So how about an actual response? What are you expecting, since they almost certainly have something coming to address used games. Would you prefer a per-publisher DRM (maybe using the Sony patent to marry a disc to a console) or what we know of MS's plan? What do you see as an acceptable compromise between what we know?

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
It's really stupid to predict much before E3, but what the hell: if Sony handles the used game market in a better/more friendly way for consumers than MS appears to be doing, that could be the big game changed in the early console wars this go around. Sony has a real chance here to get out front. Everyone has let them know they want something different/better than what MS is proposing.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I think the best compromise is to allow for the online check to be bypassed if that games disc is in the drive. Outside of that I'm not sure how you best access to all games you own at any time instantly.
If Sony's answer is to pass the buck to the publishers for this DRM in a effort to look like the good guy I'm not sure people are going to be happy with that result.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
The only point in the entire used game debate that has really ever struck me as indefensible has been "Why would a developer/publisher deserve to be paid for someone buying a used game?" Everything else I've seen or thought of a retort. I have yet to see a reasonable answer to that question.
The solution to the issue of used games hurting the industry, encourage people to buy digital and/or keep the games they have.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'm getting both as I'm weak.. just tell me the date and $...
Can't wait for E3.
Sucks I have to work during E3 but at least it's my last week on nights for 4 months.
I will have the replay streaming somewhere at work since I'll be sleeping during it being live.Joshua:

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I think the main reason I'm going to be going PS4 on launch day only is because that's what the majority of my friends are going with. We're all pretty much in agreement that the Xbox One just doesn't look appealing and that all of their IP's are old and stale.
One website nailed it right on the head, can't remember the site. After MSFT came out and said they were going to destroy Sony at E3, the basic response has been negative towards MSFT. People are starting to not take them seriously. The site said they have basically become the Sony that launched the PS3.
I don't really care too much about exclusives, although it is a plus. I care about gaming and how many people that I have to play with. So far, there's only one company that has met both of those needs, one has met both, one has met zero.Comment

I'm glad I don't stay "connected" as far as what all the "in the know" sites claim etc...most of what has been reported for the last few months have been nothing more than "let's get something out to get hits" reporting.
Most of my friends are XBOX but I do have a few on PSN also...
So as a favor to all my friends I'll have to get both.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I think Burns has nailed it right there with you like I said last week in the Xbox One thread. Now your crying about Sony not opening their mouths about DRM and Used Game situation. The baffling part is that people over at MSFT keep opening their mouths and getting all kinds of bad press. For once Sony is being smart and keeping theirs shut till E3. I don't know many, no matter which other consoles you own and a PC, when I see your name and moods, I see the color green with a swivel.Last edited by mestevo; 05-31-2013, 01:42 AM.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Kaz Hirai States PS4 is a Gaming Console First.
Games come first, also mentions that PS4 has all the expected entertainment options and more that hasn't been announced. More to come later blah blah blah.
I'm thinking Sony may have made a few changes to shorten any entertainment portions of their E3 presentation.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'm all for DRM! I think gamers will benefit more plus Gamestop doesn't give that much credit anyway. If I wanna give my game to someone else just have them pay the full price within the first 90 days of release then after that the second hand game will be 50 percent off which is more credit than you would get from Gamestop.
But what about those how don't have the internet, are they SOL? What are the statistics on that? Can Microsoft and Sony afford to lose that parentage of gamers?Comment

Many people cannot afford to pay 60 or even 30 bucks for any game. So do you tell them tough kid you only get to play half a dozen or so games on your console for the life of the machine? Let the devs/pubs sell the game make their money and allow people to dispose of their own property as they see fit.Comment

I don't know many, no matter which other consoles you own and a PC, when I see your name and moods, I see the color green with a swivel. How the hell am I crying about anything, just trying to start a discussion. You seem to only chime in these days to label people, little else. People with no interest in the Xbox thread other than to tear it down, going crazy about patents and things not even revealed or discussed, but someone tries to start a discussion about what DRM approach Sony might take and I'm crying? Is this going to turn into holy ground like the Wii U and Vita threads?
Now I want to touch on the "people in the xbox thread just to tear it down". I have stated numerous times I hated PS3 and was only going "Xbox 720" back over a year ago and that held up until a month or two ago. So I have no bias towards PS4 and would honestly rather have stayed Xbox, but they alone pushed me away by their decisions. So me commenting in that thread falls in line with your comment that I'm only in there to tear it down, YOU ARE DAMN RIGHT!!! I HATE what MS is doing, they are ruining my hobby I enjoy, ruining the console I preferred, and making the industry look bad while doing it. So while I'm just expressing my point of view on the company I once favored, don't be misunderstood it is not from bias-ness towards Sony! It is entirly from the decisions MS has decided to go with and I DON'T LIKE THEIR DIRECTION!Last edited by Phobia; 05-31-2013, 09:07 AM.Comment
