Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Does any one know when we found out the date for PlayStation experience last year? With Tokyo game show now being over PlayStation experience is like the last big game show for the year and I think that is going to the next time we really see the Spider-Man game.
Also when do you guys think 4k TV's will get cheap enough that you can buy a 55-60 inch 4k HDR for around $1000? Right now I know there are some TV's around that size and price but it looks like those TV's are the kind of middle like 7/10 type of TV's. The top type of TV's that are like 8/9 TV's at that size tend to still cost like 2000-4000. I really want to get a 4k TV but I don't want just a ok one. I want a really good 4k TV and I am still trying to get moved out and my life together.
As for 4K TV's with HDR, I literally just purchased this one from Best Buy -
According to rtings.com, it's the best 4K TV with HDR in the second tier. The top tier high end 4K TV's with HDR are a minimum of $1200 and higher. The Sony 4K TV that I bought has the main things I need - 10 bit gradient for HDR, yes for wide color gamut, low input lag and excellent motion blur. For $650 plus tax (includes free shipping), I think that it will definitely be a good 4K TV for gaming. It comes up short for movies and tv shows but for me, it's mainly about gaming so the other aspects don't concern me.
The Sony X800D is a 4k LED TV with good picture quality. It performs well in dark rooms due to the good native contrast. It handles motion very well, with little...
Depending on if you own or will own an Xbox One Slim or PS4 Pro, you could wait. The current PS4 does HDR but remember that in addition to the 4KTV, the games also need to support it or it won't matter.
For me, I have Forza/Gears 4 for Xbox One as well as ROTTR, Battlefield 1, Watch Dogs 2, COD: IW and 2017 games For Honor, Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Horizon: Zero Dawn.
I'm expecting other games that im interested in to support HDR as well. Right now, im just waiting on confirmation for Mafia III. Overall and including Mafia III, it's already ten games so the purchase is easily worth it.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Not sure when Sony will announce the official date for PSX. I'm guessing maybe late October but it also depends on if they have a press conference at Paris Games Week. I'll be surprised if they don't considering the European market is very good for PlayStation 4.

While I have had the same TV since 07 and when I see how little regular HDTV cost I am always surprised. I know the price of tech always goes down when something has been out for a longer time and I know 07 is a pretty old TV but still. The TV I have is 37 inch 720p TV that upscales to 1080p. When I got it I had to pay 700. Now I see similar TV that size that cost like 250-300. I don't know how long 4k has been a thing but I don't think I had ever heard of 4k in till early 2014 and I had never seen a 4k TV at best buy or any other places in till like mid 2014. At that time like the only 4k TV that cost less 1000 or less where ones that where like 40 inches. I think it was last year that Viso was the first to come out with a 50 inch for 1000 or less.
When it comes to xboxone I don't like Xbox at all and when it comes to PS4 PRO I have said before that I don't care for this whole mid gen upgrade thing. I am one of those people that is mad about the mid gen upgrade. If I had known we would get the ps4 pro only 3 years after ps4 came out and for the same price has a regular ps4 was I would have most likely wanted to get a ps4 and not got it on day 1. Because of this when ps5 comes out I am most likely going to want and see if we get a ps5 pro or something a few years after. So the only way I would upgrade to a PRO is if there ends up being some really good deals around black Friday or December or something for the PRO. But I would still like to have a 4k TV for going forward but really I still need to move out and get a better job but i am having a hard time finding a new job.Comment

Only major negative is that the TV has no local dimming and edge lighting. Full Array lighting is the best but it's only on the higher end and higher priced models and didn't want to spend the money. For me, I already know that the picture and HDR is going to blow me away once I start playing Forza so I can't complain plus the low input lag and excellent motion blur make up for the edge lighting and no local dimming.
43" Sony 4K HDR TV for $650 plus tax for my gaming needs is a good purchase. Not great but good as a six month to year stopgap.
I don't like or agree with the mid-gen upgrade idea but I can't stop Sony so I either ignore it and stay with what I have or I just say screw it and go with the flow. The PRO is not just for the 4K upscaling and HDR but also for the varying options in regards to the games themselves. That's what I really want to see. Getting an even better picture quality doesn't hurt either.
Yeah, if you don't have the money, it's definitely not worth upgrading in any way especially if you're out of work. I'm only going somewhat nuts is because I have a new credit card with 0% APR for 15 months and will be getting a $150 bonus soon since I already surpassed $500 in 90 days. LOL. The 0% APR is what allows me to buy what I want sooner rather than later and still only pay the actual amount. If it wasn't for the 0% APR, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.Comment

Did Sony and/or Mark Cerny ever release the official PS4 pro specs blog they talked about at the conference.

This is the same reason I'd never buy a slim. I didn't spend $250 on my Astros to let them collect dust.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
The Sony 4KTV I purchased is for me, an excellent cheaper stopgap while I wait for the CES show in January that will showcase all the new upcoming 2017 models. I thought about spending $1200 on the Samsung KS8000 but I hate the connect one box that comes with the TV and it has a chance of crapping out which makes the TV worthless since that's where all the connectors are located. Plus, im not a fan of the edge leg stands as I prefer the stand to be in the middle and edge would have required me to buy a new TV stand which would have cost another $100 so basically, for half the price, I got the best second tier 4KTV that does the main stuff that I need it to do.

A connection box sounds stupid for a tv lol. While 43 is not a bad size but considering I have a 37 inch right now I would like to upgrade to like 55-60. Right now 4k TV's around that size I am finding either cost like 2000-4000 or if they do cost around 1000 they either don't have HDR or they have a lot of lag or something.
While its not that I don't have any money. I didn't start driving in till I was 23 and had been working for 5 years already. So during the 5 years I was able to save up a good amount with not having to pay for car insurances and gas etc. Its just I am 27 now been working at the same place since I was 18 and fell stuck there and in life. I hate my job and they play to many favorites there and I don't make enough money. I make 10.25 a hour .25 over minimum wage. So even if I work full time after tax I only make 1400-1500 a month and most apartments cost 800-1000 here. So yeah if I didn't have to eat I could make it. But when rent cost so much that it would only give me 400-700 to pay for car stuff, phone, food etc I don't make enough. I just started school in Jan because I fell like I have no choice with how much I have tried to find a better new job with no luck and so many jobs are minimum wage or close to it. So because I am now going to school I am working less and making even less. I have a hard time with depression because of having a hard time with work.
So the thing is because I am still at home with the size of my room much bigger then the 37 inch I have right now would be bad for your eyes. I need a bigger place really before I should get a bigger new TV. I would like to have a 4k TV even if I don't get a PRO because I would like to be able to use the HDR on the regular ps4 that was just added and going from a 720p TV that I have right now to a 4k TV would see some improvements even with out the PRO because I would be going from playing games at 720p or 1080p upscale to full 1080p and with a 4k TV I would also kind of be ready for 4K Blurays and for ps5 when the time comes.Last edited by Smallville102001; 09-18-2016, 04:02 PM.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
So while I was saying I may want a while and try to get a 55-60 inch 4k tv for around a 1000 when prices go down I just saw this tv that is 49 inch and 1100. http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ks8000
Maybe I will get this tv not sure. That would still be a solid 12 inches bigger then the tv I have right now and it is only 100 more then the 1000 I was saying I would like to spend and with holidays coming up maybe it will get cheaper in a few months. It looks to be a solid tv that is balanced when it comes to how while it does like video games, movies etc. The only thing is it may be slightly to big for my room and the current 37 inch tv I currently have on a old computer stand and it already covers the whole stand from end to end. <!-- / message --><!-- added 1/18/11 -->Comment
