sony whatsoever and with soon to be three kids, it's amazing that you even have time to game at all.

For me, I just don't want to repeat what I did when I was a kid/teenager because I'll look back and be like, crap, look at all the games I missed out on.

Hopefully you get to complete Metro Exodus as it's an excellent game and 4A Games has gotten better with each game they've developed and hopefully, you'll at least be able to play Gears 5 which from what I know should be an easy 90+ OC score and game of the year contender.

Gears 5 and Halo Infinite are going to do for their respective franchises what God of War 2018 did for that franchise - reinvent and revitalize it. And I for one, am very hyped and looking forward to September 6th.

Yeah....and Game Pass gets me games like Prey or Metro that I wouldn't play otherwise. Prey was amazing.

I get not wanting to miss stuff though. Part of me does miss not playing things, but I just have to prioritize my use of money too so buying a 60 buck game is tough depending on the game.
