I am tempted to get an XBoxOX or whatever it's being called, but don't think I can justify the price point. Maybe I will go with an S once the price goes down. I do want to play State of Decay 2 and PUBG but that is about it.

"Xbox One xXx: Always bet on Black" is the official name.

Didn't the S get a price drop like yesterday? And why can't I preorder this thing yet?

I'll have to reassess this fall...temping there too. Might be better to just go Fire Box in our bedroom instead of Xbox, and i'll have to see if my new office can do the Win 10 streaming better (I get crap connection where I'm at right now).

I'll have to see what the trade ins are though too...a Xbox One is a great dvd/streaming box so getting crap for it would be annoying.

I know, I just know they are going to announce the preordering is up when I am at the doctors or something and I will get home and all the preorders are sold out. That's what happened to me with the Nintendo Switch.

Fine by me. Preordering it once it's available.

I don't get why people are surprised at the price. Xbox one launched at the same price unless I'm mistaken.

I also see it being compared to the pro price a lot but X has a uhd drive and it brings more to the table 4k/power wise. So 100 more isn't surprising.

Indeed, I thought the same thing. More powerful system with a UHD Drive.

The price makes total sense when you view it that way. The problem is most people will just not view it that way. Instead they'll think "Why does this cost more than double the other Xbox One? Could it really be that much better??"

Those people don't matter though. If they don't know the difference this console isn't for them. They are specifically targeting a customer that knows what this console is capable of. Most of the people you are talking about are casual gamers who haven't invested in a 4k/hdr tv yet. If you have invested in a 4k tv you most likely know what the difference is between this and the Original Xbox one. That's the customer they are targeting.

Well that's all true, but I think you may be underestimating the number of people who buy these things who don't have a clue and have a big wallet. Either for themselves or their children. They are out there. And they do go by what they perceive the product to be based upon name.

Sort of reminds me of my first video game system. I asked my dad for the Atari 2600. That was $99 if memory serves. Well my dad went to Kmart and saw two systems there, the Atari 2600 and the Atari 26000 Deluxe system and being as my dad knew DELUXE was much better he bought that one for me at the $199 price.

Needless to say I loved getting the one with multiple games, Indy 500 controllers and the works but I wonder if he'd have bought the Atari 2600 X at $199 over the Atari 2600 S at $99.

A name and what it speaks to makes a huge difference in getting money from consumers who can afford better but don't really understand the technical aspect.

Those people you speak of, the people like me who are technical and want the best. They're buying an Xbox One super duper system whether it's called the Xbox One Scorpio, Xbox One X or whatever.

The ones that Microsoft may lose out on are ones like my dad who bought the system that cost double based upon the name conveying to him a really superior system and worth the extra money...

P.S. My dad hates video games with a passion now. I always love to remind him he got me into them..ahahahahahah

I'm not quite ready to get a 4K TV, so I'll be fine with my XBox One S for awhile longer. I think my next purchase may be a Nintendo Switch. The One S and Switch should keep me plenty busy for quite some time!

I think they are fine with losing that customer though. Since in reality the only way to not lose them is price the X in line with the S which doesn't really do them any good or make sense. Plus if the kid wants an Xbox the dads getting the kid an Xbox. So they aren't really losing a customer. Just selling them a different model of their own product.

If Microsoft really is smart they will have a fantastic trade up program and thus get a lot more Xbox One X's installed out there while having a large supply of refurbished Xbox One S's they can resell to those looking to game on a budget.

Right now the price of an Xbox One S is going to be $199. What do you guys all think is the absolute best Microsoft will have for a trade in value for an Xbox One S, so long as you are trading it towards an Xbox One X?

                                $125, $150?
