Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

MS needs to come up with more exclusives that interest me for me to make a One purchase though. Forza isn't enough. I don't care for Halo or Titanfall either, so we'll have to wait and see.

I agree with the controller. I prefer Xbones controller over the DS4.

Hopefully TF will help with sales for Microsoft and bring more gamers on board.

If I had to choose between the 2 systems it would have been the PS4

I actually prefer the 360 controller over the One. Just feels better. I might actually like the DS4 over the one.

After owning both since Christmas I like my PS4 best for gaming but everything else I find myself using the Xbox One for. I think that's sort of how MS intended it, well I mean to use the One as a comprehensive media center with the ability to game.... I can't imagine life without either of these consoles to be honest.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

First, I want to address the negative media attention that the XBox One is getting. Everyone is down on XBox One sales. I want to remind people of the press that the Playstation 3 was getting versus the XBox 360. Overall, the XBox 360 got better press at launch because of its price point. Despite the Red Ring of Death fiasco, the XBox 360 outsold the PS3 in the first year of production (regardless of release date). Imagine what would have happened if the RRoD issue did not happen? How far ahead would have the XBox 360 been based on its price point?

Now, I know there are other factors that you have to take into account: the economy, different release dates, etc. What I'm simply trying to get at is, the PS3 eventually did just fine, and I think the XBox One will be fine as well.

I own both consoles. I've owned the PS4 since launch, and I've owned the XBox one for just short of a week. I enjoy both. Here's my bullet point list of benefits of each:

          PS4 over Xbox One
-Simple UI, intuitive (You understand how to get to things right out of the box)
-Made specifically for gaming (Microsoft's motives are more easily questioned)
-PS Plus free games are much better than XBox Live (none for XBox One yet!)
-Announced major console sellers have more variety (Infamous, Uncharted, MLB The Show vs. Titanfall, Halo, Gears of War)
-..actually has a good baseball game!

          XBox One over PS4
          -Better controller (just my opinion)
-More room for growth (Kinect, TV, other implementation)
-Used more on a daily basis (because of the TV, voice commands for it are fun)
-Better exclusives out as of today (Dead Rising 3, Forza, Ryse vs. Killzone, Knack, Resogun.. my opinion)

With the One, I felt like it was rushed to be released because of PS4's announced release date (as you know, Microsoft announced their release date after Sony). Because of this, the One doesn't have the polish of the PS4.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one right now. I wouldn't base your decision off of games just yet. These are only the first few months of a long console life.

Here are some console exclusives that weren't available at launch for PS3/XBox 360: Infamous, The Last of Us, Demon's Souls, Heavy Rain, Alan Wake, Crackdown, Left 4 Dead, Braid

The DS4 is definitely better than the One controller.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

I'm most likely going to upgrade to next gen this summer.
It really depends on a few things such as a new NHL game and possibly a Red Dead sequel.

I'm still on the fence as to which I'll buy.
I like the simplicity of the PS4 and it's price point.
I'm not sure how the XB1's all-in-one will work for me as I don't have a fast internet connection, a Netflix membership, or access to things like the NFL network or MLB.tv.
So the integration portion might be moot for me.

But I have to admit, I was/am a big Gears of War fan. Loved the first 3 games.
That series might be what has me leaning towards the XB1 over PS4 at this point.

I waffled back and forth for months before settling on the XB1. I'm an Xbox guy at heart, but Sony offers an extremely attractive package with the PS4 and PS+. Ultimately, I went with XB1 for the following reasons:

                      -I like the TV integration
-I like the instant switching and snap-able apps
-I like the potential of a standardized Kinect for games
-I like the One controller with asymmetrical sticks
-I like Xbox's franchises and MS has done a good job introducing new IPs, so far
-I have couple of good friends who also own XB1s and I want to be able to game with them

On the flipside, the PS4 is cheaper, has stronger hardware, better performing multiplats, and tremendous value with their PS+ service. Knowing all of that, I still chose Xbox and have not regretted it. As much as MS has shot themselves in the foot in a lot of ways, when I sit down and turn on my XB1, I have fun. I would suggest picking up whichever console excites you the most and enjoy. You can't really go wrong.

Having gone the PS4 route at launch and really enjoying it I thought I would hold off on the Xbox One for a year or so. However I've watched too many Titanfall videos. Way too many.
Then one of my sons called me and told me he had pre ordered the Titanfall bundle from Newegg with no taxes and free shipping. "Great" I thought, just what I didn't want.

I went to the site and couldn't help but put the bundle in my cart then set there for awhile with my cursor on the "complete pre order purchase" before hitting the button for the purchase.

                          I'm all in now!

You will love it. I have both for the first time (always owned just one of the big two/three consoles) and I'm so happy I bought both. For me it's about the exclusives. XBox One will probably be exclusives only, but mine came with Dead Rising 3, Ryse and Forza as exclusives and I'm having a blast with those.

Yeah, I hear you. I'm retired now but I raised my kids with video games. They grew up in the NES, Genesis and Super NES days and we always had a blast gaming together. That continued and we always played the 360 versions of the Call of Duty games online but obviously in different locations since they're on their own now.

But since the new consoles came out, I went with the PS4 and both my boys have been holding out trying to decide which one to get. Both were leaning PS4 but my younger boy just pre-ordered the Xbox One for Titanfall. Now I'm trying to get my older boy to get one so we can get back to shooting each other online!

I just miss gaming with my boys!
