Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Set it to 2160p-RBG. As for what port to use what TV are you using? I know for Vizio its port 5 but it really depends upon your TV.
Do you have game mode enabled?

I'll have to try the backlight thing.
Thanks.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
So using HDR in NBA 2K completely ruins the game. It looks terrible. Everything gets dim and washed out. I read that this was happening to a lot of people when the HDR and 4K patch was released. Haven't been able to find if this has been solved or what the issue is/was.
Any ideas? My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I run the tv in dynamic picture mode unless I'm watching an old show that looks like crap using dynamic then I'll switch to standard. I've never actually checked my back light since everything has looked amazing. I'll check it out tonight.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
go through this forum. KDS doesn't auto srt game mode to max backlight, the users n this forum seem to think its an issue, not a big issue though.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Samsung KU6500. I know it doesn't have true HDR since its only an 8 bit panel, but I expected a little more than what I'm seeing. In my PS4 settings it does recognize the HDR and switches to it automatically. But I didn't think it would completely nerf the picture.
I've heard other with the same set say it looks better in HDR, just not as good as the 8000-9000 series. So not sure if that's the reason or not.Comment

Mine has been quiet about 90% of the time. Ratchet and Clank has been the only game to stress it, but it never lasts for more than about 30 seconds.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Quick question, why didn't Sony make the boost mode for the regular PS4?? I mean the PS4 is and still a powerful machine, why not unlock the CPU and GPU to run better on the first Regular PS4, we know it could have been done.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Backlight should be maxed out when in HDR and contrast should be around 80+. I keep contrast at max which is 100. Brightness only goes up to 50 on the Sony X800D and for non-HDR games, I keep it at 25 but when the TV detects HDR, it automatically increases it to max which is 50.
Best thing to do is to leave the PS4 settings on automatic as well as your 4KTV so it gets detected properly. You can force HDR by turning it on manually but isn't recommended as it can screw up your 4KTV in the long run.
If a game supports HDR and you keep the PS4 Pro and 4KTV on auto, you should be fine as the 4KTV should adjust the brightness for you.Comment

I'll try to mess with the backlight and contrast and see what happens. I haven't been able to get on the PS4 today.
Hope it helps, because I'm pretty bummed out it looks so bad.Comment
