Re: Xbox One
Yeah, but how much are Steam games compared to what MS is gonna shoot for? Steam gets praised up and down every where I hear the name. I don't think MS wants to make that comparison.
Also, its my understanding that you can play offline games with the Steam service. Right?
I don't think people are having problems with the move to DRM and digital media. Its the draconian policies MS is wrapping its "services" around that is what people find troubling.
Valve has also said in the past that if they go out of business all your Steam games would "unlock" and still be playable even if the Steam service isn't available any longer. Not exactly sure how that works, but I know I've heard it from them before.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

I think someone, Patcher I think suggested they do something like not allow used games until after 2 months which is when its not supposed to affect the industry as much..something to that degree....
Not that that would make it right but it would sure be better than whats being proposed.
This would be ideal for the consumer. Maybe this model could be used for Used Games.
Does gamefly use that model also, or can you get a game on release?

Re: Xbox One
I've never used Gamefly so I have no idea, but anything less than what it is now is not ideal. I think that suggestion is just a compromise for both sides in light of whats happening now.
What was worse was that talk about buying a used game then having to pay a fee to play it. That's just ridiculously silly.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I think MS will do something like 8$ for a wk rental possibly, similar to blockbuster back in the dayComment

Re: Xbox One
Now that MS (possibly Sony) has forced to buy new or dont play, why would they offer rental services?Comment

Re: Xbox One
I WAS getting the Xbox One and PS4 but not after seeing that Microsoft requires an internet connection to be able to play YOUR games offline.
So if my internet goes down especially after a major storm, then basically I am unable to play my games also.
Hey Microsoft, get your head out of your rear as this is going to be one of the dumbest moves in the history of gaming!!! If I bought your system then I own it. If I bought the games, then I own it. Rule #1: don't try to control what I can and can't do when I have already purchased it LEGALLY!!!!
Just lost a long customer and if Sony follows up with any dumb moves like this, then I will pass on them both. Right now it is Sony's to lose.
Microsoft is going to try restricting us by attempting to control what we do. Here is the funny part:
They want us to give them money so they can do it!!!Comment

Ha, nice. I totally thought you were just making an off-hand quip about a hypothetical "ol' great video game crash of '83". I had no idea that was real. Thanks for the knowledge.Comment
