If it means price drop for PS3 games, I hope the next gen comes fast. I just got my PS3 a year ago, so there are TONS of games I haven't played. A new generation, will make it easier for me to buy all these games at, hopefully, lower price (even for used ones).

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
Take it for what it's worth but apperantly Sony shot down the rumor of the PS4 showing at E3.
Granted, in the first sentence he says "I don't think we're contemplating [etc...]"“I don’t think we’re contemplating talking about anything to do with future console iterations at this point,” Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House told CVG, noting that Sony is “just entering into this great period for PS3.”
Instead, says Sony, keep yours eyes on the PS3: “[One] thing I always point to is that, somewhat in contrast to our major competitors, we have, particularly with PS2, managed the length of the lifecycle and ensured its profitability for our publishing partners for a much longer lifecycle than has been true of the competition,” says House.

Yeah that's typically the case with these types of statements.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
Has the PS3 been as successful as the PS2? Can Sony count on another strong life cycle from the PS3? I tend to think no. If MS and Nintendo have two new systems released in the next year or so, I highly doubt Sony can rely on what has already been a slow cycle for them this generation.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
Most certainly has not, a few years in there was doubt that the PS3 would ever actually end up making them a profit (may still be the case). It may be making money now, but may not recoup all of the earlier selling it at a $200-$300 loss and not recovering that investment in software sales.Has the PS3 been as successful as the PS2? Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
I don't think anyone will get close to the PS2 levels of sales in the near future. For some odd reason, those pesky PS2's are still selling according to recent numbers that I've seen. They are staying at a good 40-50K a month alone in the U.S. and in Japan they've been around 30K or less per month. For a console that is nearing 12 years old, it still has some legs.Has the PS3 been as successful as the PS2? Can Sony count on another strong life cycle from the PS3? I tend to think no. Those that are still buying PS2's have not yet jumped on to the PS3 or 360, so time will tell when both those consoles drop in price a bit further if they continue to sell when PS4/Xbox Next arrive.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 01-10-2012, 01:33 PM.Comment

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
Sony not planning on announcing a new console at E3
During a roundtable with reporters at the Consumer Electronics Show, a reporter asked a question to Hirai attributing comments to the head of its videogame division, Andrew House, that there would be no announcement about a PlayStation 4 at the show.
Hirai, who appointed House for the job, said they are not talking about a new home console now and that they don’t plan to do so at E3.
“Andy (House) is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3,” Hirai said. “I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.”Last edited by CaptainZombie; 01-10-2012, 07:49 PM.Comment

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
If it is in any way confirmed that MS will be talking next Xbox at E3, you can be sure Sony will find something to announce. A lot can happen in 5 months and I'm sure they're eager to prevent another year long head start. A 10 year life cycle doesn't mean it isn't overlapped with a new product... just as the PS2 was with the PS3.Comment

Based on the 360 Slim, I think MSFT learned from their mistake with the original design. I don't expect the same issues next go around from them.Comment

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
And there's really no need for Microsoft to jump the gun again, because their actually making money unlike with the Xbox. The second wind the 360 has got since the launch of Kinect is incredible, and in many ways, unprecedented for a console that's been on the market for as long as it has.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
