Thanx 4 the input. Sounds like me to the tee with my experiences, with the exception that I'm only 4/5 days in on my XBone. It took what felt like 4eva just to start playing DeadRising3, which I did not like. Anyway in just getting back from GameStop & am now about 2 try out Ryse. I let y'all know what's up.

Completely distracted by the ad for Nymphomaniac at the bottom of the article...Did you guys see today just how bad the PS4 is trouncing the Xbox One in sales now?? Nearly doubled their sales in January...

Yup. I did the same thing. Here's my time line.

 1) "Think I might try SmartGlass"
 2) Downloaded 360 version of SmartGlass onto my iPhone
 3) Won't connect to 360. "Hm. Must be setting that's off." Started looking for the settings.
 4) Settings look good. Let me try again. Nope. "Why doesn't this [something] thing work."
 5) Finally realized that there might be a One version and searched for it.Comment

I read on AVS that Xbox one sales dropped 84% in January. It looks like MS will need to drop the price soon on the Xbox if they want to remain competitive.

Except for the PS4, apparently, as it's already sold 1.1 million units in the first six weeks of the year despite still being supply constrained and prepping for its Japanese release.

That said, I'm surprised that the numbers are the way they are. Microsoft has to be concerned about losing ground on its own home market. It will be interesting to see how they respond if the numbers are still the same the next couple of months. Although, I suspect that they will be fine in March due to Titanfall.Comment

So PS4 is up Dec -> Jan or did you just disagree and then prove my point?Except for the PS4, apparently, as it's already sold 1.1 million units in the first six weeks of the year despite still being supply constrained and prepping for its Japanese release.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

My point is that saying "everything is down after a holiday" way too simple and is a poor way to downplay the fact that Microsoft only sold half the number of consoles as their direct competitor in, really, the only market they care about.

I mean, I understand that January was a bad month overall this year for all retailers due to the bad weather, shipment delays and lower consumer spending across every industry, but it should have affected them both pretty much equally. The Xbox went from leading the PS4 in sales in December to selling only about half. That's a huge dropoff.Comment

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

I simply said that everything is down after holiday and you then disagreed only to then turn around and agree with me. I wasn't downplaying anything, Obviously there are a number of factors to consider, I was addressing the severity of the drop and this sudden question of competitiveness as if it's time to panic ~10 weeks into the console generation. My point is that saying "everything is down after a holiday" way too simple and is a poor way to downplay the fact that Microsoft only sold half the number of consoles as their direct competitor in, really, the only market they care about.

So to reiterate. It's not. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Both competitors will finish this race, even if the outcome may seem clear from the start. We all win.Comment

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

I haven't commented in awhile because I wanted to use both systems and compare both to my gaming PC and get a lot of time with everything to see how I really felt instead of making snap judgments.

I do not regret buying my PS4 whatsoever. I love it. It's truly a fantastic gaming console.

My XBone is very cool and I am glad I own both, but the PS4, for me, so far, is clearly my console of choice.

Exclusives for both consoles should warrant owning both for most big time gamers, IMO, obviously if the budget isn't an issue.

I really think Sony learned from their mistake with the PS3 design and hardware, I think this system is designed to pack a lot of punch for 400 dollars and just has a higher performance ceiling than the XBone, based on what I have seen comparing cross-platform games and stacking them up against my PC as well on the same monitor."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

After spending a month having both I give the edge to the PS4 and this is coming from a Xbox fan. The edge isn't much but there is an edge that goes to Sony

Games look better on my PS4 but I do feel they control better on the Xbone IMO.

I would say if you are financially able it's best just to have both if you are a big gamer. They both have great things to offer in there own way.

I will certainly grant that the One has a nice controller (I think Sony and MS have a draw in next generation controllers...great for everyone). After spending a month having both I give the edge to the PS4 and this is coming from a Xbox fan. I was very impressed with the fluidity and organic precision on the Forza 5 demo I played at Gamestop a couple of weeks ago.

MS needs to come up with more exclusives that interest me for me to make a One purchase though. Forza isn't enough. I don't care for Halo or Titanfall either, so we'll have to wait and see.GO 'HAWKS!
