Agreed. Conference was so so. Scalebound, creepy Indie and the Pirate game looked alright. I can't see myself buying an Xbox One till next year though.

Its only worth it to me if you really want a 4k UHD player. I'm completely digital when it comes to movies for me so a 4k player doesnt mean that much. I can run 4k Netflix straight through my TV so I dont need it for the 4k streaming.

Plus I know that the minute Scorpio comes out...I'm trading it in. So its really just a 14-15 month rental for 200 bucks.

Wouldn't announcing Scorpio now just make sales stagnant for the current xbox especially at its current price of $300?

I assume to get it on both X1 and PC that you will have to buy a digital copy?

That's the only way to manage the licensing for it, so I'd think so.

I have no need to upgrade to Slim....I'd be better off saving money to do it when Scorpio comes out....may only have to upgrade one of my 2, not sure the bedroom really needs the crazy one, but who knows. We'll see prices and stuff when it drops.

Extremely surprised that they announced and confirmed Scorpio when it's about 18 months away. After Sony confirmed Neo but said it wouldn't be at E3, I thought for sure that Microsoft would stay quiet but I was wrong and way off.

Doesn't this eliminate the need of the slim though? Why buy the slim when you could just wait another 15 months and buy Scorpio? Oh well.

In general, an excellent conference. Like how they showed the majority of games that are being released within the next year. Getting Recore in September is a shock. Want to see more gameplay. Hoping at Gamescom.

Gears of War 4 looked great. No surprise here.

Scalebound also looks excellent but I hate the main character and the co-op stuff.

Best announcement for me - State of Decay 2 for 2017. Hell yeah!!! Just hope that I can play solo and off-line like I was able to do in the first one.

Happy Few, Sea of Thieves, Battlefield, Forza Horizon were what looked good to me. I wasn't super impressed by the Gears footage, but I like the series.

I'd like it if Sony came up with a pirate game of their own that isn't assassin's Creed. And something like Horizon.

If you have a 4k TV in each room it may be worth it to upgrade both.

Question: They said all games are compatible across the Xbox One family. Does that mean I can play games on my Day 1 that are specifically designed for Scorpio.

I don't have 4K yet, so the slim isn't something I'd need anyways....

Dead Rising 4 looks fun! Enjoyed 3, though it had launch game syndrome. I think they'd make it even better now, so has potential.

I could be wrong but my understanding is yes. The impression I got was it's the same family/generation, just an upgraded version. I think the idea will be similar to playing a game on PC but one PC can handle medium settings, the other high/ultra, etc

From the way I see it, Microsoft was in a tough spot here.

Everyone knew the Scorpio was rumored to be coming sometime next year and that we were also going to get some sort of Xbox Slim. Sure announcing Scorpio now might put some people off from buying the slim or older X1 but some will still purchase. I will still be getting the slim when it comes out, the price I'm paying for over a year's worth of use is not much to me.

If Microsoft decided to hold off on announcing Scorpio until after the Slim or even later this year/early next year, they would have gotten bad press anyway because of Playstation Neo. They would also get dumped on for announcing Scorpio after lots bought the newest Xbox Slim.

I think they are banking on people buying into the new features announced, cross play, the "gaming without boundaries" type of thing and the fact that everything will still run on all iterations of the Xbox.

All in all, I liked what I saw and I'm excited for the future. I'll definitely be building a PC at some point and to have the option to play on both and having everything be the same is really awesome to me.

I'm going to assume that the games will have two modes on the disc - one for the base console and one for Scorpio. In other words, the same as what Sony is requiring for PS4 and Neo starting October 1st.

It would be horrible if games on Scorpio can't/won't run on the current base Xbox One and Xbox One Slim.
