Some TV's accept HDR signals, but accepting an HDR signal and outputting an HDR signal is 2 completely different things. Like I've seen TV's that say it supports HDR but it's an 8bit TV. So it will take the signal but can't actually output an HDR 10bit signal. I'm not a expert at this but it was something I read across many sites before purchasing my TV.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

Royal you are correct. A TV can display HDR and not offer WCG. It's rare but possible. Most TV's that offer HDR also have a WCG.

You will need a 10 bit panel in order to get both HDR and WCG.

WCG is a color space. BT 2020 is the actual term.

The important part of the equation is the source. The source must be sending those things out in order to see them.

That LG seems to offer Active HDR and True Color Accuracy. Maybe this is LG's way of saying the TV offers HDR and WCG. I'm not sure.

      Hope this was helpful

Well Scott maybe to answer this a little better. I have the Hisense H8C 55" in my bedroom, which offers HDR but no WCG to my knowledge, but I also believe it has a 10bit panel. So what is my set producing?

Royal, your Hisense is giving you HDR, but your right, it doesn't offer a WCG.

The reality of this is, HDR and WCG are 2 separate technologies a 4k TV can offer. They both don't have to be present in order for the other to work, but if you can get both that's just icing on the cake...

Right now for gaming HDR is the buzz word. You will definitely see more games offering HDR. So when buying a 4K TV you should probably future proof by getting something offering HDR.

But if HDR TV's are too much out, a good 4K TV is just as good, due to HDR still being in its infancy

This is the bedroom TV, I game on my TCL 605.

Its weired because the Hisense have has HDR and can even accept a 12 bit signal. But its a 10bit (or10bpc) Panel.

              Re: Xbox One

I'm having a weird issue that just began popping up. I'm not sure if the culprit is my TV, the console, or my sound bar.

When I turn my Xbox on, it turns on my TV and sound bar, and then, using ARC, the sound is routed to the sound bar, which is also noted in a pop-up generated by my TV. The problem is, it's not. The sound is still coming from my TV, and my sound bar is silent.

The solution, it turns out, is simple, but annoying. I unplug and plug in the HDMI cable that is the input for the Xbox. This instantly sends the sound to the sound bar like it should.

Any idea how to get it to go back to just sending sound to the sound bar when it boots up?

That is weird. A few questions:
                1) Is your HDMI configuration Xbox -> TV -> Sound Bar, with the Sound Bar on the TV's ARC port?
                2) ARC is implemented using HDMI CEC. If you turn on your sound bar or your TV (without the Xbox being involved) does it turn the other one on?

                  Try using optical instead

Yes, I plug in Xbox -> TV -> Sound Bar. ARC is weird to me, so I don't really understand it. HDMI CEC has no effect on my Xbox, but it is active for my Switch. And I do think that has something to do with it.

Earlier tonight I had done t he same thing, and fixed the sound issue. but then I went to go pick up dinner, and my wife played on the Switch. Sure enough, I had to do it again.

Also, we have had some zero sound issues, where I don't get sound from TV or from the Xbox. When that happens, switching inputs to the Switch and then back the Xbox fixes it.

I think it might be worth turning off CEC, since the Xbox doesn't use it. My wife likes that she can turn on the switch wit the controller, and that automatically changes the input to the one the switch is on. But it's not a dealbreaker.

I may also try optical, although I prefer HDMI if possible. And since my sound bar has just one HDMI port, ARC makes that really nice. It's also nice that the TiVo feeds into the Xbox, which also saves a port.

This did not start when I got the XB1X, but in just the last week. So I'm not sure if there was an update. It might even be an update to my TV, a Sony X900e, that triggered the issue.

Edit: Also, by using ARC, it is nice that I never have to switch inputs on the sound bar. Everything comes through the HDMI connection. If I go to optical for the Xbox, then I have to switch. And that means leaving the sound bar controller out, which kind of sucks.

It was weird with my ARC...i have optical going to it as well, but somehow managed to get the tv to control the volume of the sound bar (and it turns it on and all that)...I don't really know what I did, but i'm happy cause my cable remote couldn't figure out my sound bar code, but now it all works with that one remote.

It's hard to know exactly what's going on, but if I were to speculate, there's some order of the devices turning on that could be messed with the ARC/CEC topology. That's why I asked if the TV turns on the sound bar (or vice versa). If it does, stop having the Xbox turn on one of those devices, and then have IR blasting turn on one device (say the TV) and let CEC wake up the other (like the sound bar).

                        Does that make sense?

Is it possible this is a game issue?. When I tried ark split screen I didn’t notice this issue.

That depends on the game. Some games use the bars on the side to keep the same proportion while playing split screen.
