I can't see any gamer who would tell Ms that they want a system that has some of the restrictions and requirements as x1. I can certainly see some publishers and internet providers pushing for them though. Weird indeed.
Like I've been saying... it all depends on the questions they ask. Companies have been known to look at data as just numbers instead of things that effect people.

Their focus groups may as well have gone like this:
    1) "Would you like to see the Kinect expanded upon and more of an effort made to make it a viable, high-quality part of our product?" "Yes."
    2) "Would you like the console to be more PC-like, in regards to purchasing and downloading games (you can compare our system to something like the one Steam has in place)?" "Yes, of course."
    3) "Would you like to see more focus on the entertainment aspects? We will keep what we already have in place with the 360, while giving more features and allowing your box to interface with your cable provider giving you unparalleled control over what you watch." "Of course that would be nice to have."

Cha-ching. They got the data they wanted in somewhat of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Never thought of it in those terms but it makes total sense when you say it. Gathering data that they know will greenlight them to make what they want happen.. and then blame the consumer saying "but you said this..."

Sort of genius in a way lol

The X1 is a Internet Connected Device. If this is an issue for people then the 360 is a better option. Or get yourself a PS4.

MS has said already they plan to support the 360 for @ least another 5 years. It's not like how they did the OG XOX when the 360 launched.

Is MS being arrogant, or are they being honest about their vision for the X1.

The way you put it uber it sounds damn near believable lol. I just need you to phrase a few more questions in how they came to a conclusion about gamers wanting constant net connectivity(i dont have problem but I am empathetic of others)no used games, no ability to play your old 360 games on hardware, ability to loan or borrow games. This system seems more the brainchild of publishers, net providers, and Ms themselves more so than something that was developed with the gamer in mind. Again the way you put it sounds more reasonable than I thought previously.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

MS can keep their "internet connected device." I'll take a game console.

Like I've said. For gamers this gen is a no brainer. MS is trying to grow their market share and take their device in another direction.

MS couldn't care less if the "gamers" buy their console. If they make up for the gaming crowd not buying one with all the TV features and other crap they added, they don't care. Money is money.

Let's see... Bunch of people buying and paying for Live (without playing many games) means MS doesn't have to shell out 25-50+ million dollars for exclusives anymore. They are still getting almost all the money they did before, just without the hit to their bottom line.

I think it's a little bit of both. I think MS believes their market share in North America is so strong they can do whatever they want.

BTW, is there any information about what kind of activity will be taking place while the One is dormant?
Where I live, I can only choose from two different internet service plans and with my budget, I chose the cheaper one, which means 25GB/month.
Considering we'll stream some movies and TV, how much overhead will the X1 take up?
Will it threaten my capacity to the point I'm being charged $2/gb over my limit?

Also, when he says "If you can't have a constant connection, buy a 360", what about people that want to enjoy the new sports games with the Ignite engine?
I'm a hockey fan and I've grown tired of the NHL series. What if the next-gen NHL titles have really improved? Now I can't enjoy those?

I have a feeling this policy is really going to hurt MS and I wouldn't be surprised if in the 6 months after release, MS makes a change and releases a patch so always online isn't needed.

Between this and no rentals allowed, I think MS might get their butts handed to them this generation.
I've been wrong before, but if OS is any kind of example, I would guess a lot of MS gamers will be making the switch this time around.

But like you said, at least there's options for everyone. If someone is angry with MS's policy, then choose PS4.
So far, I have yet to see any exclusives that I have to have on either console, so switching from MS to Sony this generation won't hurt me.

Their policy may seem that way, but what I saw in their E3 presentation says another.

For me that's what it's about. Yes it sucks for those who can't jump due to restrictions, but that's MS decision.

They have given people an option to continue to play or purchase a 360. There's a boatload of great games still coming for the 360 this holiday season and in the next coming year.

My guess is like Money stated in his last post MS will be watching & if needed make changes

EA: "We don't have a problem with second-hand sales as they are today"

Will EA let you trade-in your PS4 and Xbox One games? "Probably," says a senior exec.

Seems like MS really went this route all on their own if thats true. Glad to see EA trying to get off that worst company list though!

                      Did I read this correctly:

Actually it's states "Family Members" and up to 10 Family Members.

What's intriguing is the possibility of adding & removing people from this list. If MS allows this the would be ideal.

Also when sharing, if someone is playing that game, you can't play said game also
