That is nice! Pretty cool, all if the customization options. I'm also in need of a new controller.

If this came with the battery pack I'd absolutely be ordering one. But for $80, come on M$ give us a battery pack...2 AA batteries just doesn't cut it (IMO) at that price point.

80 to completely customize the coloring seems about right to me. Isn't a regular controller 60? I like batteries and I also have a charge kit though.

Most would have to replace any battery pack with one from their chosen solution anyways, energizer cradle in my case.

Yea I hear ya. I guess it just has always annoyed me that Microsoft has always sold battery packs separately for controllers. Just another way to sell an extra accessory.

I would rather still have the option to use batteries and them go this route honestly.

Agreed with the option, it opens us up to the option of using rechargeable double A batteries instead of constantly being plugged in, risking the controller dying, or having to buy a proprietary pack. People crap on AA's but I'd rather have 2 of them last 10 hours and then swap them out than have the controller's internal battery die after 3 and a half hours and have to wait until it's charged or play with a wire.

To each his own, I just don't see how having to replace batteries is a good thing? Not only is it a pain, it's costly. I see no reason why they wouldn't put a permenant battery (a la, Sony...) or just include a rechargeable pack in every $60 controller.

Its nothing new, Microsoft has and will always figure ways to be able to charge for as many things as possible, see the chat adapter. And believe me, I'm not trying to start an argument.

IMO controllers aren't all that cheap and need to be replaced from time to time. Who am I to say how someone should run their business, I just find it to be a BS way to get more money from our pockets into theirs.

It's not that costly. I get rechargeable batteries and a play and charge kit. Literally never have to worry about playing with a wire running to my controller. I like being able to have both options. I can't see how that's a negative.

I have the play and charge kit. And, sure, another $15 isn't that costly. But that's not really my point, my point is for the cost of the controller, that should just be included. Why does Microsoft feel the need to charge us even more for a battery pack and/or have to worry about having AA batteries all the time?

Of course having multiple option's is not a bad thing. But buying batteries is still an added cost. And having to worry about always having more on hand and nearby is hardly a convenience.

It's not much added cost though with rechargeable batteries and if you go that route you always have them on hand don't you? That's my point.

You can a 4 pack of AA rechargeable batteries on Amazon for $10. Then you have 2 in the controller and the other 2 next to the rest of your accessories. Then when the 2 die take em plug em into the wall and get the other 2 less than 10 feet away from you. Rinse and repeat.

Or you can plug the controller in/use a charging stand every time you're done playing and never have to worry about changing anything...

But again , you're missing the point. This conversation is going in circles so I'm done.

Yeah I can't complain about 10 bucks. Also know I forget to plug my controller in at night so batteries are just a fail safe for me. Can toss my charge kit in the controller im not using and throw batteries into my controller so I can play wireless while the pack charges. Hasn't failed me yet.
