Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Traded my ps4 in today for the slim setting it up right now. With how much the slim cost and with the 25 off for spending 100 thing at best buy and with the trade in value for the slim I am not really paying much to get a new smaller less noise system.Comment

Didn't you just get a 4k tv?Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Yes I did but I don't want to get a pro will just wait for ps5 to be able to play 4k and HDR. I did order a 4k Blu-ray player though. The slim with being 250 and with the $25 off thing best buy was doing today it came out to like $240 after tax and I should be getting around 140-170 for the trade in. So really I am only paying 70-100 to get a newer system and a game not bad when you consider games cost 60 by them self's. Pro on the other hand after tax even with the 25 thing cost like 402 after tax. So then I would have had to pay 250-260ish to get a pro even after the trade in and that is with out even getting a game out of it. A few weeks back the pro was 340 for like a day and I kind of thought about it. If I could have paid 340 and with the 25 thing if they had it back then and with the trade in value then I could have got a pro for like 170-200 but that would have been best. Now if I could have gotten the pro for that much but with a 4k player in it then I would have most likely done that.Comment

Philips - BDP7501 4K Ultra HD Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-ray Player - Black is the one I am getting and it was 230 but with the 25 off thing going on today it came out to like 220 after tax and I have a Blu-ray player that I am going to trade in to amazon for 36. So really it cost me 184. I don't know why I didn't think about trading things in before. A few weeks back the Samsung 4k player was 199 plus there was a 25 thing going on at that time to and you got a $10 gift card with the player to. I was saying to my self after that I should have gotten it when it was at that price for that one. With the 199 but $10 gift card and with the 25 thing it was really like 170-180 or something after tax basically.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
If you didn't buy a PS4 PRO, why did you buy a 4KTV? And the 4K Blu Ray Player isn't bad but you could have purchased an Xbox One Slim instead, have a 4K Blu Ray Player and play the third party multi-platform games on it that support 4K and HDR. Then, buy a PS4 PRO. Best of both worlds, a 4K player and minimal loss.
The thing that truly baffles me is why buy a 4KTV if you weren't buying a PRO? What's the purpose of the TV? There's very little 4K content available right now and prices will only decrease in time on the 4KTV's so I just don't get it.
You could be playing The Last Guardian with pretty much a locked 30FPS with PRO compared to less than 10FPS on the base and slim.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Thinking about it....Xbox One Slim for $250 minus the $25 visa checkout plus tax would be around $245. Trade in your Blu Ray Player for $36. Cuts the price down to $209. For $25 more than what you ended up spending on the 4K Blu Ray Player, you would STILL have a 4K Blu Ray player AND be able to play multi-platform games in upscaled 4K with HDR. You can't lose.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I placed two orders using Visa checkout at Best Buy. No future titles for me as I wanted to get two current games for as cheap as possible. All games were $32 GCU.
I did two orders...
1. COD: IW for Xbox One, Mafia III for PS4 and Fifa 17 for PS4.
2. COD: IW for PS4, Madden 17 for PS4 and NHL 17 for PS4.
I only care about Mafia III and COD: IW for PS4.....COD: IW for Xbox One and the three sports game all trade in for $25 each. I'll pick up all six tomorrow morning before work. On break, I'll trade in those four games. I'll get back $110 including my 10% GCU trade in bonus. Plus, I'll get 200 points which equals another $4. So basically, I spent $156.72 and will get back $114. $42.72 for Mafia III and COD: IW new is damn good. And of course, I'll lower that once I trade them in. LOL.
If trade in values drop tomorrow, I will simply pick up and return for a refund. Either way, I have nothing to lose.
See, that's how you do it bud. It's all about getting the best deal and more value for your money. Granted, if you collect games, it's different but thankfully I stopped that two generations ago.Comment

I don't like Microsoft at all so I don't want a xboxone. If I bought a pro it would cost me more money and I would rather wait for ps5. I don't think you have to buy a pro for a 4k tv to be meaningful. There are 4k bluray movies and with 4k you are prepared for the next several years going forward and considering even tv shows and such on tv are only in 1080i still not even 1080p it is most likely going to be a long long time before you have tv in 4k. By having a 4k tv I can watch 4k bluray movies and I am ready for ps5 in the next few years or so. Also not only the 4k but I wanted a newer better tv. My old tv was a 720p upscale 1080p that was 37inches that I had from 2007. I am not going to buy another tv for a while so it was nice to not only be ready for the next few years or so but to also get a tv where bluray's looked better then they did on my old tv and also even tv looks better and also nice to have a tv that is 18 inches bigger then my old tv.
When it comes to the TLG I know it does run better on pro but I have heard even on pro it drops below 30 sometimes and I really don't get where this whole 10fps thing comes from when it comes to this game and the slim or regular ps4. Granted I am not that far into the game having only played about 3 hours but so far most of the time is has been running pretty smooth and even when it has dropped it has never been even close to 10fps and the only people I have seen say it drops that bad is people on forums. I have not seen a review saying that it runs that bad and if it really did run at 10fps it would be getting much worse reviews then has 10 fps is like unplayable. So yeah I don't get where this whole 10 fps thing comes from.

While I didn't think about the xboxone thing but again I don't like xboxone there is not a single game that I care about playing that is only on xbox and I don't really want to buy a system just for playing games I can already play on ps4. So even if it is only like 25 more it is still a $25 waste for me and yes I would like to play games with HDR and in 4k but again I can wait for ps5. Sony really messed up by not having a 4k player in the pro and really should have done a 2tb hard drive in the system to has 1 tb is not much with how big games are now days. If the pro had a 2tb hard drive and a 4k player in it then I would have had to upgrade has the cost of buying a 4k player and having to buy a 2tb hard drive separate would not really be worth it when I could just get a pro for around the same. Like even if you got a 4k player for only 150 and with a 2 tb hard drive costing around 90 to buy those things is like 240 if not more where with what the pro cost and what trade in value is for ps4 you would be spending just about the same to get those things plus then be able to play games in HDR and 4k. It does suck not being able to play in 4k and HDR but I can and should wait. I already spend a lot of money on games and I am still at home and don't make a lot of money. I have a lot of money saved up being at home but I do still spend a lot.
If I could get a pro and only spend like 100 and I mean after I trade in a ps4 then I would most likely do that but any thing over 100 is to much and I am better off wanting for ps5. Let me put it this way. I spent 400 when I got a ps4 on day one. With know getting the slim after trade in I basically spent around 100 and I basically spent 100 when I got a 2 tb hard drive. So I basically spent 600 already on ps4. If I got the pro then that would have been more like 750 and while ps4 cost less then ps3 did 400 compared to 600 it is really 500 to 600 has I had to get a bigger hard drive and I never had to deal with that with ps3 because games did not have to be installed on the hard drive. With spending around 100 more to get the slim I am getting a new game to that I would have to spend money on and getting a new controller to and my controller I got on my ps4 when I first got it had that pealing issue. So really its like I spent even less then 100 to get a new system. Maybe its silly to spend more money even if it is only like 50-100 for a system that does the same things just because it is newer but I have had bad luck with systems breaking on me. Also I have heard people say the slim download speeds are better. I am hoping that will be true has it tends to take me a while to download any patches. We will see. When I got a 2 tb hard drive and redownloaded ever thing before I got the slime it took about 2 days to redownload all my patches and dlc and I don't even have much dlc over all.Last edited by Smallville102001; 12-13-2016, 02:26 AM.Comment

This whole line of thinking is just hurting my head...being loyal to any company, the only one who loses out is the consumer choosing to be loyal. But being loyal AND stubborn? For virtually the same money you spent, your experience could have been tangibly better with the TV you just bought.
Never understood digging in your heels when it comes to stuff like this.

While the value for your money is why I fell like it is better to wait for ps5 then getting a pro and when it comes to collecting games its not that I get games just for the heck of it but I like to keep my games has I like to go back and play old games from time to time. Plus I don't have the free time like I used to so because of that I tend to get and have a big backlot of games all the time. When it comes to the 25 thing I did that on 3 different orders. I did one of the slim, one on the 4k player and one on 2 games that are not out yet. I did the slim because of what I said about the price and having a newer system wish I did it when the slim was at 200 at one point in time though because then I would have basically been getting a new system for free. Did it on the 4k player because I wanted a 4k player and have been trying to wait for 4k players to get around 150 but gave in and with the bluray player trade in and the 25 thing I am not really spending that much more then that. With the 2 games because I know I am going to get those 2 games for sure. Also I don't have much when it comes to games that I want to get right now mostly just waiting for Horizon now and Zelda and more news about the switch.Comment

While I tend to trust Sony more they have had way less issues with there hardware and I like there games much more. What is the point even if it is just a little bit in spending more money if I am not going to ever even take advantage of the other stuff you can do?Comment

And why spend more? Cuz gaming tastes change. You're as close-minded an individual as I've ever met on these boards. You're really only cheating yourself but hey, if that's what makes you happy, have at 'er. All I know is for a period of about 8 years I couldn't get enough of the COD series but at this point, you couldn't pay me to play the last two. My tastes along with alot of others', change over time. You'd be surprised what you might like.

Not true...the PS2 was more faulty than the Xbox and so far, the PS4 is not as reliable as the XB1. The 360 with the RROD was a disaster but people gloss over the PS3's own issues with the YLOD.

Xbox one is the first xbox system that has not had big hard ware issues and ps3 YLOD I got but it was a rare thing compared to the red ring of death that xbox360 had and ps1-ps4 had no big hardware issues. While Nintendo used to be my favorite and then Sony but now Sony is my favorite but I still love Nintendo because I like that they are different and love Zelda, DK, Mario. I don't need xbox systems it would be a waste for me to have only need Sony and Nintendo systems. I used to play a lot more sports games then I do now. In part because I wasn't into a lot of other games and in part because I don't have the time like I used to so now I am having to decide what games I am going to play with my free time more then I used to. It sucks growing up lol.Comment
