    Re: Xbox One

Like the 360 games look better over the life span due to better understanding of the chip, the One will not only see that over time, but also as they add more and more transistors through addition of servers, the computing power will be increasing as well. 2-3 years in (my guess) the One will be as good as always online because the latest and greatest games will be taking advantage of off site computing, not just for streamlining the experience, but for higher fidelity in AI, Graphics, etc.

When I thought of always online, I thought multiplayer, streaming, updates. Did not see how deep MS was going with this. Makes you wonder how long the lifespan of this generation will really be? Will there be a true next gen after this, or staggered releases like the slim?

this would be after, but consider this...if this $40 fee is the case, the used game prices at Gamestop/etc will plummet.

Well this made my choice pretty simple, getting a PS4.

Yeah... I'll probably just get these games on PC and not deal with that at all.

Who knows, but I don't see PS4 as more niche/specialized, outside of the larger variety in games (judging from PS2/3 dev support).

I think that's Sony's marketing angle to position against MS's unabashed assault on the living room.

No it doesn't have HDMI pass-through for the DVR stuff, but remember Sony has a camera they've barely touched on, and all the streaming stuff, plus the touchpad on the controller. The systems aren't that different. Even the Xbox One remote computing stuff that sounds crazy impressive, we don't know that PS4 doesn't have an equivalent. Lots more to learn from E3 imo.

That's what I do now, but if new game prices come down a bit (plus have more sales like Steam) I'd be willing to buy console more.

man at first I really didn't care about all the extra things the xbox one is going to be beside a gaming machine but after seeing how fast it switches from TV to games and interacts with fantasy sports so fast and easy look pretty unbelievable if it switches that fast.

seriously... It goes from game to TV faster than my cable box switches channels... it can't really be that fast can it? the whole guide feature and interactive TV was something I thought I would not care about but I actually do now considering it looks like it blows away any TV, computer, Cable, Or satellite tv interface I ever seen before. I found myself saying there is no way it can be that fast when they were showing off the demo today.. I wont believe it is that fast until i see for real in person but if it is I might just switch back to xbox because of that.

I guess EA is developing their games specifically for Microsoft platform first again and porting to Sony's? sure seems that way..

So I can't play the new xbox if the kinect isnt attached to it and I have to pay for pre owned games... Ps4 here I come.

I'm thinking the same thing but then again, my HDMI switch works at that speed, and Windows 8 works at that speed as far as snapping and running things that smoothly. And the One has custom versions of both of those. When its in our hands, thats the real test. esp Kinect.

That just seems like it would open up a whole can of worms regarding privacy issues....I don't understand that decision.

                        That sums up my feelings.

I assume a one time internet connection is going to be required so there's a bunch of lost customers.

No rentals so all those 3-6 hour games are going to get called out even more.

As previously mentioned they'll lose sales from the rental stores that often buy 2-5 copies of games.

What happens when the system breaks? I'm on my 7th 360...they'd expect me to pay $20 per game, per system. Hey did you guys see Argo?!

What happens if there's an issue with your account? I've had all my saves deleted twice on the 360 too.

500 gig hard drive isn't even close to enough.

This thing deserves to be a complete and utter failure.

Just imagine if you break your kinect on accident or on purpose because it doesnt work right then you can't play your console unless you buy another...

Sony will be doing the same thing with pre-owned games. This isnt going to be a MSFT vs Sony issue, this is something that the entire industry has pretty much 100% agreed on.

                              XBOX ONE

It only needs one Kinect, one activation fee, one internet connection, one separate cable device, and one Xbox Live Gold membership.

                              Name fits

Looks like they may not be killing the used game market:

Jon Hicks, the editor of Official Xbox magazine, has claimed that pre-owned games will be un-installed from an owner's system and installed onto another. It is not clear if this process would negate a pre-owned fee.

Depends on whether or not the fee is waived or not. I'm thinking it may be if that's the case.
