Sony has absolutely no reason to drop the price of PS4. People say that they have no exclusives but that's bullcrap. They have exclusives but they're spread out throughout the year where as Microsoft puts them all together for the holiday season which going by sales of last year's Forza, Sunset and Halo: MCC, that doesn't exactly work either. PS4 is ahead by over 10m and granted, it's less than 1m in NA but that's because Microsoft is an American company while Sony is a Japanese company. The difference is that despite that, you would think that Xbox One would be winning but yet, it's losing and getting crushed in Japan and everywhere else.
Sony released The Order: 1886 in February and yeah yeah, I know it got horrible reviews and whatnot but it's all bullcrap. Game is an 8.5/10 in my opinion and at worse, a 7/10. It's virtually a bug and glitch free game yet Unity, Witcher and countless others seem to have so many bugs and glitches that you can't even keep track of them but yet, none of the reviews mention that, do they? The Order was an easy click bait for revenue by websites because majority of gamers that played and finished the game like myself can honestly say that in no way, shape or form does it deserve less than a 7/10. I have played and finished games that are a 7/10 and The Order blows them away. The Order was an easy target, plain and simple. Was it perfect? Hell no but no game is, was or ever will be. It was a good 12 hour linear visual cinematic experience with the best visuals period, a great story and characters, music, sound and voice acting and good gameplay with the gunplay being excellent. Most people bash it because it was linear, short, had no multi-player online garbage, didn't have numerous bugs and glitches which seems to increase the scores of games nowadays and wasn't what people were expecting. Still a good game especially when compared to what's been released on PS4 and Xbox One thus far.
Sony released Bloodborne in late March and while I just bought it the other day, I haven't played it yet but it seems to be in the 9 range and an excellent overall action RPG. God of War III re-mastered releases in July, Until Dawn on August 25th and the much expected Uncharted trilogy collection in November which is basically Sony's version of Halo: MCC. Only difference is that I don't see the Uncharted collection being riddled with bugs, glitches and problems.
What has Microsoft had this year? NOTHING. Their best game is a $20 digital download called Ori and the Blind Forest. You can add in State of Decay if you want which was a very good game in my opinion but three years later, the same exact problems still exist and I simply don't see how that's possible but yet, it is. Scream Ride is crap and makes Knack look like a classic in comparison.
Forza is a great racing game but it doesn't sell anymore. That's no threat. DriveClub with all it's problems and the non-existent PS+ version still outsold Forza Horizon 2 last year. Halo: MCC sold over 2m excluding the console bundle which isn't horrible but that's not exactly great either considering that Halo is Xbox. Plus, the game like virtually every one thus far this generation was riddled with bugs, glitches and problems. Sunset Overdrive sold less than 1m excluding console bundles. Not sure how the bundles sold.
Quite honestly, exclusives wise, Nintendo has blown both Sony and Microsoft away combined despite the Wii U selling less than 10m and being inferior in so many ways.
Sony doesn't need to panic or make a rushed decision like Sega did 20 years ago. There's no reason for them to do so as they will be fine come October, November and December.
Also have to remember that Sony is winning despite them delaying Uncharted 4 and not showing or announcing release dates for games that are in development as there's simply no reason for them to do so. Look at 360/PS3. 360 had the exclusives early but it was PS3 who ended up having more and for me personally, better exclusives that I actually wanted to buy and play.
Xbox One won in sales for April but it was by less than 13K. LOL. Seriously, that's no big deal at all. If anything, Sony could be sleeping, they wake up to hear that, shrug and then go back to sleep. January, February and March was won by Sony despite Xbox One being $50 cheaper and including free games.
In the end, if there's a PS4 price drop announcement, it won't be until October when Sony appears at that show (forgot the name). There's no way in hell that Sony will drop the price of PS4 at E3 nor announce a future price drop and anyone who knows how all these companies work should know why -
Cutting the price of PS4 at E3 will result in a refund of the difference in regards to all the Batman console bundle pre-orders and if there's no refund, consumers will just cancel the pre-order. That would be a horrible business decision. Announcing a price drop regardless of when it goes "live" would alienate all of those who pre-ordered the Batman console bundle and piss them off in the process. Again, that would be a horrible business decision.
If there was no Batman console bundle, I would say that it's 50/50 and could go either way but the bundle prevents it from happening or being announced simply because it doesn't make any business sense.
Just like Microsoft increasing Xbox One back to $400 after the holidays for two weeks only to go back down to $350. Horrible business decision. The price drop discussion also applies to Wii U as they just released the Splatoon bundle for $300. Imagine how many consumers will be pissed off if Nintendo announces a price drop at E3.
Funny thing is that I see Microsoft announcing a price drop to $300 with no games and that new revised controller being packed in to replace the current controller. That I put at 75% chance of happening especially since their press conference is hours before Sony's.
