Re: PlayStation 5
My prediction is June for Ratchet. I don't see Sony releasing the game in March because it seems like they may have supply issues until May/June which is one of the reasons why Returnal was delayed. Doesn't make much sense to release their exclusives yet they have no consoles available for sale.
Kena could be March though since it has nothing to do with Sony.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
We have such a small hard drive so why hasn’t Sony fixed the garbage “Other” category? I get needing some space to install patches and games but once you have done that clear that crap out! I’ve got 45 GB sitting in other and only 19 GB free as a result. This morning took a 10 second video from 2K and the system says I need to clear another 5 GB to save an edit (I was editing a 15 second clip)! What the heck!
Sony needs to clear up the Other category and get the SSD expansion slot going. What is taking so long?Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
With no real system selling launch titles and very spread out release dates for the exclusives, I'm wondering if the game publishers were expecting an early 2021(Feb - April) console launch. Pandemic aside it was a really underwhelming launch. To basically only have the following plus a bunch of upgrade PS4 games as your launch titles seems very lacking:
- Spider-man: MM (cross-gen)
- Demon Souls (too niche to be a system seller)
- Astro's Playroom (free)
- Assassin's Creed Valhalla (again cross-gen)
Most of games they showed when the announced the console release date are maybe, hopefully looking to launch in 2021 sometime:
- Destruction All-Stars (February)
- Kenna Bridge of Spirts (March)
- Returnal (April)
- Resident Evil (May)
- Deathloop (May)
- Ratchet & Clank (2021... maybe)
- Ghostwire: Tokyo (October... Maybe)
- Pragmata (2023)
- Gran Turismo (???... no one expected this to be coming anytime soon)
- Final Fantasy XVI (???... again no one expected this to be coming anytime soon)
Assuming the above titles hit there target dates an alternative exclusive launch lineup could have been Kenna, Returnal, Demon Souls, Astro's Playroom, (edit) Hitman 3, Destruction All-Stars and possible MLB the Show '21. That's a way stronger lineup and casts a wide net over the various demographics and is only really lacking a true racing game. Fall sports releases, a fully baked Cyberpunk plus the other planned 2021 games and that scheduled could have really grabbed those on the fence."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
June for ratchet would be a disappointment considering it was supposed to be launch window and considering its the first must have exclusive for ps5 that is not cross gen but with how little has been said who knows. Kena looks amazing so looking forward to it a lot to.
Yeah, launch window went out the window once they announced Returnal for March (now April 30th after a six week delay) and since AAA retail games normally need at least 3 months for marketing/advertising, we're looking at May at the earliest which I also doubt because first, Sony has the marketing rights to RE 8 and I don't see Sony going against that considering they paid for that and second, Deathloop is May 25th if I remember correctly which Sony paid to be a timed console exclusive so my bet is still June and I wouldn't be surprised if it gets pushed back further.
There's going to be a lot of delays this year and for the foreseeable future as long as everyone is working from home. I'm personally hoping for June to be honest as I have Outriders in April and RE 8 in May. Plus, like with Miles Morales, im hoping that there's a 60FPS with Ray Tracing option at launch. If not, I would prefer them to take extra time to have it in day one.
Kena looks great. I'm looking forward to it but I will probably wait until it releases on Xbox in 2022 since there's a good chance it goes on Game Pass day one and also because it's a digital only game as far as I know and I don't really want to spend $40+ on a digital only game. Either way, barring it being bad or whatever, I will play it eventually because it does look great and also looks like it plays great.

Personally, I believe that the PlayStation 5 launch exclusive wise was the best in PlayStation history. In general, both consoles had their best launch lineup in their respective histories and if you count all of Nov/Dec, when do you see a massive AAA release like Cyberpunk 2077 in December? It's very rare.
I currently own an Xbox Series X since January 4th and just finished the base game for Immortals Fenyx Rising after 100+ hours. I will be playing Valhalla next and still have Gears Tactics and Cyberpunk 2077 to play.
I already own Miles Morales on disc but have been unable to buy a PS5 thus far but when I do, I already have a game to play on it.
Also, at least for me, quality wise, PS4 and XBO was the following -
- Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (9.5/10)
- Battlefield 4 (8.5/10)
- Dead Rising 3 (XBO, 7.0/10)
- Knack (6.5/10)
- Ryse: Son of Rome (XBO, 7.0/10)
- Overall: 7.7/10
While XSX and PS5 is the following -
- Assassin's Creed Valhalla (expecting 9+)
- Cyberpunk 2077 (expecting 9+)
- Gears Tactics (expecting an 8 or 8.5)
- Immortals Fenyx Rising (was a 9.0/10 overall for me)
- Marvel's Spider Man: Miles Morales (expecting 9+)
I can't speak for anyone else but the launch lineup and Nov/Dec games completely blow away last generation for me as the quality is so much higher. Just going based on the above of 9, 9, 8, 9 and 9, my average is an 8.8/10 with the very real possibility of being a 9.0/10 overall or higher for me.
For 2021, the first half is going to be slow but that was expected. Everyone is working from home which slows down the efficiency of the studios and compared to 2014, when 2021 ends, just like Nov/Dec 2020 blew away Nov/Dec 2013, 2021 overall will blow away 2014.
It sucks but just need to be patient. Besides, I want Ray Tracing and a 60FPS with Ray Tracing option so I prefer development studios to take an extra month or two and have it at launch because im simply not going to wait for a patch as the game would have been played, completed and traded in by then.
As for those 10 games you listed, you'll get the first 6 or 7 in 2021. Seriously, it's going to be an overall great year of gaming with the second half being much stronger than the first half and the generation itself is going to be amazing.Last edited by peter42O; 01-31-2021, 12:28 AM.Comment

I’ve seen a few people speculate on what other consists of. Some think it’s PS4 games. It’s not the OS. Some says it’s storage when you’re downloading games.

Re: PlayStation 5
I didn't realize that RE 8 was going to be out in late may and about dead loops release date. But yeah a June or later for ratchet would be a pretty big disappointment. I know delays happen and even more so with covid going on but when we where shown the game not only was it was said to be a launch window game but from what was shown it looked really far along to the point where I thought maybe it could have even been a launch game but may have just been held back because of spiderman mm has they dont want to have like 2 insomniac games at the same time.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
So how long before most people stop referring to PS5 as next gen. In my head I've already switched over and everytime someone says current gen I think PS5/XsX.Last edited by jrnlgrn; 01-31-2021, 07:05 PM."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
I personally think it’s temp files. It changes every time you install a game or download a patch. But after all games or patches are installed why doesn’t Sony clear it out? The OS already takes up over 150 GB on its own. Does the XBox X have this wasted space issue?Comment

Resident Evil 8 is May 7th. Ratchet in June may be disappointing but it also depends on why it's taking so long. For example, if Ratchet in March/April means that I don't get that Ray Tracing/60FPS option day one but releasing in June does, then I prefer to see the game get released in June.
As someone who owns a Series X, I have never seen an "other save file". There are reserve game save files but they're small, literally a few MB. Other than that, if Series X has anything like that, it's in the 200GB that's reserved for the OS, etc.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
I'd suggest a large majority of a game's userbase is still using PS4...especially with the shortages of PS5 still. I don't recall PS3 being referred to as "last gen" until a couple of years in the PS4 life cycle when there was a decent split.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: PlayStation 5
Has anyone else tried Destruction All-stars. It's interesting from what little I've played of it don't know how much longevity it will have but it's not bad. Definitely not worth the $70 price tag it was supposed to have as a launch title. It really is in that Fortnite/rocket league mold so full price was never a good idea. I could imagine the right twitch streamer making it popular and it getting limited edition skins and special characters to make money on the back end."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment
