Yeah the Kinect right now is USB, hopefully it will be the same. But still, that's a lot of work to connect something I wouldn't really want to use anyway.

Also, some fugly hardware - though PS4 has yet to be seen so I can't comment if next gen will feature ugly boxes all around.
So far the best looking console was the PS4 hoax video.

They tried that, and it got them labeled as a "kids' toy" that a lot of people with maturity issues didn't want to buy.

          Great console, though.

People didn't like the look of the GameCube because it looked like a toy lunchbox, not because of the color.

People love the special edition colors of the N64, Xbox 360, PS2/PS3, etc. Those were pretty eccentric, but not awful looking. I think that's what jmood is referring to, not the Gamecube.

Meh - GameCube had a lot of great games. I don't really show off my electronic devices so what they look like, ultimately, makes little difference to me. It is fun to make jokes, but I'm surprised people take it further than that.

When I thought of always online, I thought multiplayer, streaming, updates. Did not see how deep MS was going with this. Makes you wonder how long the lifespan of this generation will really be? Will there be a true next gen after this, or staggered releases like the slim?
Hate to quote myself but I found this to be the most intriguing news from MS.

                        IGN

As bandwidth improves, there is potential for actual game computations to be off-loaded to servers in the cloud, essentially allowing the Xbox One to become more powerful over time as more and more transistors are connected to Microsoft's cloud infrastructure.

"We have an ever-evolving, powerful world [in the cloud] that we can tap into."

"This is not going to be as static a console as we've seen in the past," Multerer enthused.

People were discussing how each company's stock was doing after their respective announcements. This **** is serious!

Because the stock market is everything now.

PS3 used the cell processor which many developers never effectively utilized. There is no arguing that Sony's first party who knew how to fully utilize it made some great looking games. On the ps4 they went to the developers themselves and asked them what they wanted in the system. This gen most multiplatform games were developed on the 360 then ported to the ps3. Doubt that will be the case this gen since Sony learned from their mistake and went with a more pc infrastructure for the system.
