    Re: Xbox One

I'm getting Xbox One X and I am super excited about it. I also have a PS4 Pro but cannot stand not having the most powerful machine out there. It's like a disease or something haha.

I was considering getting Elite controller but some of the reviews out there make the durability sound like a major problem. I was curious if anybody would recommend getting the Elite controller or if I should just stay away. Thanks!

The Elite has no durability issues, it's like a tank. People are just idiots who abuse their stuff

I've had an Elite controller since launch and haven't had any issues with it. To be honest, it's one reason why the XB1 is my preferred console at this point.

That's what I was hoping to hear. I was an Xbox 360 guy last gen in part because I preferred the controller. Thanks for the feedback.

That's great to hear! My gaming stuff is very well taken care of and safe from the kids so probably won't have any issues then.

              Re: Xbox One

As some of you may have read in the Playstation forum I was recently ripped off all my consoles and game discs were taken in the theft. I have been reimbursed by my insurance company but now I'm trying to decide if I want to replace my Xbox one with a new S or X console. The reason I'm going back and forth on this is because 95%of my gaming I do on the PS4 Pro and I can't justify spending $500.00 on a console I will only be using for the few MS exclusives that I like, and there aren't many. I currently play Halo 5, Gears of War 4, Froza 6, Horizon 3, will be buying Forza 7 if the cars don't drive like they are on ice this time and I think there were a couple new games coming out that I'm interested in. As far as multi platform games go I'm using the Pro.

So I guess I'm looking for opinions on the Xbox one S . Does it have improved graphic's compared to regular Xbox one? I don't really care about the 4k bluray player as I will never buy discs again since my bluray movie and concert collection was just stolen, I'm going 100% digital from now on. I'm so glad 90% of my PS4 games are digital, you can't steal them lol.

If the games look a bit better on the S and I can save $250.00 that may be the way I go. what do you think? Sell me on which one to buy,

At this point the S is base hardware and will not get you improved graphics like the Xbox or Pro. It supports 4k TVs and HDR, but has nothing substantial to improve performance over the original Xbox One

Yeah I remember thinking when I got my S that it'd be like going from the PS4 to PS4 Pro and boy was I wrong....

The S is basically the Xbox One with a UHD movie player and HDR for Forza Horizon 3 (and the upcoming Forza 7)

Why did you think this? I don't think OneS was ever marketed as a "4k" gaming device.

Because it is natural to think that from it being marketed as 4k capable that it would just be the same as how the Pro was (or to me it seemed that way anyways).

Not to mention that's how many places market it erroneously. Heck I was just at Best Buy yesterday and the woman there who works for Best Buy was telling me I should consider buying an Xbox One S so I can play "everything in 4K..."

Couple that with having just gone from a PS4 to PS4 Pro and actually seeing major differences in performance and visuals in games, I was expecting the same.

Second paragraph is why I never rely on a person working retail for any reliable information. Gotta do that research work yourself.

You are coming at this as if I'm crazy to think this but many people I know of were (and are) under the misconception that it plays 4K games. Mostly because it's natural to think if it is a game player and can play 4K movies the games will be 4K, esp when the competition the PS4 Pro is the same way.

I didn't say I believed what she was saying, I was saying that to illustrate that sales people tell the public incorrectly and thus that's how the perception becomes what it is.

Dude I'm 47 years old, I know much better than to go by what any minimum wage worker in an electronics store tells me, LOL. I've known that since I was in my teens and got into computers, games, etc.

Not crazy. Just uniformed. There was no reason to think the OneS was for 4k gaming at launch.

I don't really believe that, I read plenty before upgrading. I was primarily focused on the 4K UHD aspect is all. The truth is it's sketchy and MS prefers it that way.

Just go direct to the microsoft page for it. Very clear on what it is.

4k blu ray, 4k streaming. HDR. I believe digital foundry mentioned how the cpu is slightly faster and in games with unlocked frame rate you will get a minor boost over the OG XBO.

The issue seems to be that people don't pay attention. They hear 4k streaming, 4k upscale, and they just say oh yeah it plays games at 4k. Word of mouth, started by anyone, isn't much of an excuse because no matter how many people heard it, believed it, and went with it, it wouldn't sway the information for those who are informed or who know how to read product information.

EDIT - and seeing that you now have replied seemingly wanting to blame MS for it and being confusing...head back however many pages in this thread to when it released last year. I don't remember any single person being confused as to what it does or the product details being sketchy.
