Re: PlayStation 5
Finally got a PS5. Should be here early next week at the latest and I am pumped.
Thinking about upgrading to an OLED TV as well, but I’d probably need to go from 65” to 55” to do so and I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Re: PlayStation 5
Even if you get an invite, it doesn’t guarantee that you will get a console. I’ve had 3 invites and still don’t have a PS5. You will be put in a line (queue). Sometimes for 45 minutes or more. Just like other sites, this usually means they will be sold out once you finally get in. My most recent opportunity was Monday. As I was checking out, the sold out message came up. I’m not sure why they send out more invitations than consoles available at the time of event.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
No actual link. It's simply my opinion based on what happened with ZeniMax/Bethesda which was only $7.5B. Microsoft like with ZeniMax/Bethesda can't make anything definitive until the acquisition is legally completed but they're not doing this just to continue supporting PlayStation. If Sony wants these games or Bethesda's, they will have to bend to knee so to speak and allow Game Pass on PlayStation as that's the only way they're getting these games.
Sony doesn't have any timed exclusive deals or anything with Activision Blizzard and if anything, have kind of backed off from them. PlayStation will get COD 2022 as the deal isn't expected to close until 2023 but once that happens, that's it. Like with Bethesda, every new game release will be fully exclusive to the Xbox eco-system. But all previously released games like Warzone for example will stay on PlayStation as is and be supported like Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online is.
But new future releases isn't going to happen. I think PlayStation fans can't seem to wrap their head around Xbox actually being competitive and being all in on gaming. Not just consoles but PC, mobile, cloud, esports, etc.
Microsoft simply isn't playing around anymore. Also, Sony has a long history going back to PS One by paying for long term timed exclusivity deals that kept games off Saturn/Dreamcast and eventually Xbox. You look at FF7R and it should have been on Xbox about a year ago but Sony extended the deal to where it's probably fully exclusive to PlayStation.
Microsoft/Spencer aren't into timed exclusivity as most of their deals are 3-6 months where as Sony is a year minimum and instead of playing that game, Microsoft is simply going to buyout publishers.
In this case, via Jeff Grubb, Kottick himself reportedly went to Microsoft because of all the issues within Activision/Blizzard the last six months. This was in October and the deal got done in like 3 months. The Bethesda deal took about two years to finalize. Kotick wanted a way out, will get a massive payday, all the shareholders/investors will get massive paydays and for all the employees who remain and are actual normal human beings, they will have the full support of Microsoft backing them up.
For Sony, the gaming industry is changing rapidly and they need to adapt sooner rather than later or they're going to get left behind especially when it's not about only consoles anymore. Consoles is just one piece of a large puzzle which includes mobile, PC, streaming and subscription. Sony just seems intent to stay with their old and obsolete business model and it's simply not going to last long term.

Re: PlayStation 5
Finally! Anyone realize that a recent upgrade makes it a lot easier to share your PS5 screenshots and clips outside of your PS5 by uploading to your desktop, phone or PS App?
Spoiler
To get the new feature to work, I had to do a couple things. First, I had to open up the Media Gallery on my PS5, which you can find by going to the Games menu, scrolling all the way to Game Library icon, clicking that, and navigating to the Media Gallery. When I did, a prompt appeared that gave me the option to “Enable Auto-Upload,” which I selected.
Captures I took after enabling the feature didn’t immediately start appearing on the PlayStation mobile app on my iPhone, though — I had to manually force quit the app first. When I re-opened it, a notice appeared telling me that PS5 captures would begin to show up. To see them on the app, tap the Game Library icon on the navigation bar (next to the magnifying glass), and then tap “Captures,” and you’ll see any captures you’ve taken since activating the auto-upload feature.
Sony says that clips and screenshots will be available for 14 days after you create them on your PS5. For video, clips up 3 minutes in length and with up to a 1920 x 1080 resolution will be uploaded. Trophy moments won’t be uploaded.

It is a welcomed feature though.

Re: PlayStation 5
Got it, so despite wording it like it's fact, like you did once again in this response, it's merely speculation. It feels like all your posts in here are all about how Sony is behind, Microsoft has it all figured out and is the future while you predict how everything Microsoft does will impact Sony and continually gassing up Microsoft in the process.
It's speculation based on history. Microsoft acquired Zenimax. Outside of contractual agreements, is Sony getting Starfield, The Elder Scrolls VI, Redfall, etc.? The answer is no. That purchase was $7.5B. Activision Blizzard is almost $70B. Honestly, what do you think is going to happen?
I was a massive PS4 fanboy. I own a PS5. Will be pre-ordering Horizon 2 tomorrow but to be perfectly honest, as a gamer and consumer, Sony is doing nothing positive for me except for their exclusives which are excellent for the most part but that's it.
I never said Microsoft has it all figured out, in fact, not even close. They still have their issues but as a gamer and consumer, Microsoft gives me free cloud saves which has saved me at least three times in 2021, an easy as hell refund policy where I can actually download the game, play it and if I don't like it or it's broken/whatnot, I can refund it and it takes like 5 minutes and done. Microsoft has Game Pass which is great. I used to be 100% against it but now, nah, no way. As a gamer and consumer, it's great especially since im not required to stay subscribed.
All of Microsoft's first party studios games day one on Game Pass. Not only am I saving a lot of money but im also saving time because I don't have to go to the store and buy the game and of course, don't have to take the chance on it. I can play via Game Pass.
Also, Ubisoft+ is coming as it's own subscription service which is freaking great because it's all of their games day one and all of their DLC/expansions. Plus, like with Microsoft's games in Game Pass, unless it's a licensing issue, they will never leave the service.
So later this year when Avatar launches for $70, I will instead be able to play and complete it on Ubisoft+ for $20 or less as a monthly rental. Since it's going to be a long term live service game, I can keep it installed with my save file and when DLC/expansion releases, jump right back in all while saving me time and a lot of money. And none of this includes third party day one releases like A Plague Tale Requiem or Stalker 2.
So it's not that im hyping up Microsoft and Xbox, it's just that as a gamer and consumer, they're offering me far more than Sony is right now. I'm simply far more excited for the future of Xbox than I am PlayStation.
Think about this - last gen, I was a PS4 fanboy, bashed Microsoft because they didn't do anything positive for gamers and consumers. Hell, they were literally going to be dead and buried to where Xbox would not exist right now if it wasn't for Spencer convincing Nadella to keep it alive and invest into it. But to accomplish that, he had to have a plan, a roadmap. That's where you see Game Pass, Cloud, Mobile and of course, PC which they started in 2015/2016.
I see everything that Microsoft is doing and above all else, they're doing what I never thought they would do - be 100% all in and fully invest into Xbox. This in of itself excites me as a gamer, fan and consumer because they're finally doing what everyone including me have wanted them to do for the last 8 years before this generation started.
When I look at Sony and don't get me wrong, im still a fan of PlayStation, I still own my PS5, will be pre-ordering Horizon 2 tomorrow and Sony didn't win my personal GOTY four years in a row (2017-2020) just for the hell of it but right now, compared to Microsoft, they're just not giving me anything of interest or value outside of their exclusives and as someone who's switched brands to be my primary the last three generations in a row, im going to always go with the one that favors me.
Back to the Activision conversation. My prediction is this - Sony gets COD in 2022 and 2023. They will also get Warzone 2 which will be current gen only and starting in 2024, everything that Activision Blizzard has will be 100% exclusive to the Xbox eco-system.
Also, im not bashing Sony or PlayStation 5. Hell, I own the damn thing and to be perfectly blunt, have probably invested more money into it than anyone here. What Sony did with PS4 was awesome and I was hyped the entire generation for it but at the same time, Microsoft obviously screwed up back then but even afterwards, didn't do anything of interest for me.
This generation, it's simply the opposite because I always go with the brand, platform and eco-system that is simply better for me personally which is what everyone should do for themselves.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
Pulled the trigger on a 65” LG C1 last night and it should be here Saturday.
First thing I watch will be 2001: A Space Odyssey in 4k and I expect my eyes to melt.
Also, my PS5 should be here on Tuesday.
I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.
