I played a similar amount on a base PS4. One of those where I got busy and didn’t play for a few months, and then I always wanna restart a game when I do that, which just makes it less likely that I’ll jump back in.

I did try playing it a few months back, after a year of mostly only gaming on PC at 60fps+ and it just didn’t feel right.

It runs great on my midrangey laptop. Everything on Ultra with the exception of shadows and I think reflections knocked down to high. 60-80fps @1080p and is a noticeable visual upgrade from the back compatible version on PS5.

I'll have to mess with the settings a bit on the laptop. Before updating drivers I started at ultra and it struggled to hang around 40 (and I have a 3080 in it)...got the latest nvidia drivers and started with geforce recommended. DLSS performance to render at 1080p (connected to a 4k monitor) all settings ultra with one ultra+ and one high, it got me around 55.

My desktop handled ultra at 21x9 - 3440x1440 native just fine with 75-85.

Yeah, shadows was the biggest one for me. Big frame boost going down to high there. And whatever option that goes up to ultra+, I had that down to high as well… Pretty sure it was one of the reflections settings.

Looks very sharp @1080p, no DLSS. I mostly play on a 1080p monitor, and I usually like to try 1440p with DSR plus DLSS, but for some reason GoW doesn’t have a full screen mode.

I'm currenty playing it now and its one of the better optimized games at release I've played in a while. I actually beat it back on the PS4 Pro.

I did play a little on PS5, but never got back into it. Don't know why I'm even playing it now to be honest.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

So I've been looking for a gaming laptop and I don't wanna spend anything above $1,000. I know I'm not gonna get a powerhouse with that amount, but I don't need that anyway.

So basically, any good suggestions for something at or under that price? I've looked at a ton, but don't know much about what the best ones would be other than just looking at the specs. Basically I'm only seeing 1650 and 3050 GPU's. I would assume to get one with a 3050.

Probably only a few. I usually play most triple A games on my Series X, but I do want to play X-Plane and MS Flight sim on it because I want to get one of the cheaper yoke systems. I know I won't be able to run crazy setting in MSFS, but X-Plane isn't too intensive.

I will also use it for everyday use as well. I have a gaming desktop, but I hardly ever play games on it anymore so I'm thinking about selling it.

Like I said, I don't need it for intensive games. Just want the best I can get in that price range.

If you’re not in a big rush, I would really try to hold out for a deal for something with a 2060, or maybe even a 3060 if you’re lucky.

Iirc, the 3050 and 1650 are pretty gimped for memory.

Yeah, I will see if I can find something with a 2060. I did see one or two 3060's out there right around that price. But I do kinda need to get something sooner than later.

If anyone cares about the conclusion to my internet issues, I tracked my speed tests that I performed for every 30 minutes and created a graph of them. I also used Ping Plotter and saved the data from that. I presented all of this to my ISP. I also set up an appointment for a nee ISP to come set up at my house just to try them out for a month.

Coincidentally a few days after I presented the data to my ISP I received a phone call from them that I wasn't able to answer. They did leave a message stating they have spoken with their engineering team and will address the issues that coming Friday. Finney enough, that Friday was also the day my new ISP was arriving to do their setup.

Long story short they seemed to have actually done the maintenance required as my internet has been fixed every since that Friday. The hop where all the issues occurred is now working properly. Be it coincidental or not, I shared the data and days later they had the issue fixed. I'm happy again.

Moving forward I'm going to continue using both ISP's since I'm a mad man. My PC is plugged directly into the wall port for the fiber network. Every other device in my house uses the other ISP's cable internet. I have a backup in case either goes out, and when both are working Mrs. Canes can use all the wifi she wants while my PC isn't impacted at all.

                            It's a happy ending afterall.
