For me being and Xbox guy just wasn't blown away in a way, I have the one S and the PS4 pro which I have been extremely happy with, I'm sorry Sony just has the games I wanna play, MS didn't show me any games I care about at all. Looking forward what Sony has in store tonight and if they cut the price of the Pro I'd be worried if I wan MS.

        Xbox One

There were at least 6 exclusives I am interested in that showed last night. 4 of them I already knew of but I would still like to see more of a couple of them before I'm sold. Im pretty excited about forza horizon and gears getting 4k patches too. Im hoping rise of the Tomb raider gets the same.

I'm sure there will be about the same amount of exclusives I'm interested in tonight. Rest of my gaming will be third party and from what I saw last night I'm confident most of my third party games will be played on Xbox X. That AC origins game and metro both looked great. Anthem looked incredible. I just don't see the exclusive thing as a huge issue. I know there will be a few every year I grab on each console most likely. It all comes down to preference I guess.

And there are plenty of refurbed/used XBOne S out there already. You can go to any gamestop and get one right now. They don't have a limited quantity of them. It's also on sale for $199 at some places and got a price drop to $250. If that's not budget enough for people, they really should find a new hobby.

There's little reason for developers to put time, money and effort into superior graphics for a system with a small or nearly non existent user base. The more xbox one x systems that are sold the more we will see games made with enhancements especially for it.

I would think if you are into pc gaming you'd know the installed user base directly determines how projects resources are allocated.

I would think any decent studio is gonna develop for the most powerful platform available. That's pretty much what's been happening forever.

              Re: Xbox One

They're going to sell the S to people on a budget and the X to those who want an upgrade/holiday buyers. It's pretty much a win-win.

In reality it's just keeping the circle moving. Eventually the X will come down and continue to drop in price as the next console gets closer (whenever that is). It's basically what we've known at a quicker pace.

It's actually a really good model in my opinion it just keeps the cycle going. There's less of a lull with these 'mid-gen' upgrades. People with 4k TV's get the immediate benefit and Microsoft is betting that the trend of people buying 4k and wanting to take advantage moves faster than the console cycle.

This initial price point is to capitalize ASAP and with time it'll drop just like the S did. Which was a relatively short period of time in terms of console releases.

Here's a good idea of Microsoft exclusives for Xbox One...it's from a guy on neogaf called "Nightengale". Kind of explains everything.

The console still hasn't been approved by the FCC and I wonder if that is on purpose to see what sony does with price cut on the Pro. If they announce 350, I can see them registering a 2nd console and doing like they did with the S. Initially 500 with a 2tb drive then a month later a 1tb for 450.

Pretty much. It'll be $399 in a year or so, drop another $50 in 2019 as we talk about the imminent PS5 in 2020, and will be $299 or less when the Xbox One X2 releases in 2021.

Meanwhile the Xbox One S will be a console someone can pick up at any time for $199 or less between now and then and play many of the good games released in the last 20 years on a Microsoft platform. A bunch of them with just a simple EA Access or Gamepass subscription.

                    I'm in for that strategy.

I don't know. I pretty much agree with this but are we expecting ps5 to out perform the X? I could see the ps5 maybe just being on par or a little better than the X. Which would give Microsoft a little more time. They wouldn't have to rush another console out. I'm also not sure the X drops quite as quick for the same reasons.

I also see it being compared to the pro price a lot but X has a uhd drive and it brings more to the table 4k/power wise. So 100 more isn't surprising.
I'm really surprised to not see more people making this connection. We are early in the 4K TV generation. Many people will want a UHD player when they get one, and the both the XB1S and XB1X have them. Gaming and movies.

You would think Sony, credited with popularizing the DVD and winning the BluRay war over HD-DVD would consider this.

Case in point. I finally bought an HDTV (Sony x900e) yesterday and came how with a One S and plans to sell my XB1 Elite. Today I hit a video store to get a move to watch. I will buy an XB1X day one, and play Forza 7 in all its glory, and the best versions of multiplatform games.

Yeah, it'll perform better but virtue of newer architecture. It's the rest of their value proposition I'm concerned with and why I'm out for now (ie BC/PS Now). Can always use more power.

Diminishing returns will hit everyone (except Nintendo) for a bit, there's not going to be another 'HD" jump. the One X already supports a lot of the bleeding edge stuff that the PS5 will support (VRR, newer HDMI standards, ATMOS/etc for games).

When it's economical MS will ship another revision, I expect it to be a pretty quick tempo, every 4 years or so, but we'll see. Diminishing returns and forward/backward compatibility make it easier for people to hold off (by design), will want the latest and greatest just like many PC gamers and their hardware.
