Exp date will be at top under your name

So just installed the 2TB SeaGate hard drive which was very simple and took all of 20 minutes to do.

I got 1.76TB space available which kinda sucks that 225 gb are not available for whatever reason. I know the O.S requires space but the 500gb loses only 100gb and the 2TB loses 225gb....Not sure why if the O.S is the same size no?

It's due to partitioning, not just the OS. A 2tb drive isn't 2tb of usable space.

I understand is not going to be 2tb...The standarad 500gb gives you about 400gb to use...So I figure the 100gb is reserved for the O.S and other functions

But when I put a 2tb I was expecting only the 100gb to be used up by the O.S and other things....Not 225gb of it.

But is all good....Just found it weird that it more then doubled what the 500gb took from the stock hdd

Probably only 1.8gb usable on the drive before the OS. The PS4 OS isn't that big.

Not how HDD's work. Same on any PC, phone, etc.

For the guys using the Seagate external drive, after taking out the 2TB drive and putting it in your PS4, have you tried putting a 7200 RPM drive back into the external Seagate enclosure? I put my 500GB PS4 stock drive in there, but want to upgrade it and I have a spare 1TB 7200 RPM drive sitting around.

I know the drive may run a little hotter, but just curious if someone has done it.

I ended up just doing it. See what happens

It's due to marketing or whatever you want to call it. They call it a 2tb drive but it isn't actually that, just sounds better than saying 1.84tb or whatever the total amount is. Their marketed capacity is base 10, while computers use base 2. 1000 gb is sold as 1tb drive, though 1024gb is 1 tb on a computer. That alone makes it a bit less

Thank you guys for clearing it up.

Not a big deal as I installed 15 games and still have over a TB left so am good. Besides I delete sports games when new version comes out so I dont ever see me having a need for more.
