If you plan on playing this game a long time then yes they are both worth it IMO.

The Horizon Edition GT-R can only be bought in the Auction House, you can search for it there. You can win it from a wheelspin if you're lucky enough.

Is there a reason to get both the pass and membership?

I see with VIP you get double wheel spin earnings. That sounds nice.

Nice. Thanks. Car looks great. I'm a ways away though.

          Re: Xbox One

I bought a HE Jag F-type something or other from the auction today that had XP boost. Then I converted it to AWD, and spent a bunch more on parts. The thing is a monster right now. I've topped it out at like 376km/h... at least that I've noticed. Insane grip too. Then I turned around and sold the HE ... I want to say it was that Ford modern hyper car... because it only earned credits. I sold it at auction for around 1.5 million. I only paid 900k in credits for my Jag. Never thought I'd get that for it. It was pure stock too.

Then, I took my new HE, XP boost Jag and ran the Goliath. Man, that was alot of fun. About 11 minutes or so for the lap. Not bad at all. Racked up about 90k in credits and XP. That was a riot. I'll do 2 or 3 laps of it later tonight or tomorrow. I hope every festival site has a long race like that.

Alright. Probably a stupid question, but I've driven automatics my entire life.

I just did my first "manual" race and won, but I'm not sure if my timing is great on shifting.

If you're turning, how should you down shift? Are you just listening or do you have an general idea before you go into it? And while accelerating, do you up shift before or while you're in the red?

You know, I don't even know how to answer that question in a video game. This may seem silly, but driving a stick has always been so much about feel and understanding the car. What gear to be in, what MPH do you shift? Can you feel when it's ready?

I've tried doing manual in games, but always been disappointed (which is a really silly thing for me to be about a video game). If you won a race, I think you're doing OK.

Anyway, to your question, in real life I would have the clutch in and brake a bit into the turn, as well as down shift (but because the clutch is in, the car is in neutral). Then start accelerating partway through the turn and then upshift once the RPMs get high enough out of turn.

Haha. Thanks for the info! I asked my wife and she couldn't explain it.

I think the down shifting is just concerning me a bit. I feel like I limp out of turns at times. Almost like I down shifted too much and have to correct it almost immediately after.

I probably spent too much time looking at the RPMs as well. I think I just need to get used to listening.

I just started as well, been watching RPMs to much. I need to start listening more.

I completely agree with your statement about the lack of "feel" in games. I love driving stick in real life, but in games I just use auto shift. Manual just feels like more of a chore than anything. I'm not about to drop $300+ on a good wheel setup so I'd rather simply enjoy the game and the cars.

It's funny because I always try it, do well with it, but then end up annoyed and not having as much fun.

So here is my two cents on the manual transmission thing, I've been playing using manual in racing games since NFS Most Wanted 2005.

I actually can't race without it now, it feels so weird to have the shifting done for me and I feel out of control. I don't even have to look at the spedometer now because it's muscle memory and listening. It helps to be wearing headphones at first so you can hear the car and when to shift. I usually wait until it's in the red but it depends on different things. If I'm starting to lose grip because of TC being off I shift up, for turns I usually shift down quickly to help slow the car down.

Once you use manual for awhile and get used to hit it's really hard to go back IMO. I also notice my lap times are seconds shorter because of the manual transmission and being able to control the car more. It's definitely not for everyone and I agree it doesn't feel like it does in real life, I like hearing everyone's methods.

I'm the same way. I never race in automatic, but it's because I've been racing Manual for years. Plus like you I've also gotten use to it. I just play it by ear.

Picked up a used copy of Lost Odyssey. Exited to replay it. Those Thousand Years of Dreams stories are amazing and the OST is some of Umatsu's best work. The Ring System reminded me a little bit of Shadow Hearts Judgement System.
