This actually got me thinking of how often I use my kinect. Not even once

I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Re: Xbox One
I use my Kinect for almost all navigation. Once you get the correct phrases down, and you use them accordingly, the voice recognition is near perfect. Now, the gestures I haven't messed with at all.
But what I see happening with this system is MS making a move to give consumers this all in one experience and consumers dictating otherwise. MS did not and may not make this system all they want it to be. The drop in price and cutting off the Kinect is a sign of this.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

It'll be interesting to see how sales go over the next year....I think MS offers more on the software side (dashboard) vs Sony, so that'll be interesting.
I also saw some article on my phone about leaked E3 presentations and MS had some pretty good games listed, more than Sony. Obviously that may not be true, but MS is really trying to bring it this E3 I think. The games battle has yet to be won IMO.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
Like a few people were saying and I agree, it needed to go even lower to close the gap. Maybe 349.99 or so. Same price as PS4 and still inferior specs.
Hopefully it helps their sales. Two viable next gen consoles is always better for consumers than only one.

I dont think the average consumer even cares about specs. They care about price and games. I'm a gamer and the only reason I know that the One has trouble with 60fps and 1080p is because I've seen people post about it here.
With them both being the same price, it will come down to exclusives and current install base. I have both consoles and I'm finding that install base is a factor in deciding what console to get 3rd party games. For example, I'm getting UFC for the PS4 solely because more of my friends only have that system and are buying the game for that system.Comment

Re: Xbox One
That's true, but I don't think that will be a major hurdle. Removing Kinect and the app paywall, and improving GwG, have now nullified most of the negative talking points of the XB1. If they couple that with great game annoucements at E3, than the power difference won't be that big of a deal.XBL: Mean Greene

These are different times now and all this information is easily available. As you yourself stated, you learned about the One having problems with 60fps and 1080 here.

I think with digital & social media the average consumer does care about specs, or if they didn't they soon do. Their peers inform them about it, the less informed become informed.

The average console owner doesnt come to sites like OS. They dont follow gamer sites on twitter to get information on specs. They see commercials. They see in store demos. They ask friends. They make a decision.
If you go back through this thread, most people chose the ps4 over Xbox 1 for the following reasons:
1) The Ps4 was cheaper.
2) They were confused or upset about MS' attempts at DRM and restricting used games.
3) They had no use for the TV functions or Kinect and didnt want to pay more for those functions.
I have both consoles and have played almost every retail game on both consoles and the best looking games I've seen on either console are Ryse and Forza. My point is even knowing about specs doesnt matter if its not CLEARLY apparent when you play the games. Gamers like me and you may be able to tell the difference but most dont.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I think thats just a gamer thing though. Like I'm the biggest gamer out of all the people I know but a bunch of my friends purchased next gen consoles. When they asked me which one to buy I mentioned 3 things: Price, Games, Features. Specs never came up because its over their head. ****, most people cant tell or dont care about the difference between 1080p and 720p.

Re: Xbox One
At 399 the XB1 with no kinect now offers more value for the 399 over PS4 and it is hard t argue against that unless you are just being a homer.
I have both and enjoy both and agree that XB1 need to lower the price to 399 and removing the kinect achieved that but now if your factor is PS4 has more pixels so that means is better is not looking at things correct.
All this back and forth about resolution started with COD ghost but last year nobody talked about resolution even when most 360 third party games looked better on 360. It was about having more people playing on that console
All of a sudden now resolution is the key factor in some saying that is the better choice.
PS3 was more powerful then 360 and that gap was bigger in terms of specs then xb1 and ps4
BUt now we want to talk about resolution.
With XB1 you now get snap features at 399 and still get tv features without the kinect.
It does more then ps4 and has no pay wall
The ps4 will have better resolution in 3rd party titles? Yea sure ok well that is not or should not be the determining factor in value for the 399
What the console allows you to do for that amount of money should be and no denying even if you dont want to care for snap or tv features it still offers more then ps4Comment

As far as the price drop goes,I am definitely listening, but still not convinced yet.
As been mentioned, specs mean alot to me and for MYSELF it doesn't make sense at the same price point.
None of the snap stuff and TV stuff I absolutely have no interest in...but that doesn't mean for others it isn't a big deal...all I know is right now,Sony is offering more of what I want....that's certainly not to say I wouldn't ever get the one...because at some point I'm sure I will.People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment
