It's funny. A few years ago though, I was getting a new tv every other year. So I definitely understand and get it.

That's probably because you were looking at it from a distance. Your eyes can only see what bio-science has proven.

See even there the 1080 and 4K look the same to me. But I sit 10ish feet away from my 47" so what do I know lol.

Yeah man, well we both went to Costco to get the Vizio P65-C1 and they didn't have it. I knew that the only other TV I wanted was the KS8000 or KS8500 but before I could even look at the models or anything, from a distance my wife and I both saw one TV that looked better than all others, it turned out to be the KS850D (the Costco version of the KS8500).

It stood out and it wasn't even close and that was both up close and from afar. And I knew then that if I was going to get a TV that night it was going to be that one.

Saturday evening we went to a different Costco and I saw the Vizio P65-C1 and it did not look as good as the Samsung KS850D.

Now before any Vizio owners throw any rotten tomatoes at my head, rest assured I thought it looked great but of course now that I already bought the set I'm no doubt biased in the base of my brain that my set is the "best set" lol.

I mean, cmon, that's how fanboys are born right? But at least I'm aware eh?

No, I'm very happy with my purchase and I'll always wonder if the Vizio would have been better. The only thing I don't like about my set is that sometimes on a blank screen when something in the middle of the screen lights up I'll see a slight bit of edge light bleed at the bottom left and a slight less than that on the bottom right and I always think "I bet the Vizio P65-C1 doesn't have that since it's full array.." but that's life eh...

Although we have fanboys we also have the "grass is always greener"....that's the inverse I guess. All I know is I'm so glad the long fight for 4K is over...

Quickly for sbauer specifically, thank you for your help regarding this monitor. I tried to PM you to say thank you but your inbox was full

Somebody a few pages back mentioned that NBA 2K17 didn't look right in HDR to them and I have to second that. Every time I play it, it looks washed out. Last of Us is hit or miss too, sometimes it'll look stunning with HDR on, other times it looks washed out. Almost like the PS4 can't decide how to display it. I have a 43" Sony x800D FWIW.

Ratchet on the other hand looks amazing every time I turn it on. I have no idea why this is happening, especially since some guys here say NBA 2K17 looks life-like in 4K with HDR.

I also have a Panasonic plasma and I have a Pro. I'm not sure how much better NBA or Fifa can look. Also plasmas have the best refresh rate.

Yeah I agree, I thought FIFA and NBA looked incredible on my regular PS4 and I honestly think they look incredible on my PS4 Pro and new 4K TV but I am not seeing this huge leap in either game from 1080p to 4K that some people see.

How old was the TV that you got replaced by your 4K set? I had the Sammy 4K KS8000 before I had a Pro and its not that giant of a leap IMO in graphics from when I was using a vanilla PS4 with it.

It was a 9 year old Samsung 67" DLP 1080P set. When I bought it in 2008 it was state of the art and it still has a fantastic 1080p picture but yeah, it was old.

That explains more. I have a Vizio 47" 1080P LED which I think games look amazing on.

I would agree, but I don't want to confuse "best" with "highest." I hope you're not arguing that it has the highest refresh rate, because many LCD monitors natively achieve 240 frames per second nowadays while plasma was only sublime handling 60 FPS.

Honestly I'm just tying to justify upgrading to a good 4k hdr set which will have to be at least 75 inches to go in my living room because I don't have a man cave in my house. It's a $3000 investment minimum if it more and I don't the want to bring home the new set and say oh **** it looks the same as it did on the plasma...

You have to pay a little more for 4k on Netflix, but damn, some of the nature stuff on there is the best 4k I've ever seen.
