Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

The social aspect I have to disagree with a bit Odogg. I think "having someone to talk to" is more related to friends list and game.

On ps4 any given night I have 5 or six parties almost full with people to jump in with, talk, and cut up.

Now on the game "randoms" side, the only game I've experienced any kind of communication issue has been bf4 but I think that has more to do with EA than Sony.

For instance Need For Speed Rivals I want to punch kids in the face because they never shut the hell up. Constant **** talking.

So I agree with your assessment of the three systems BUT I don't feel Sony is at any disadvantage in the social aspect.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

I think with the PS4 they gained alot of ground in the social aspect. Playstation improved their weaknesses to catch up to Xbox more so than Xbox improved on their weaknesses to catch up to Playstation. I still think Xbox One is more of a social console its just the PS4 has a larger consumer base at this time so yea more people are on it. But I think eventually with the social aspect of gaming being a strength for Xbox we are gonna see the social features, and games develop and stand out more. But Playstation has done a fantastic job of making their console more social friendly. I think Microsoft will continue pushing out exclusives that are primarily multiplayer based and Sony will always give us the deep campaign experience. From a social feature standpoint i'd give the PS4 the edge at this time because of the live stream feature. The social aspect I have to disagree with a bit Odogg. Pretty much. Call of Duty is another example of a game where people don't shut up.

When Bluetooth headsets work again in think you will see even more people talking. I can't even wear ear buds so if I didn't have the chat cable from turtle beach I wouldn't be talking either.Comment

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

I don't know how the PS4 handles friends list and such, but one huge improvement for XBL is that friends lists are more like Twitter now. You can follow anyone, and they don't have to follow you back.

It makes it easier to beef up your friends list, which then leads to more Drivatars in Forza, and things like that. The activity feed is also more informative about what everyone is doing, with their achievements and game clips popping up.

Also, this means you follow journalists and others, because they don't have to follow you back You can follow 1000 people, but people like Major Nelson has several thousand followers.

It's also nice that I can be watching the Blues game, like I am right now, but still get message that a buddy is online to play a game. And the headset that is included is better than an earbud, and the sound is as good as talking on a landline.Comment

Some games are running 1080p with higher framerates on ps4, but that same game is running 720p with lower framerates on Xbox one

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

I wonder if the hardware setup instead of hardware limitations for xbox one makes creating games on multiplatforms at 1080p more difficult. Ryse is a proven that the hardware is there just don't know how hard it is to get there.Last edited by RyanLR101; 01-12-2014, 07:42 PM.Comment

This is why I had no intention of getting either system this early in the cycle. The PS3 has just peaked so no reason for me to upgrade just yet.Comment

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

Personally see no use in waiting, I don't need to justify my purchase in the first 3 months of something I'll own for the next several years.

If this was one of the single console threads there's maybe a discussion to be had about waiting, but in the 'owners of both' thread I don't see the point of waiting if you're getting both within the first year anyways.

I get lancer's thoughts but agree with mestevo. I won't really save any money waiting a year and both systems rockNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
