Re: Xbox One
On ign they had a quote that said right now you have to have a cable box and a xbox1 to use these features. I wonder if there will be a time when the Xbox1 is an available upgrade from your cable company to replace your cable box?
At the xbox1 launch event he sure gave Comcast a nice plug. It could be nothing but it seemed suspicious.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I've pretty much decided it's XBOX One purchase on day 1.
Probably the PS4 by the time The Show comes out for it..
UNLESS we get some surprise that MVP baseball will be returning.
The always on doesn't affect me at all as I've rarely lost internet connection.
SUBJECT TO CHANGE: If E3 has some dramatic news etc.. for either system.Joshua:

Re: Xbox One
I really wanted them to wow me, I've been disenchanted with Microsoft and their spread towards an 'All in one' and really nothing in that trailer 'wowed' me. The features are cool don't get me wrong but when it comes to selecting a gaming system, I'm going with whichever offers be the most bang for my buck, needing to log in and be certified on a day by day basis seems like a hassle, the potential of no used games / rentals is another huge turnoff. Demos are becoming less and less prevalent and rentals have become 'demos' of sorts for me.
The used games doesn't affect me as much but saving money here and there is helpful.
Obviously with E3 being a gaming heavy show my feelings might turn, but Microsoft really needs to pull me back in to it's gaming console. I'm not lazy, I can change inputs if I want to watch TV, I wouldn't use my TV for internet browsing (I don't use the PS3 browser or IE on my xbox) and a lot of what they talked about just didn't interest me.
And as much as I like the ESPN integration, I'm not going to drop $500/$600 for fantasy updates while I'm playing games, my laptop serves that purpose well enough.
I'll keep paying attention to both consoles but come October/November (assuming they release than), it's looking more likely I'll be coming home with a PS4 and dropping Microsoft for the first time.
TL/DR:
I understand that an all in one is beneficial to some, but realistically their announcements on the gaming side of things have been sporadic and largely negative. I'll reserve judgement until it's time to make the call with my wallet but at the moment Xbox has me alienated.Last edited by K0ZZ; 05-23-2013, 03:18 AM.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Re: Xbox One
The dislike for the XBox One (or XBone as it's been labeled on twitter thus far) is becoming legendary. DRM, forced Kinect, not being able to played used games freely, and not porting XBox Live arcade titles & on demand titles really has folks riled up. People in other countries have even more to complain about it seems as most of the XBox Live upgrades are only available to folks in the US, and yet the folks in other countries have had to pay the higher price just the same.
Right now, if Sony doesn't do the same with use games, it'll be PS4 for me all the way. May end up skipping the XBox One completely as the exclusives tend to be FPS games which don't interest me. This generation I have all my games on 360 and only 30 or so on PS3. Tilting very strong towards PS4 with the final decision to be based on used game market.Last edited by Valdarez; 05-23-2013, 03:39 AM.Comment

Re: Xbox One
The forced kinect doesn't bother me. The DRM and always on or internet check up does.. I also live with spotty internet and I don't want to be screwed out of playing my system because my internet is being too jumpy for Microsoft.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Re: Xbox One
Maybe there's something to that Kotaku rumor about Microsoft being behind in game production.
Dev environment currently not as mature as PS4, says Just Cause dev:
EDGE
The Just Cause creator is working with each next gen console right now, and says that in terms of pure specifications and working environment, PS4 is the preferable console. We asked Avalanche’s chief technical officer Linus Blomberg how the two consoles compare. “It’s difficult to say, as it’s still early days when it comes to drivers,” he told us. “With each new driver release, performance increases dramatically in some areas. The PlayStation 4 environment is definitely more mature currently, so Microsoft has some catching up to do. But I’m not too concerned about that as they traditionally have been very good in that area. The specs on paper would favour the PS4 over the Xbox One in terms of raw power, but there are many other factors involved so we’ll just have to wait and see a bit longer before making that judgment.”“We were one of the fortunate developers to get our hands on the Xbox One early, but the public reveal only confirms that Microsoft is staying on course with their plans – to make the Xbox One the entertainment center of the living room,” he told us. “The big positive was obviously that it’s a fantastic piece of hardware offering a huge range of possibilities for developers to connect with players in ways that have been close to impossible to date.”
“Next generation to me has always meant more than nice graphics,” he added. “I don’t really see any big negatives at this point. For me, the success of the new consoles will be determined by how much freedom developers will have to make our gaming experiences customized for our fans.”
I'm sure Microsoft will catch up as he says, but the fact that their tools are even behind is troubling, when that is their bread and butter.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Xbox One
I am a long time directv customer, can I run it through Xbone? Think all the features cool, and will be used by all in house, but if Directv not compatible, no go for me. With NFL partnership im hoping this is case, especially with sunday ticket.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I need to decide when to dump one of our 360's. to put towards next gen..
We have 2 and I'll be keeping 1 to play the 360 games.
May see what deals they have for trade in's down the line and jump when a good one pops up.Joshua:

Re: Xbox One
Hah. I think I had like 7-8 friends years and years back when UFC Undisputed 2009 came out and we did that LW/LHW League that only lasted a month or so for whatever reason. That was the only game I really played online - otherwise I'm an offline kind of guy. I think I've got 0 friends on my account right now.Comment
