The "we are watching you" prompt that the bill would mandate sounds hilarious and so creepy at the same time.

"WE ARE WATCHING YOU" *Moons Kinect*

Seriously though, there would be somebody somewhere doing some TOS unfriendly activity and freak out when it popped up.

To me that sounds like they know that market is important to consumers & they're looking to set up partnerships with companies like gamefly where everyone is happy..(Retailer/Publisher/Developer/Consumer)
Stating that "we are working on it" isnt presenting a clear policy. My point is right now I know with Sony that I can rent, trade in and buy used games whether they are third party or not. With MS, its unclear if or when I'll be able to do those things.

You are. MS made it easier for them. They can rely on MS' system to enforce DRM and potentially limit things like used games and rented games.

Most third party developers (Except for EA and Ubisoft) cant afford to create and mange their own DRM system so that means the majority of developers wouldve never considered doing it if it wasnt for MS creating a system that allows them to.

                  At least slightly.

The system they are trying to implement has no benefit to the consumer. At all. Its them getting into bed with publishers who try to push that used games and piracy are the biggest threat to the industry which is false.

Indie devs, kickstarter and other methods have already proven that's not the case. Excuse me if I don't cry for the publishers making hundreds of millions of dollars in actual income.

They are the ones who allowed budgets to skyrocket for AAA titles. Video gaming is a niche hobby. They can't expect to be spending more and more to make games and make the amount of money they used to.

Mars, it isn't. Its the big publishers way of pawning off their own issues they don't want to face on their consumers.

This is where you guys lose me. A few of you seem to say this every so often and pretend as if there are not features built around this system. Some of you make great rational points from time to time but undermine them with stuff like this.

Obviously no point discussing it further, as the number of times you've said it means you aren't going to change your mind.

What is the benefit? Everything they are adding can be done without the 24h required checks.

It doesn't compare to steam. You don't have to be online to play on steam after you activate the game.

It's unnecessary. I do agree that some of the things they are doing are steps in the right direction for console gaming but the whole thing reeks of one step forward, three steps backwards and five steps back.

Fair points made. Should be an interesting Next-Gen. Hopefully it will a Next-Gen that consumers will enjoy, because even with what's been thrown around I'm excited to see what the new systems have to offer

Bottom line is there are people who simply cannot accept change. The funny thing is most of these people will end up buying an X1. Change is good and i'm excited for a new way of doing things. I got so sick and tired with Gamestop for giving me pennies for my games that i stopped trading in awhile ago. The idea that we can share our libraries with others is way cool.

IF i didn't have internet then i would be bummed and i can sympathize with those people. The rest just need to get a grip or buy a PS4.

Nah. I'll buy a ps4 and continue to complain about the issues with the X1.

The funny thing is you're convinced that people will buy a machine based on things they disagree with.

Everyone save for one person I know personally isn't touching an XBone. This isn't about not embracing change, it's about having issues with the way change is implemented.

If you're excited for the XBone good for you. I hope you enjoy your purchase, because I hate to see people displeased with major gaming purchases.

Don't try to speak for other people on what they will or will not purchase though, you just sound petty, foolish and like you're trying to justify your purchase to something or someone.
