Crazy as it sounds, but I'd be much more likely to buy something at launch for 40 vs 60...probably not just me either.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
Its the number brought up in internal meetings and focus groups. As always, things can chance in a moments notice depending on what work arounds are found under the current system. Some things that may be clear as day to be able to see now, may go overlooked in the future and vice versa.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Man that is some b.s. right there. So now I can't take my copy of Madden over to my friend's house and play without forcing him to install and pay a fee to play the game? That's lame.
Add in the fact that this will cripple the used game market has me as a consumer very backed into a corner, and I don't like it.
Can someone also explain the EA-Microsoft deal? Does this mean no EA games on the PS4?Comment

From the pictures it looks like you might not have to open/close a disc trey, which would be nice.

Re: Xbox One
The idea is to destroy the secondary market due to the publishers / dev studios getting a grand total of 0% from their work. The actual money the publishers and devs get...depending on contracts of course...is quite a bit less than the $60 you buy it for in the stores.
By creating this outlet for used games...to be sold at $40-$45, thats 100% profit that the industry never saw before. Of course you have to account for ideas of 1 person buying a game and just passing it around to all his friends etc....renting from gamefly etc... but at the end of the day, selling an online code at $40-$45 each means its pure profit to those that never saw it before, and encourages more people to buy due to a reduction in price.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Oh its certainly valid, contracts are already being written up with it now...its just like with all new plans, sometimes you overlook very small issues.

I can see why devs/pubs want to actually see money for used games. As long as it brings down prices for new games a bit I'd be ok. If it doesn't then I'll be more likely to skip because it's not worth it.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
Blu-ray is slot load
Apparently the Xbox One dynamically scales its power consumption based off of what you are doing. There are power switches on the silicon switching cores on and off as needed. So even though it die is larger its power consumption and acoustics are still good.
Intrigued by the idea of the Kinect reading your HR for fitness purposes. Highly skeptical.Comment

I rarely bought used games but cant but feel sympathy with the ones that do, it definitively kills such market.
Edit: wait, now am confused, is the US$40+ range the price for new games as there wont be quite a market for used ones ? ... is it the price for cloud like games, I mean, for downloadable games (without disc) ? what are you all speculating about ?
P.S:
- Am in DR and english is not my native language, so please forgive my confussion.
- One other question comes to my mind in after the presentation, given the multiple non gaming features present on XBOX ONE, could this drive its price well over the more niche/specialized PS4 gaming console ?Last edited by ffaacc03; 05-21-2013, 03:36 PM.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I'd be on board with that. Plus it enables sales like you see on Steam as well. I never buy a game at 60 anymore, but 40 isn't terrible.
