If you're excited for the XBone good for you. I hope you enjoy your purchase, because I hate to see people displeased with major gaming purchases.

Don't try to speak for other people on what they will or will not purchase though, you just sound petty, foolish and like you're trying to justify your purchase to something or someone.
I didn't say you were one of those people. In my opinion most will. In no way does that mean i'm speaking for other people.

I didn't purchase anything yet. The console comes out in November. I'm actually buying both when they are released and i hope they both succeed since that is what's best for all of us.

Guys, can anybody tell me what would be wrong with this solution? They can solve the licensing verification/24 hr. Online check issues in two ways...

      1. You have your physical copy. That is your game. You can play it offline, resell it, let a friend borrow it, etc...just as you can do today. It does come with a verification code so you can download it online to your hard drive. You WILL need to check in every 24 hrs to play your download, but your physical copy, you can do what you please with it. This is for games that you really want to play because once you use the verification code for that game, a resold version no longer has the liscense.

      2. You have your digital downloads. You can download your game to a hard drive once you buy it, but you do have to have a 24 hr online check in to play those as well. However, you can sell your downloads however you see fit through a trade system. These are also cheaper than the physical copies with the license.

      Prices:
Physical copy with the license: $60
      Just physical copy: $40
      Digital download: $35

      What do you guys think?

The idea that we can share our libraries with others is way cool.

IF i didn't have internet then i would be bummed and i can sympathize with those people. The rest just need to get a grip or buy a PS4.
I agree,... I only like used games for purchase not for trade. I still have maddens and 2ks dating back to 2k7. The only reason I like buying used is that the quality of games were rarely worth $60.00, but if the overall quality of games will increase based on devs having access to more power and technology such as the cloud development then I am not as concerned with a potential loss of used games. Further I don't really want to drive to gamestop and waste time standing in line etc, I would much rather prefer to purchase games digitally and have those games saved to a harddrive rather having the current clutter of about 40 Xbox 360 game cases.

Regarding number 1 that won't work. Say you use your code to download your digital version and you give the disc version to a friend. So now your playing the digital version your friend has the disc version all from one $65 transaction. M$ and the publisher loses out in that case.

I here ya. But if they wanna go digital downloads for the future then we need bigger HDDs. 500gb isn't enough. And I don't wanna have to delete stuff to make space then re download it at a later time. Should have been at least 1TB. But its obvious next year they will debut a 750gb HDD and the year after finally a TB just to get more money out of us.

                • MS understands the current opinion of Xbox and they are working to "educate" the masses but it doesn't sound like they are considering changing the DRM strategy in any way, including the 24 hour check-in.
                • The 24 hour check-in was not designed as DRM but as a system to update your game library for when you give games to friends. I pointed out that they're now limiting game trades and asked why would it be a "feature" to update so often? He didn't have a good answer. They don't seem to understand that it doesn't matter WHY they have the check-in, the fact that it exists is a disadvantage to consumers.
                • MS will likely implement a system where you can order/buy game discs at any time, and they will "activate" the game on release date, thereby locking down leaks and people playing early.
                • MS considers the PS4 an "Xbox 360 version 2" in that the PS4 doesn't have many of the social and multi-tasking features the Xbone does. It doesn't seem like MS really believes they are in competition with Sony at this point. He did say that MS considers this point in time to be a "jump ball" in that neither system is backwards compatible and users may easily switch platforms.
                • MS believes that while the PS4 may have slightly faster graphics RAM, the graphics RAM in the PS4 will run hotter and harder to cool. They also believe that the PS4 hardware is not as optimized as the Xbone and thus the systems will be evenly matched or Xbox will perform better.
                • MS understands Don Mattrick of MS is making MS sound even worse and they're trying to essentially get him to stop talking.
                • Regarding military personnel playing consoles: PS3/PS4 isn't allowed on DoD networks so they're not worried that military members will switch to PS while on overseas deployment.
                • I told him that although I love Xbox and XBL, if all my friends move to PSN, I'd be going too. He said they understood that and were going to be working to actively change the messaging and marketing campaigns.
                • MS isn't super concerned at this point because they don't think buying decisions are being made yet. Pre-orders, yes, but until people have the consoles, the war won't really start.
                • The two free games per month you'll get as an XBL member are yours to keep, unlike the many free games on PSN, which you can't play after you cancel your PSN membership.
                • Apparently Major Nelson is now in an interview with Reddit officially, so hopefully we'll soon have more info to augment this.

Let me know if you have questions!
EDIT: I've been in touch with Major Nelson and he made it clear that he didn't understand that the information he gave me was going to be passed along to others. I misunderstood, obviously. He was very gracious and took extra time to provide me additional info about Xbox and XBL. MS is doing some really cool things with cloud processing that I think will very much enhance the abilities of the Xbox One and differentiate it from the PS4.
I asked specifically about the possibility of forgoing the 24-hr check-in if the user has a physical disc. He said he'd do some research and get back to me. I'll update this post with that info when he provides it.
I also attended a pretty cool presentation demoing some new Kinect features for more hardcore games. It included raising or lowering your controller to raise/lower a shield, and physically leaning your body side to side to take cover. This was in addition to all the normal physical buttons. I could actually see myself using Kinect in this capacity where I never used it before (I tried Dance Central but didn't like it and the Kinect has pretty much sat unused since).
After talking to Major Nelson and learning more about the aforementioned new features, I am definitely more excited about the Xbox One and I'm cautiously optimistic that Microsoft will address the issues that the community is currently presenting. Microsoft seems very community focused and my faith is returning in the Xbox platform.

                -------------------------------------------------------------------------

A lot of good stuff in there (reddit), we'll see but I definitely liked reading some of that. The XBOX ONE can't come soon enough, I'm pumped up for it's arrival.
You do realize that it just shows how arrogant Microsoft is being and how blind they are to what's going on right?

The only good thing in there for Microsoft is the fact that they're shutting Mattrick

Tonight go me really excited about the XO; I wanted to play the NCAA Football 14 demo but I also wanted to watch the NBA Finals game, so I chose to watch the game, with the XboxONE I won't have to choose, I can do both at the same time!

I can't wait to buy my Xbox One, connect it, tell my Kinect to turn it on. Download any game I want without going to the store. Skype with all of my buddies I've been playing with for the past eight years. Maybe even share my games with my cousin who lives in NYC. Use my tablet to control HBO Go or Netflix. I'll connect my One from day one and it'll never not be connected to the internet.

I agree with everything you just said but that last part you can't control if you are always connected to the internet, never know what can happen. But yeah I can't wait to watch football games and Skype my buddies at the same time! Though right now all of my friends and family seems like they are getting a PS4, hopefully I can get them to change their mind.

Xbox One's Kinect 2.0 Could Be Affected By New Government Privacy Act.

A new bill in the works from state representatives Mike Capuano (D-MA) and Walter Jones (R-NC) called the “We Are Watching You Act”, could prevent corporations from doing exactly what Microsoft is doing with Kinect 2.0, by first warning users about being watched and having their data stored by the company.

I find the last line in this interesting.

Can't you just be happy with your purchase and let them be happy with what they choose for themselves?

Even with me being the biggest ps4 homer in here, I wouldn't try to change anyone's decision about purchasing the XBone and not the ps4. That's up for them to decide. This is when I think the console wars get ridiculous - when fanboys of one side try to tell the other side to not buy what they have decided fit themselves.

I find it more fun to play online with people you know in real life. What's the point of having all these apps like Skype if you can't use them with people you know, heck this is why I don't use my mic most of the time on Xbox Live, I only use it when someone I know in real life is playing.

So then, just curiosity speaking here... Wouldn't it make a bit more sense to get a PS4 in that situation?

You said you want to play online with people you know. The people you know are getting a ps4. You seem to be the odd one out in that group.

Heck, you could just get both and plug the quads HDMI into the XBone if those features are that important to you. I'm also not sure that the PS4 won't have some form of Skype or chat program. The Vita has it currently if I'm not mistaken.
