Re: Xbox One
I don't know whether to Smile or Cry with the news Elop is probably returning to MS top head up the XBOX Division.
In other exciting news....
Xbox One NFL, ESPN TV Apps Detailed
Much was made of the Xbox One's TV and sports capabilities at the console's May 21 reveal event, and IGN got to see some of it in action in advance of the opening kickoff of the 2013-2014 NFL season via the revamped ESPN app and all-new NFL app.
First, though is news that an NFL.com fantasy app will be made available shortly for the Xbox 360, in order to "make sure we have something for Xbox 360 until Xbox One comes out in November," said Xbox Sports Entertainment's David Jurenka.
When the system does launch, the ESPN app will return bigger and better, featuring ESPN.com clips from the web, ESPN3 live broadcasts, and the ability to watch live content from ESPN Prime via WatchESPN (the latter feature requires a cable or satellite TV subscription). You'll be able to watch Major League Baseball, US Open tennis, college football, and more. You'll also be able to personalize your channel to bubble your favorite teams in each sport to the top. If you've ever used used the ScoreCenter app on your favorite mobile device, it's largely similar, albeit with the Xbox One's native Snap functionality integrated.
Meanwhile, the NFL app will also be available on Day One and feature live streaming of the NFL Network, including the Red Zone channel. Both of these will require authentication and a corresponding cable or satellite TV subscription. The app will support real-time game stats and a fantasy highlight app that ties into the live broadcast. Of key note is that only NFL.com fantasy leagues will be supported initially. "If you are on NFL.com it's going to work seamlessly," Jurenka told IGN, adding that ESPN, Yahoo, and other fantasy leagues will integrate into the Xbox One's NFL app "in 2014 and beyond." We got to see a live broadcast of an Arizona Cardinals-San Diego Chargers preseason game (unsurprisingly to this Arizona sports fan, the Cardinals muffed a field goal and were losing), and then Jurenka showed off the aforementioned Snap functionality by launching a random Halo 4 video with the fantasy highlights and stats snapped in on the right-hand sidebar.
I asked if Madden video game integration might come in somewhere along the way, perhaps by pulling up your friends' online Madden NFL 25 highlights, and Jurenka simply replied that they have "nothing to announce" regarding a Madden tie-in.
Xbox Live Gold memberships will be required for both the NFL and ESPN apps.

Re: Xbox One
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop will join Microsoft and lead an "expanded devices team." Julie Larson-Green -- Microsoft's current overseer for Devices and Studio Engineering, which encompasses all hardware, including Xbox -- will continue to lead the division until the acquisition is completed, after which she will join Elop's new team. Elop will lead the new division, including Xbox, at that time.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Julie Larson-Green will be reporting to Elop when the acquisition closes, Ballmer said. She's still tasked with running the devices development team that's currently working on Xbox One and the next incarnation of Surface.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

It's the same exact position that Don Mattrick just left and he had his hands on everything in Xbox.Comment

There is no 'xbox division' that he's leading, he'll be over a larger entity.
You're trying too hard. Give it time to develop and the doom and gloom story you were trying to manufacture will manifest though I'm sure.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I'm not sure what your point is in all of this is. You act as if the entire reason MS acquired Nokia was to make Elop over Xbox. Elop is going to serve in an expanding role that will most likely bring in their focus on mobile devices. Matrick was given Xbox. It's not like he was meddling in it. Plus, he did a damn good job with it. The Xbox brand this generation has grown greatly and gained substantial momentum.
The only valid speculation right now is the Elop will be MS's new CEO. He was not filtered in to get his hands on what Xbox is doing.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Xbox One
That position is gone. They're reorganizing, if you read the link above Larson-Green will be on Elop's team, as part of an expanded devices division.

If you care about things like content delivery, game quality/developer tools, and new features and peripherals, it happens below these guys at the top. They sign off, it's their job on the line if the product fails, but the leaders within individual teams get the work done.
Same at Sony, Nintendo, et al.Arsenal FC

Re: Xbox One
A Changing Perspective: RYSE Son of Rome
"Ryse: Son of Rome" has come a long way since being revealed in a very early form at E3 2010.
Back then, the game was still known as "Codename: Kingdoms," and only hinted at the bigger picture of what we would soon set about bringing to life. At E3 one year later, the name "Ryse" was out in the open and a more in-depth trailer revealed it to be an Xbox 360 exclusive built primarily around Kinect-controlled combat.
Since then, things have obviously shifted again; with today’s "Ryse" having built from those early iterations and evolved into an Xbox One launch title. So, how exactly did the game come to shift from first-person to third-person, from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, and from being primarily played with Kinect to being played primarily with controller?

Re: Xbox One
Outside of Rock Band not sure I ever needed/wanted more than 4 controllers connected, but the One can support 8. Sony confirmed over Twitter the PS4 is "limited' to 4. Just some fanboy ammo really.
