Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Compare the "A" and "AA" quality games we had up through the PSX/PS2-era. If you compare that to what we get today from those same sectors... it's basically fallen off a cliff. Which is sad. This is where the indies are picking up some of the slack.
Anyways, rant done with
Shooting and killing is fun, but there has to be more to this hobby than doing that all the time in 95% of games.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
This is what really bugs me about games today. Outside of Rayman Legends I don't remember the last actual platformer a major studio has released. Sports games feel like a total of 5 to choose from now.

As a huge fan of both Platforming and old-school turn-based JRPG style gameplay (probably my 2 favorite console genres, bar none)... I feel the same pain. We used to have a ton of options, even if some of them weren't the greatest quality. Most games had some feature (be it art direction, story, sound/music, something) that was a redeeming feature that made it worth it to play - even if it wasn't "the total package."
Now we don't get **** all for those genres. Every single game is either a shooter or some form of open world silliness. It's frustrating.badComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I really want to get an old Sega MD again just so I can play all these games I'm thinking about now. I mean, there's no way a game like Bubsy or Cool Spot is greenlit today.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Some are, yes. The bigger ones that were good were (FEZ, Braid, Rogue Legacy [which I can't wait to hit PS4] and a few others included) but I was mainly talking about A/AA game releases for those genres. You start to get burned out when you have "Sprite Graphics Platformer #300735" release. They start to blend together if you don't have something to set them apart (like Rogue Legacy, being a semi-Rogue-like.)badComment

I get tired of the indie game like you mention (they all seem to run together).
The AAA push has killed that lower tier of decent games that could be more adventurous. Maybe one day it can come back, with better dev tools/engines or something.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
If you can afford it, own both consoles. Last generation I deeply regret not keeping my PS3 throughout the life of last gen, I kept it for it about a year and a half. I ended up missing out on a lot of good PS3 exclusives.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
That may change down the line of course.
My PS3/PS4/PC/WiiU have me covered so far.
Once there are some X1 exclusives I really want to play I'll think about grabbing it.Joshua:

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Yeah, normally I own both.
I think this might be the first generation since Genesis/SNES where I haven't owned both. MS-Exclusives have been absolutely **** since the 360 released.
I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that at some point I will own both, but if things keep up the way they have over the past 5+ years, it'll be nice just sticking to one console for a full generation.badComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Yeah the games are the reason I've picked one up. The announcement of H1Z1 pretty much sealed the deal for me. Titanfall was pretty fun for the first week or two but I haven't touched it since. The Ohio State University

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I don't think either console is a must buy yet as others have said. Titanfall doesn't do it for me anymore. Infamous was fun, but not enough for me to recommend someone buying the PS4 for that game specifically. As time goes on, there will be those must haves. If I had to choose one as a recommendation, it would be the PS4 because of The Show.Comment
