I think they just would have needed more time for all that maybe compensated some big devs for their effort in those regards to full Pro Mode options

    Edit

The way it feels right now, to me, as far as Pro Mode support, is bascially game to game instead of going in expecting a full fleshed out support its more like "eh, you get whatever is there." Maybe it is downsampling, maybe it is smoother performance , its a mystery
And the part about what you're saying, JareBear, that's really upsetting is that this console is partly in response to PC gaming. Sorry, I'm not even that familiar with PC gaming but from the many videos I've watched your choices are in the tens if not hundreds as far as how each game runs.

With the Pro, what you're getting is a take-it-or-leave it approach or what Tomb Raider does. If every game offered three or four options on how the individual player wants to run his game, whether at 1080p or higher, this thing could be a great buy for everyone who already owns a PS4. Whether it's worth it to them at that point to get almost every game at a supersampled 1080p and 60FPS is a personal choice. But you're not giving everyone options and you're not even giving the 4K player options as to how they want to play the game.

I think this system in a year will be much better many times over, and I expect Sony to back down a little bit on its 4K only attitude because you're literally killing your own sales.

I understand. In comparison, since getting the PS3 in 2008 I've bought 368 Blu-ray discs; 54 of those I have bought since getting a PS4 in July of 2014. Currently having a conversation with myself about when I start buying 4K discs instead of double-dipping later down the line. A Pro console with a UHD BD player would have made my decision extremely easy.

My plan for upgrading Blu's that I already own will be to buy the ones that run in native 4K. It'll be far too costly to upgrade the rest. But shoot, what says an 8K doesn't come out in the next four years? Ay, technology and money are a real hoot!

What also really gets me is that I could probably buy like 30-40 more Blu-ray titles and still not spend as much as I would on a Pro. It gives me no real incentive to go out and get one. And I know you're not trying to sell it to me, but rather you're just selling me on the idea that the moves they made for gaming purposes were the right ones. We'll see if that's true when the Scorpio comes out, because at least at that time we'll have enough background on how developers supported the Pro.

In the end it's about making gamers happy, and I think that Pro buyers with 4K television sets are not very disappointed whatsoever, while 1080p TV owners are thankful they are not shelling too much out of their wallets if they already own a PS4.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think 4K is a slouch by any means. I just don't see how certain games (I'm looking at you, Ratchet & Clank; I'm looking at you, LittleBigPlanet) have gotten away with releasing a current-gen title that was not 60 FPS though. I'm even more surprised that when something like the Pro comes out, Insomniac has the cajones to provide an upgraded option, none of which features 60 FPS as well.

I'm even further surprised that some forum members on here can't see 60 FPS improvements over 30 FPS. As I mentioned earlier, it's not exactly something you have to A/B with and see the comparison, as the difference is tremendous. Yet, they can see the 4K differences. I'm not saying they're negligible, but 1440p with upscaling is also a viable option.

I think the biggest word there is "option." The folks who made ROTTR had no problem providing options for everybody. Can they do 2160p/60 FPS? Unfortunately, no. The games that can, however, probably look and play drop-dead gorgeous; nearly enough to go out this BF and get a brand new 4K set alongside the Pro. What would really entice someone like me to just throw my money at them? Those 4K films.

I couldn't agree more with you Blzer. It all comes down to corporate greed. Sony is coming out with their stand alone 4K blu ray player in a couple of months so that's why they didn't include a 4K blu ray player. It was a bad move that will cost them sales. On AVS forums many people aren't getting the console just because it's missing it. I think Sony is getting cocky again just like they did after the ps2's success in my opinion. I'm sure Microsoft is seeing all this and will do the right thing. Microsoft already announced the Scorpio will include a 4K blu ray player. I also I agree that devs should follow what ROTTR did and give the gamers options. The problem with that is that I'm sure it takes time and these devs might not want to invest the time. As far as some Members not seeing the difference between 60 fps vs 30 fps is crazy to me too. It's obvious as night and day to me too lol. There's a member who said they don't see the difference between 480p and 1080p which I question if maybe some glasses might be needed. I think for the pro no 1080p game should be anything less than 60fps even though I know they said they don't want to alienate the OG PS4 players.

Where have OSERS jolted you to get one without a 4K set? Many are lamenting the PRO so far

Do you think $200 is a fair price for a launch PS4, Destiny: The Collection, Guitar Hero, and MLB The Show 16?

The Jarebear posted a link to eurogamers article which gave some great info of the benefits for 1080 display owners. Plus I will get a 4k tv at some point possibly next year.

Their is definitely benefit with some games, nothing with others, but personally if I had a 1080p set I'd still get. For the same two reasons you mentioned. There's been enough there showing some tangible benefits at 1080p. At the same time, there's some disappointing aspects and missed opportunities that hopefully become more seldom as the Pro matures.

No, I wouldn't accept less than $250 minimum for that. Strictly my opinion though.

I would not spend 200 on that....launch ps4 is the worst ps4 available due to the gloss and the noise
