Yes, that's what the plan is. Whether or not it stays that way remains to be seen.

Mario at launch isn't bad at all but hopefully, they show more of it on January 12th. Funny how Mario has a short teaser clip in the Switch reveal and will be ready at launch five months later but Zelda is being delayed yet again. Jeez.

As for different bundles, Nintendo should just stick with the base console for $300 or less. They should stay away from bundles. Their games will easily sell on their own if the console is cheap and seen as value to the consumer.

I agree on the bundles mostly with one exception, they should offer a bundle with one of the AAA third part games in it shortly after launch to pull in that market that will be on the fence deciding and can choose the Switch bundle with that game and open them up to the world of Nintendo.

I honestly believe soooo many of today's gamers have no clue just how great Nintendo games are, in today's game world if it's not max fps with super deluxe graphics it's automatically dismissed, sad!

To be completely fair, a lot of nintendo's latest offerings haven't been that great.

And each system only gets one of each main title. I'm hoping this kinda tightens them up a bit and we get a little more Mario, Zelda, etc....

I get that games take a while to make, but they can do better for the gamer...

I was already getting this but with Mario being a launch title, my excitement level just went through the roof.

Eurogamer says Switch will get its own version of Sun and Moon, that would be it for me. If they're making the Pokemon games on it, I'm in 100%

Yea that puts me at solid 90% in. Still wanna see how the 3rd party support is. And learn if I can transfer my Pokemon from my 3DS to the Switch.

Not surprised. There will be a transition period for some, but like I said, those would be handheld only franchises and titles will show up on Switch. Game Freak supporting new hardware its first year is pretty big. I think come January and E3, people will truly see what the unification of platforms means for content. Still wouldn't get all that exciting for western third-party support though.

Somehow I just heard about the Switch (I don't know how I missed it before). I am cautiously optimistic. I love my PS Vita, and the best period of gaming I think I ever had was being able to play MLB 15 on my Vita and PS4 continuing the same franchise back and forth (heck, I put down MLB 16 this year to just play 15 again this way). The idea of being able to do that again, play console and mobile device in the same sports franchise, without even having to sync, is incredibly exciting. Tempering my excitement is that 99% of my gaming is sports gaming, and Nintendo doesn't have a stellar history of sports gaming. Even the other 1% would be games like Grand Theft Auto, Burnout, and the like, none of which would be Nintendo-type games. I have zero interest in usual Nintendo IP like Zelda, Lego, Pokeman, etc. So, I'll be closely watching the games that get released for the Switch, ready to pounce. If we get a good football and/or hockey game, I'll be a buyer for sure!

Can you still do that with MLB 15 or are the servers shut down?

I feel the same way and I can't wait for this. Skyrim and NBA 2K alone would be worth it.

I have not played since the end of the baseball season (I typically play my sports in the season the sport is played), but to the end of the season I was able to sync MLB 15 back and forth between my PS4 and my Vita. As long as the servers remain up, I will probably do it next year as well (unless, of course, the Switch comes through for us!)

Switch and Zelda were on Jimmy Fallon.

President of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aimé guides Jimmy through Super Mario Run before debuting the Nintendo Switch game system by playing The Legend of Zelda in front of creator Shigeru Miyamoto.

Nintendo Switch will have GameCube Virtual Console support

Nintendo Switch will be able to play GameCube games via its Virtual Console service, three separate sources have confirmed to Eurogamer.

GameCube support is already tested and working, we understand, and three Nintendo games have already been prepped for Switch.

Those games are Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Wii, Wii U and 3DS have all offered a Virtual Console service for downloading games released on earlier Nintendo hardware. Switch will be no different.

And while the number of platforms to be offered on Switch's Virtual Console has yet to be nailed down, we've heard that there should be an upgrade programme similar to that available on Wii U, where earlier purchases of Virtual Console NES games can be 'upgraded' for a small fee rather than being bought again at full price.
Up next on its slate? A version of the GameCube Animal Crossing is currently being tested for potential release.

Animal Crossing is a particularly interesting title as it included more than a dozen NES classics - such as Donkey Kong, Mario and Zelda - to obtain and play within the game.

Impressively, we've heard that support for these games is currently in Animal Crossing's Virtual Console build and working. So, if all goes to plan, you would be able to be play an emulated NES game within an emulated GameCube game on your Switch on the bus.
Another big push behind GameCube Virtual Console, we hear, is the desire within Nintendo to continue making Super Smash Bros. Melee easily playable. 15 years on from its initial release, Melee is still a hugely popular game in the esports scene, and a regular major draw at huge competitions such as Evo.

Melee's easy availability via Switch Virtual Console will help matters, rather than relying on aging hardware or third-party emulation.

Report: Nintendo Switch Dock Increases Performance, Not Via Extra Hardware

We have recently learned through a source at Nintendo connected to the organisation of an upcoming hands on press event that the Nintendo Switch Dock does increase the performance of the handheld, but not due to any additional processing in the dock.

When the system is connected to the dock by USB-C, the system’s components will run at a higher clock speed to facilitate 1080p resolutions on the TV. Both video and power will be transfered over USB-C when docked. Plugging the system into the dock will also activate a small additional fan to help with cooling when run at that higher clock speed. This fan is in the rear of the dock, and there is a gap in the back of the dock to allow the system’s inbuilt fans to vent when docked.

Report: Dark Souls 3 Running on Switch, From Software Considering Trilogy ReRelease

Many have been wondering since the reveal of third party Nintendo Switch development partners what From Software have in the works for the system. Well, we’ve got sources telling us a little of that info.

According to one of our sources, From Software has Dark Souls 3 running on the Nintendo Switch with a level of performance they are happy with. They have not committed to releasing it yet, but discussions internally at the company have discussed the financial viability of re releasing the main three Dark Souls titles on the Switch with their DLC bundled in.

Development on a Switch port has been underway for several months via a small team, with From Software waiting to see initial sales data before committing to producing ports. The plan would be for a Switch rerelease of Dark Souls 3 if greenlit to release the same day as PS4, Xbox One and PC receive versions with all DLC included.
