Maybe that's his only option? There are places where internet connections are pretty shoddy and it has nothing to do with the ISP - its just the way things are in some places.

My internet quality, or lack thereof, should have zero influence, as in none whatsoever, on my ability to play a videogame on my own. There is no argument you can make to sway me. Much like there is nothing I can say to you for you to understand that my options for internet do not equal yours.

Many know around here I have a extremely fast connection (40 megs down 20+ up Fiber). So my internet is not a issue but I got friends and family just 20 mins from my house that are lucky if they can even connect so yea I agree it changes drastically where you are.

Yeah...while for me it's probably not going to matter, some people just don't have internet. I'm interested to hear what MS will say to those types of people.

They need to reveal a "Killer app". I never hear that term anymore but that is what it takes for me to buy a system. Show me something that I want to play but can't unless I have the Xbox 1.

All the T.V. features and kinect bs is okay but show me a game that is worth waiting in line for and MS will have my $ at launch.

Anyone know if the dvr will be able to record xbl chat on top of the gameplay? I've had some hilarious moments in the party chat, that would just look weird without the commentary

Neither MS or Sony have announced anything like this yet...they're waiting because it's so early in the process to drop info like this.

We don't even know what the PS4 looks like, it could be a giant orange circle lol.

What a ridiculous statement. Do you have any real world concept or completely oblivious to the fact that most areas in the United States are not saturated with multiple companies that can provide broadband experiences. So do you really think there's much consumers can do when there's one choice in a smaller area that isn't the most technical savvy to begin with? Most people are oblivious to the fact they're getting a quarter of what is advertised because it's not that apparent on the rigorous bandwidth requirements needed by facebook, zuma, or farmville.

Totally clueless to the world, it's frightening that the thought process is that the United States has a remarkable broadband internet structure and service providers where access to blazing fast speeds and 100% service is a guaranteed so that Xbox connection shouldn't be a big deal.

It's not a big deal to me, I don't take to much of an issue with it personally if I were into the Xbox, but it's childish , the notion that just because MY internet is fine or that I don't care means everyone else has the same internet and shouldn't worry about connecting to play a single player game.

I get the gripe outside of not being able to connect and the principle because consider the simpleness of the alternative choice.. To Play single player games, no online connectivity is required : PROBLEM SOLVED. People with great connections wouldn't complain that other's didn't have to connect to play a single player game, people with no connection or horrible connection wouldn't complain that they don't have to be connected to play a single player game. Pretty simple, but what's been done is the segmented population that is gamers and the subset of XBOX 360 is now SEGMENTED yet again to a great deal by this decision that is quite frankly a stupid decision - and people have every right to be a little perturbed and turned off by the notion they have to connect at least once to an internet connection somewhere to play a single player game.

So while being simple and saying it doesn't affect me so why people care. The irony could be that it can very well affect you, if not directly (should there be issues with games needing a connection ala sim city that is no fault of your own) then maybe indirectly (the reduction of LIVE subscribers and online community due to simple issues taken with the connection requirement from the get go or lack of enthusiasm for the TV aspects)

I think for some people its more than just a principle its a legitimate concern for people in those areas who enjoy playing video games, but do so without the need/want/access for constant and consistent online play.

I just wonder how many of the people for whom the internet requirement is a problem for are actually buying consoles. There's no doubt that there's a huge problem with internet access in this country but how many of those people play games?

That says 20-30% aren't connected to the internet. I know it's some random study or whatnot, but that's still a decent amount.

I'm with you guys on the "principle" aspect this has turned into, but I am interested in how MS handles people who just can't or won't have internet.....

Why lop off that segment of the market, though? You want to increase your market not take away from it. I don't have the numbers, but I would say there's quite a few people who game without internet connections. Haven't we been doing that for 30 years?

Obviously MS didn't explain everything yesterday, but they could have done a lot better job of setting themselves up by demonstrating exactly how beneficial these changes will be for the consumer. Cloud computing/gaming has me excited personally, but if its not utilized then I see everything else on the system as a waste for me personally. Even then that's probably not in the first year of launch anyway.

I'm gonna go ahead and throw this out there:
I want no part of the console that has a device that's constantly recording me and can do the biometrics facial recognition and everything else that this technology can do.
This thing reeks of big brother in my opinion
I don't want to sound conspiratorial However it's only a matter of time before this data that's either stored on your hard drive or on Microsoft servers
Is collected by whatnever agency that has no business using it.
Obviously if your criminal and it's fine if they're going to use that but that's not always how it is. Look no further than Google and all the information they passed illegally to different agencies
Without any consent from anybody that information was taken from.
I just have a hard time believing that this is necessary for me to be able to
Play Madden. Check that, there is NO reason this I need to submit to this
To do ANY kind of gaming. Eventually I can see this being used to track people
                                Who like violent games etc.
I know I sound like a nut, but look no further than the Drone war...it started in warzones and now drones are flying over the US (which mind you I said would happen years before) and there was a fillibuster to try to get answers as to the legality of an American being drone striked on US soil.
So what do you folks think?
                                Paranoia or a valid concern?
