It is not just direct x12, sony custom is not the desktop variant that AMD offers. Sony has yet to even confirm all the features that RDNA2 has

Devs also would want to work on the desktop variant over having to do other things to make up for the custom sony option that nobody knows if it is even on same level.

Re: Xbox Series X ($499) and Xbox Series S ($299) Release on November 10, Pre-Orders

Xbox series X has HW accelerated RT

Sony does not have HW accelerated RT

Xbox series X has Mesh Shaders

Sony has primitive shaders which is the older version of Mesh

Xbox series x has sampler feedback which is huge and will make up the ssd speed difference

Xbox series x also has VRS (VRS) delivers much finer grain control on how developers can leverage the full power of the Xbox Series X|S by enabling developers to focus their GPU resources on the areas of a frame that most benefit without reducing the overall image quality. By leveraging techniques like VRS, games such as Gears 5 can see performance increases up to 15% and beyond resulting in higher, more consistent frame rates and resolution at the exact same image quality

Simping hard for the series x now lol, trying to get my hands on one, can’t. EBgames had more yesterday but was over in 10min or less. I think returns by scalpers might be a thing judging by Kijiji, Craigslist, FB etc... we shall see
Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.

Kind of disappointing the x drive won't allow for Dolby Vision disc playback

Yup, they went with the same blu ray drive as before. Rumors are that this might be patched eventually

So how do we all feel about this TV for the X1X?

The Samsung Q80/Q80T QLED is an impressive 4k TV, delivering fantastic picture quality in nearly every type of content. It has a VA panel that can produce deep b...

My current set isn't going to fully take advantage of this console i have preordered. This guy being on sale right now is making me think of buying it... but I'm so lost when it comes to all this new tv & console tech now.

              Appreciate some feedback.

Ok here is the deal from my research

Xbox Series X/S can do freesync via HDMI 2.0 and 2.1
Xbox Series X/S can do VRR via HDMI 2.1
Xbox Series X/S can natively output 1440p 120hz via HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.1

This means that you do not need a new HDTV with 2.1 to get the most of out of the series x/s consoles

You can buy new tvs with 2.1 hdmi or cheaper tvs with 2.0 that have freesync and supports 1440p at 120hz or 1080p at 120hz same for monitors

The crazy part is that PS5 does not offer freesync but it does offer VRR which means unless you buy a tv with hdmi 2.1 you cannot get VRR to work and there is no freesync which is the same but for 2.0 HDMI since PS5 does not offer freesync from what I searched. Or read on the spec sheet

PS5 will offer VRR which is fantastic but only to those who buy a monitor with hdmi 2.1 or a tv with hdmi 2.1

That tv is good for gaming and at that price is a steal.

Just know that it only has 1 HDMI 2.1 as the other 3 are 2.0

That’s not good. The blu ray drive on the One X is a piece of **** when it comes to playing UHD movies.

Below is the Watch Dogs Legion trailer running off of Xbox Series X and shows off Ray Tracing -

We cannot expect PS5 and X consoles to have high end UHD disc drives. These are gaming consoles and they already losing money

Pretty weird that they are showing ray tracing when they have stated RT will not be available out the box for the XSX only in future update, and reports out here say the XSS will not support RT at all, is this true?

                                Who said that? Why would Xbox Series X not have RT. Their RT is direct x12 RT which is hardware accelerated {top end version}

Series S cannot be expected to have it

Some games might get it post launch because series X RT is hardwared accelerated and not custom like the other console. But believe me they will have RT and the best kind
