"We need to get rid of the notion that in order for Apple to succeed, Microsoft needs to fail."

This is the problem of the fanboy. The fanboy needs the opposition to lose so in a way that is almost embarrassing. They want the opposition to be exposed, blamed and ridiculed. I don't see that hhappening here but it's good to keep things balanced in our talks about how and why the next Xbox will or will not rule the world.
Why are you talking about fanboys? There is nothing about PS4 versus 720 as in PS4 IS WAY BATTER BRO at all. Its PS4 may win my money by default if these rumors or true.

This is not console war conversation going on in here. Ive been an xbox costumer for 10 years. I dont like the idea of games requiring internet connection. This xbox mini news is great because it quells my only problem with the new box rumors.

I said I don't see it happening here in those comments.

Agreed with this. I will just stick to PC at that point.

Vita having a front camera, mic, and non-removable battery like smart phones are a concern as well.

I have a strange feeling Sony may be doing this as well. And if so, something just doesn't feel right.

It has nothing to do with being apathetic. You have a ridiculous fear of being monitored with this console like its capabilities aren't already present in existing pieces of hardware. Like I said, if you really think that Microsoft or the government are going to use the Kinect to spy on you, then guess what, you're already being spied on everyday through your phone, digital camera, laptop, car (if you've bought one recently), internet activity, etc. Unless you choose to be a Luddite, which you clearly aren't since you are posting on the Internet and have a current game console, then there are a myriad of ways for companies/the government to spy on you already. Your constant posts on this conspiracy theory nonsense are hilarious though, so feel free to continue.

I am over 34 years old, spent several years with the DoHS as a security contractor with level 2 security clearance. I don't need to be lectured like I am some e-child on a new discovery of the coolness of the Internet.

I know plenty from personal experience to have my reservations.

If either console requires this, I will not purchase either one. The obvious would be quite obvious.

That's great but it doesn't change the fact that acting like the Kinect is a dealbreaker when you already own at least one system (the Vita) that can do, from a monitoring perspective, almost the exact same thing, makes absolutely no sense. If you're not interested in the system at all, then that's fine, but don't act like the Kinect's possible monitoring capabilities is the biggest reason that you probably won't buy it. We aren't dumb.

My vita does not need to be "always on the Internet" nor is it 3G.

And do not put "fanboy" comments in my mouth like people are doing to others as well.

I said if EITHER ONE has it, then I will buy neither.

We can have a proper discourse without pulling out the allegiance cards.

Good grief. I am seeing diehard Xbox fans being cannibalized in here now who do not want an always on feature.

                        It's really reaching now.

Neither does the next Xbox, according to the news coming out today.

And if that is the case then great, however it's all "just a rumor" like the previous reports.

Seems like the "bad vibes" may be swaying these "test bed" leaks.

                              Re: Xbox 720

I was on the fence about buying the next generation. I don't use my 360 very much anymore and I even hesitate to buy new games because I've already gone through 2 of them and I'm not buying another when it dies (sucks that I know it's going to die at some point and I'll never be able to play the games I bought for it). I'm not sure I trust Microsoft to build a console that will last.

But now with the whole requiring an Internet connection, I'm 100% out. It's not that I have a slow connection or worry about it cutting out on me; I just flat out disagree with the entire concept and I won't support it.

I bought Diablo III and that was a mistake, from that point on, I simply refuse to buy any product that implements this tactic (aside from products that obviously cannot function without it).

I may not have purchased it anyway - as I'm far more entertained by the NES, SNES and MAME... But this just puts the nail in the coffin for me. Looks like this will be the first generation in which I don't buy a console.

The "Always On" stuff doesn't bother me. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had issues with my internet in the past 5 years. I did take my 360 with me to a hotel awhile back, but I logged on wirelessly so no biggie. Hell, even if I couldn't get online I'm sure I could live without my XBOX for two days.

As far as them recording me... LOL honestly, if some random person wants to waste their time watching me play video games and spit sunflower seeds in my man-room, then go ahead. With a video game on one TV, sports on the other, plus an abundance of video games/systems, dvds/blu rays and a couple of dogs running around, there ain't no panties dropping in there anytime soon. I don't rent movies or buy PPV's on my game systems so that's a non-issue to me.

I've made the decision to only buy one new console this year. I came away from the PS4 conference somewhat unimpressed. I'm extremely interested in seeing what features the new XBOX has, but my decision will largely be based on exclusives. I'm a 360 guy and in my opinion the PS3 whipped the with exclusives this gen which gives the early edge to Sony. However, it's still way too early. Especially since we know nothing about the new XBOX.

The only thing I know for sure is I can't wait to see more from both companies.
