Does anyone see the dedicated servers thing being a big advantage to Microsoft? I don't know enough about the technical stuff that makes online games work to know if that is a key point or not.

I thought it was only until the launch of the Xbox One in November? Could have sworn that's what was said at the E3 briefing.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

One positive thing I've heard is that there will no longer be host advantagesComment

You guys are right. I was going by what was said @ E3 by MS & not by what was clarified by the gaming press.
Here's hoping MS continues that perk to Gold Members after the XB-1 launch

Re: Xbox One
Other than launch arcade titles what will be available for them to offer for free?

Re: Xbox One
And when a lot of people take issue and question Xbox, the only reaction is "That's just the way it's going to be, go play your 360. There is a vision that you can't see in which Microsoft is pursuing" . Yet, I've not heard what this magical vision is with DRM, Online Connecting, Kinect and how that benefits gamers, or anyone for that matter ?
I am not sure it is the best strategy to be an obnoxious jerk when coming out with a new product. I am more than slightly leaning toward the PS4 next generation for many reasons.Comment

MS loves big companies. Also, it gives them more control in general.
Also, it could be indirectly related to the piracy thing (which ties in to DRM) since indie devs have been proving for years that good games sell, disproving big publishers main talking points in forcing DRM. That's more on the plausible conspiracy theory side than actual fact though (in relation to the XBone.)
If you seriously look at it, it wreaks of big 4 takeover, not unlike antitrust issues MSFT faced in the past. That is why MSFT/EA/Activision/Ubisoft are the main culprits just salivating with policies ready to release.
You don't make that crap up overnight since E3. This has been in the world a long long time.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 06-18-2013, 03:57 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

So there is no advantage of one over the other with this. It will definitely help with the host advantage.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

LOL. Here we go again. Glad to see you are bringing your indecisiveness over to the new consoles.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Which adds to what someone earlier in this thread said, DRM will benefit and make these large companies monopolize the game publishing and developing front, since consumers will be less inclined to take a risk on a smaller known game or franchise due to the lack of being able to easily resell it.

I said a while back that if indeed the big publishers convinced Xbox to go this route (at the time presuming PS4 was going in similar direction) it was a brilliant business move on their part. Small dev studios and publishers would basically be screwed fighting a losing battle in a market where gamers would not be taking risks and settling for IPs and publishers they have been groomed to adore.
1) Their antitrust past.
2) Publishers didn't tell them to have 24 hour checks, Kinect always connected, and DRM.
3) You don't see Sony adopting these same policies on their first party or console itself (which justifies #2).
People are not seeing the much larger repercussion. And definitely underestimate the power of the gamer dollar.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment
