    Re: Xbox One

As far as the always online issue goes unless i'm late with this clip...wow really?

    IGN Article http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/...says-microsoft

"In an interview filmed prior to Microsoft’s E3 2013 press briefing and published on GameTrailers, Microsoft’s Don Mattrick has addressed concerns about the compulsory connectivity requirements of Xbox One."

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it’s called Xbox 360,” said Mattrick."

“Seriously, when I read the blogs and thought about who’s really the most impacted there was a person who said, ‘Hey I’m on a nuclear sub.’ And I don’t even know what it means to be on a nuclear sub but I’ve got to imagine it’s not easy to get an internet connection. But hey, I can empathise; if I was on a sub I’d be disappointed."

“It’s a service-based world, if you think about things and how they get better with an internet connection, that’s a design choice we’ve made. I think people will appreciate it... We did a lot of testing, a lot of consumer research and I think we made a good choice.”

“If you have zero access to the Internet, that is an offline device.”
Mattrick is aware of the kinds of gamers who’ll be missing out on Xbox One, and “absolutely” anticipated some blowback, but went on to reiterate he feels they have made the right call."

...kinda messed up to hear this..its like they are saying don't like what we are doing next gen .Play your 360 instead or MOVE ON!!!..I guess this was a blow to people serving in the forces too smh.

      Re: Xbox One

I preordered my Xbox One today. I couldn't be happier with my decision. I think the long term vision that the folks at Microsoft have is brilliant. I just don't think they're conveying the message very well at all. Personally for me though the Xbox One is something that meets all of my needs as a gamer. I use Netflix and HBO Go all of the time. I'm always connected to the internet. I hardly play any single player games. I feel as though Xbox does online way better. I'm very open to new ideas and like I said I really like the direction Microsoft chose with the cloud computing aspect. I also think Microsoft will be offering more deals in the game marketplace. I would say we're only a generation away from going completely digital and going to a consumer model exactly like steam.

Either way, it's not about the first 1,000,000 consoles sold. It's about the first 30,000,000. We're years away from determining who has won this generation and Microsoft knows this.

Can't wait to play with the new controller as well...esp. with what they've done with the triggers and new rumble features.

The control was a huge factor in my decision...love the 360 control and this one looks even better.

I wouldn't let a controller be your selling point. You do realize you can use the 360 controller on the PS3 and vice versa, right?

I am looking forward to getting a new XBone controller for my PC though.

Really a crappy response, just shows the arrogance from Microsoft.

It saddens me honestly because I have been such a XBOX lover since day one, but I cant get with what Microsoft has done with the XBOX one.

Like I tell my friends I'm loyal to my money and not any company, because this type of things always happens when a company get cocky.

It's not the main selling point for me, the games are...it's a factor though.

Some companies sell adapters and such that allow you to use controllers cross-console.

Though, thinking about it... it may not work for the PS4, since they are implementing the touchpad on their controller. May still work for basic compatibility though but obviously that's still up in the air.

There is also a crazy dude out there that disassembled his 360 and Sixaxxis controller, and put the Sixaxxis guts in the 360 shell. I may try it with my extra controllers laying around some day just for fun (because I won't miss them when I inevitably screw it up.) Here's a Link to that article.

Oh now I remember that tech was always interested in that a while back.. may give it a look sometime. Got a few friends with PS3's would be cool to be able to take my 360 controllers when playing with them.

Why wait?? It WILL happen! Your Internet is bound to go out. Why waste money that can already go towards a ps4.

If you're going to trade it in as soon as it goes out, why wait for that to happen??

It's very funny to me that they sound as pompous and arrogant as Sony did when they announced the ps3 & it's rediculous $599 price point. The roles have certainly flipped in regards to attitudes. Sony has done a 180 & Ms has done the same. They claimed they talked to consumers about some of these ideas which I find untruthful. I can't see any gamer who would tell Ms that they want a system that has some of the restrictions and requirements as x1. I can certainly see some publishers and internet providers pushing for them though. Weird indeed.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
