I don't see what the problem is. People have something called a "CHOICE" it's the most profound thing we have in life. Why because it's ours not somebody else's.

If this policy is so draconian as suggested then people will vote with their wallets.

Is it though? We know that's Microsoft's opinion but if a year and a half down the road the ps4 is beating the xone handily, Microsoft will abandon a lot of these features.

The biggest issue is honestly the price. Anybody who is on the fence is going to Sony.

If your a online guy and can do all that stuff then the Xbox One delivers, but if not it just seems like they are saying. "We're the cool kids, and we only care about our group nobody else". While the other system seem like they wanna befriend everybody no matter who you are.

Swamp, I totally understand where your coming from. We still have 5 months until both consoles launch. Continue to do your research. Educate yourself & when your ready jump in.

There's nothing wrong with that. I'm pretty sure your not the only 1 who feels the way you do.

Something like 90% of households with a computer have a broadband connection, it's a lot of gamers but the reason you do it is to move forward and try and innovate. Just buying a product doesn't equal a bigger audience, Sony was in quite the pickle when people were buying PS3s and no games just for the Blu-Ray functionality.

If you get a much better return on investment from the connected gamers then you don't need the rest right now. They will inevitably become connected gamers anyways - then you share your Xbox One library with them and they now have several dozen games to play.

Also, gamers don't buy a Wii U, parents and Nintendo fans do, gamers who want a Wii U also have a traditional console to play games on . The MS and Sony E3 pressers had one thing in common, they displayed a ton of games the Wii U will never get nor have the horsepower to run.

You've got to consider what features/options stack up best for your situation (I'm getting a PS4 at launch, not an Xbox One) and there's your decision.

I will say this since I am a half cup full kinda guy, the fact that Microsoft is willing to institute a DRM policy has to mean that they will have a pretty solid 1st party game offering.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in a XBone meeting. There had to be lively debate when DRM and always online features came up. Someone had to tell someone in management that having restrictions do not sell more consoles.

I am very interested in the media aspect of the X1, just not the game portion of it. I'm my eyes, that does not bode well for Microsoft.

They didn't announce it but there was mention of it being a "timed exclusive". So if there is any platform it could come to other than X1 it would be PC. I'm holding out hope that happens. It looks really cool and would like to play it, just not going to get a X1 for it.

Based on all of the information received I am going PS4. I had the 360 and went to PS3. I have no loyalty to a brand.

If the consoles switched price and features I would go X1

I don't take issue with Xbox personally, I just won't buy it - I agree. But I don't see your reality. The average age of Gamers is getting older (Late 20's to mid 30's) because we've grown up in Atari, Nes, console days. As part of that demographic, it's pretty simple 1.) console, 2.) put game in console , 3.) play. That's not changing, the "social aspects" are cool but this demographic aren't blowing up twitter, instagram, and facebook - Frontier city doesn't interest us and neither do a lot of the "it" phone games ...

The gaming industry is changing for those that were/are not Hardcore gamers, that's one thing I think you and Xbox are missing. The lite/hardcore gamer majority isn't changing, and xbox one with a higher price, restrictions, and being television remote control isn't enough to majorly CHange this group of gamers - Which is an issue because if gamers are turning away from a GAMING CONSOLE, why in the world would a family, or casual gamer, non gamer pay more to purchase it? I think that's the issue that is being missed by some here that think it's as easy as "Well, online doesn't bother me, so either get on board or jump".. You're not realists, you're delusional in the market and delusional in the reality of internet connectivity/quality across the nation.

And when a lot of people take issue and question Xbox, the only reaction is "That's just the way it's going to be, go play your 360. There is a vision that you can't see in which Microsoft is pursuing" . Yet, I've not heard what this magical vision is with DRM, Online Connecting, Kinect and how that benefits gamers, or anyone for that matter ?

I'm not a hardcore gamer. I only play black ops and 2k really . But at 500 bucks Xbone doesn't interest me. Not to say it isn't a great console it seems badass with great features. Hell I just wanna play 2k on next gen and ps4 is cheaper.

You can't clump all those together. We're just at the tip of the iceberg in regard to Kinect and Kinect-like functionality.

DRM...is what it is. iTunes, Steam, etc...it doesn't benefit users/gamers. In some cases, it sucks and hurts the experience, in other cases it's neutral.

Online connecting...has very little in terms of benefit (auto system updates and patches)...and will cause a world of pain if required (as has been discussed).

You are underestimating the fact that if more people vote with their wallets, the change stops. If PS3 outsells XB1 3 to 1 or 2 to 1, no way MS keeps those same policies. If they are stubborn and they do, Sony will be hesitant to adopt those policies when they were part of the reason they were able to get a lead in console sales.

FYI, iTunes has actually gone away from DRM. Itunes Match has practically eliminated DRM with Mp3's. With the exception of PC gaming and now XB1, media is going away from DRM. The movie industry tried it by doing Itunes/Amazon rentals and Digital Copy but most people are content with either buying/renting DVD/BR or streaming from Netflix.

I remember, 8 years ago now, when MS announced that the 360 would only allow broadband connections for LIVE.

There was alot of "OMG screw M$ I want to game on my 56k, its fine for Realz!" and "OMG you have to be soo Rich to play OMG"

Look how that turned out, and that was when broadband was truly in its infancy.

If you need to check in, Hotspot your phone and continue on. Its a pain, but something that will, in all honestly, probably be needed a few times a year.

I just do not think the internet infrastructure is where it needs to be for Xbone to reach as many people as the 360 has. I don't see it getting there in 5 years either.
