Would you guys do a 4K monitor or a 1440p 144hz monitor with a RTX 2080 ti, i9 9900K setup? Not really based on multiplayer vs RPG games.....just the best of both pertaining to graphics and frame rate. This is not my setup, but just curious.

I would do a 4K HDR Gsync 144HZ monitor like the ROG Swift PG27UQ or at the very least a 4K HDR LG 600 monitor. If you have a 2080 or 2080ti you need to be playing in HDR.

That’s a sweet monitor and a big price. I’m sure those cards would run games at 4K, but at what kind of performance. The 2080 ti may be overkill for 1440p and just good enough for 4K.

              I wouldn’t call it overkill for 1440p at 144hz

Samsung has an insider program, a couple gaming monitors up for evaluation (you get like 40% off retail) if you're willing to shill a bit on social media.

Not a referral link (not sure they really have them).

Its Crazy, I play my PS4 Pro more the my X, my so plays the X so much more then me, so I have my gaming setup in my Bedroom on my desk with Mac and PS4 Pro hooked up to my LG Monitor.

I bought a new TV about a month ago and hooked my Pro up to it and it looked great, but there was something about playing it on my monitor that I had to hookit back up. Im so Satisfied with gaming on my monitor. I need a gaming chair thats all I need now. Not sure if I can ever go back to the TV

I wrestled with this decision for 6 months or so but took the plunge and got an Acer Predator X34P.

Best purchase I've made in a long time and should have done it ages ago. I love it..

I love the idea of gaming on a monitor but I just hate the blooming on all these monitors. My OLED blows monitors out the water with picture quality, but monitors always have better performance. Another thing is these monitors so far have mediocre HDR. I’m sure this will also get better.

Bought the TCL 6R17 about a month ago to go Along with my TCL 605 series, and a week later hooked everything back up to my LG monitor, of course the TCL had better HDR and is great for gaming, but my monitor just does it for me. I never had and issue with how colors look on a monitor, even with the games that don't support HDR on the PRO, my monitor has an HDR effect and it still looking amazing, and the games that do support HDR get to about 450 nits and that's way plenty when sitting in front of a monitor only little over a foot away or maybe 2 feet.. I never thought I'd love gaming on a monitor more then a TV like I do. Being a huge MLB the Show fan, it run so smooth on my monitor and looks amazing.

Is there a such thing as a gaming monitor with deep blacks, good contrast and very low light bleed? Seems like mission impossible. So far it seems like VA panels have better blacks and contrast, but don’t perform the best. I’d take a food VA panel with 4K to play on my Xbox one x.

Big screens aren't just for movies anymore. That's something NVIDIA proved last year with its 65-inch BFG displays -- now Dell's Alienware is taking a stab at a large gamer monitor of its own. But instead of a huge slab of LCD, it's a 55-inch 4K OLED screen running at 120 Hz. And unlike other displays, the Alienware 55 OLED Monitor can actually run 4K at that high refresh rate.

Lol thanks, but I’m looking for something to put on a computer desk. Something between 27 and 32 inches. That does look pretty nice though..

                                Re: Gaming Monitor discussion

Can anyone recommend a gaming monitor under $350 or so before tax?

I want to upgrade to a 1440p and preferably 144hz, I just don’t know too much about the different panels.

I don’t care about the latest and greatest monitor that is way out of my range. No, I cannot save anymore for a better one. I have 2 young kids so I have no desire to spend more than the above budget and really just need something better than my $120 monitor I use now.

Please don’t tell me how I’ll be miserable with any monitor in this range, I’m sure there are tons of budget options that will far exceed what I have now. I’ve seen some in here bash others for not being able to afford top end monitors.

I would just like a monitor with colors that aren’t washed out.. performance wise - I don’t play much competitive besides BFV. Rest is offline single player.

Any other info that I could provide to help with recommendations, let me know.

Thanks guys, really appreciate any input you can provide.
