Re: Xbox One
No matter what I am excited at what MS might have coming. They obviously know their prior ways of getting exclusives didn't work, so hopefully something will this time.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
This is just with The Walt Disney Co. You could pretty much bundle the NFL, FIFA, NBA, and NHL licenses as similar. The contracts won were to have them on multiple platforms so exclusivity is not an option. However, Microsoft can still purchase them if EA wanted to sell however the cost would be somewhere around $50 billion IMO. How much was Minecraft/ Mojang for? $2.5 billion? Not sure MS investors could be sold on this as they watch Madden play out on a PS4 while paying the NFL and Players Assoc its fair share.
Under the agreement, EA will develop and publish new Star Wars titles for a core gaming audience, spanning all interactive platforms and the most popular game genres, while Disney will retain certain rights to develop new titles within the mobile, social, tablet and online game categories.
LOL......Someone from Microsoft spouting this EA news has caused an effect with its stock price.

Re: Xbox One
Buying EA, PUBG Corp, etc. is not necessary. MS should first invest in expanding 343i and The Coalition so that they can work on new IP as well as the Halo and Gears staples. Also, they should continue working with independent studios and bring us sequels to games like Alan Wake, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, and some of their dormant IP from the OG Xbox days.XBL: Mean Greene

Re: Xbox One
I agree. The time for doing this "organically" has passed. They have to go big! They should want to have games out by 2019, so you're talking about studios that have been working on games for the past couple of years that need a cash or talent infusion to put the game out.

Re: Xbox One
Yeah. To elaborate I think they need to do both. They need to do it right, growing their existing opportunities, but they can also use their cash to create opportunities to better the platform.
I'm not the biggest fan of exclusivity in gaming and all that jazz, but the reality is this is the only platform / ecosystem I am gaming in so I also don't really care, if I'm being honest. It's up to the competition to create the value proposition to get be back, just as it's on MS to do what they can to make sure I never leave.
They don't even need to buy EA, just strike a deal for their catalog to add it to Game Pass, fold in EA Access (or add Game Pass to EA Access) and make it an extension of their marketing partnership. Co-publish some titles and make them a 10/One exclusive, work to bring EA titles to the MS Store on Windows 10 (like Madden) that aren't yet on PC at all.
And finally, support Play Anywhere with EA titles.
Then... rinse and repeat with Ubisoft. Ubisoft Access, Play Anywhere, expanded BC / Game Pass support, etc.
I expect at E3 we'll see movement towards some of the above concepts, sure would be fun if it was all of them though.Comment

I am intrigued by what could be announced at E3, because they have to do something. Otherwise they'll never catch up or even come close in games.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
No link needed, it was common knowledge about the sports agreements with the leagues and it's common sense that the NFL and the other sports leagues EA makes games for wouldn't allow the terms of their agreement to change to cut their user base in half...
Actually more than in half because PS4 has about double the installed user base that Xbox has..so yeah that would never happen
